The Manchester United Thread

Yeah but they wont have to pay up till the end of this season. Even then Italian press are reporting an option to buy, not an obligation.

Why would Bayern have to sell on top of that? Ribery is 32, Robben 31, Alonso 34, there clearly moving these lot in to replace the old guard, i doubt they'd bring Gotze in for a long term plan and then let him go surely? Be a strange one to let him leave, but we've seen weirder.. :)

It's not about having to sell, but being willing. Costa IS Ribery's replacement. the loan allows them to evaluate Coman. Alonso's replacement is already at the club in Thiago. Right offer...

PL is excellent this season, so many upsets and midtable, lower clubs are strong than last season.

So this window we have net spend of 0 or even in -.

Exactly. This window is going to be really underwhelming if we end up with two natural strikers in a squad that will play over 50 games this season and not to mention the reports are now saying De Gea is leaving for £29m. That leaves us with Romero and Lindegaard.

I'll not be happy at all if the window ends like this.

Oh and I don't think Wilson is a thrilling prospect, good yes, but he has to start taking his chances in first team and showing something more than just good work rate. He's had a few now and not looked that good. I don't see how he's good enough yet for first team.

Won't jump the gun on that despite all the reports today, but it's seemed inevitable to me all summer that they'd get him before the deadline. It's Madrid's MO.

A real mess all of Utd's own making by not getting him signed up a season or so back.

In all fairness it might of had something more to do with the manager changes rather than the board. Although I don't know how any manager wouldn't want him but we know that Moyes and LVG like to assess all players before making decisions straight away.

Still a crappy situation to have two quite... mediocre goalkeepers... for the season when you've lost one of the best in De Gea. I'm assuming or at least expecting if this happens we'll get Keylor Navas.

Year back you had a meltdown for not letting Wilson start games and now he is not a thrilling prospect. If manager was so fickle minded then we would have bought and sold 50 players per year.

When you say reports, do you mean the Daily Express.

Romero has actually been very good. And If United get Navas out of any deal, that's excellent. And as before they would want a replacement if De Gea went.

Wilson is an excellent prospect. He's also only had 14 appearances only 3 of which have been starts, and hasn't appeared yet this season, so that's nonsense to say that.

I said it when he was complaining about KDB and Gotze, doesn't know what he actually wants.

When you say reports, do you mean the Daily Express.....

Might well of been ultimately connected, but it was an ESPN discussion linking to an Independent piece I read this AM FWIW.

Sky are half running the same Independent piece.

Van gaal said he down think romero has really proven himself so I think that if de gea is gone, they'll have a ready replacement

The Daily express piece was yesterday. And there is nothing from Spain either, or from England when we find out Hernandez can leave, so either they have the scoop of the month, or there is currently nothing in it...

Ta. And so it will be right up until the deadline.

Precisely. The window closes in a day and a half. There is no point people getting excited or depressed about reports because you're going to know for sure by Tuesday morning.

How does me wanting him to have a chance last season ultimately equate to me not wanting him now and thinking he's no good? I didn't say that at all. You've got to remember different objectives this season and we'll be playing more games at a higher competitive level especially in Champions League now.

I'm not against Wilson, he's a good talent but he's not a thrilling one. My gripe is relying on him as second-choice is silly in a season like this will only dent him as a player if he has to step up against the big challenges if Rooney gets injured and he doesn't perform. He's not quite ready for this yet, what he needs more than anything is more PL experience but I think at a lesser club with less expectation is best for him.

How can you make them predictions when in reality he's only had a few saves to make? He's done well but he hasn't been tested much so I wouldn't go as far to say that I'd suddenly want him as first-choice for an entire season with Lindegaard as backup.

I said it when he was complaining about KDB and Gotze, doesn't know what he actually wants.

I said I wanted a winger with pace, how on earth does this have anything to do with your constant fixation with Gotze and De Bruyne? They are both no.10's, we can cut it any way we like but they are not wingers.

Only the deluded fans would still think it's a good window and we've done well in here and be happy if we lost Chicharito and De Gea before the window closes whilst bringing no one else in. That's all I was saying.

He will never be ready without giving chances. Also we have Fellaini who is playing upfront, not as #9 but behind the striker. There is no point in having quality young players if they are not even trusted as back ups.
