The Manchester United Thread

i would say this is the first time in about 13 months you would be right to be annoyed.

We'll find out soon enough. But Navas could well be announced much later than De Gea. IF it happens. our window is longer.

But we should be getting him as part of this deal, Madrid are mugging us off if we're doing this seperately and paying big for him.

Anyway I don't really like to be the person who says this, but whilst I am relatively happy we've just signed someone in an attacking sense with Martial. Can't help but think we've caused ourselves just as many problems if not more by letting go of Chicharito and Januzaj unless there is another player or two coming in as well. I thought we were lacking even with them in the squad.

Just got to hope there is not a ****** buy clause as well in that loan deal for Dortmund... wouldn't put it past us.

One of the best keepers in Europe isn't United quality

riiiiiiight.
He's had a few solid years at Levante, however he isn't one of the best few keepers in Europe. I could name many keepers that are better such as Cech, Courtois, Neuer, De Gea, Buffon, Hart, Lloris, etc.

Edit: He's also only 6 foot 1.

That still doesn't change the fact that he isn't United first team quality.

Let's not get silly now.

I'd agree with you that it's a drop off from DDG (time will out if he comes just to how big or not); but you can't say he's not a first team quality goalkeeper. Whether that be at Utd or elsewhere.

The terms are still fuzzy, so lets wait for some confirmation.

He's been brilliant at Real Madrid. His performances have been better than Lloris and as good as Hart. at the world cup he was better than every other keeper bar Neuer.

Navas is not world class (my definition of world class is top 5 in the world), but he is more than capable of being United's first choice keeper. I'm just a bit put off by his reluctance in joining us, but hopefully that's just the media being silly.

Be fun to see Januzaj at dortmund, he should flourish and relish playing in an exciting attacking side.

Tbf he probably thinks to himself that he doesn't deserve this because he has been performing very well for Madrid. But when did that ever matter to Real Madrid as a club or Florentino Perez?

He doesn't deserve it. Not one bit.

Ironically he'll have more trouble getting into that team than he will ours as it stands I imagine. Great experience for him nonetheless but we shouldn't of loaned him out because we needed him.

i dont think he will He will rotate into any one of 3 positions

It wasn't likely that we would find a goalkeeper of the standards you have mentioned. Not this window, or at least without an extortionate fee being involved. Navas is the best possible answer to an drawn-out issue that should have ended before the season started.

Casillas is "only" 6'1 too.

Still weird we've allowed di maria and januzaj both to leave while not signing pedro, leaving us very short on the wings and not to mention the need for a cb still.

I find it hard to understand why Dortmund would want to loan Januzaj unless they have an option to buy him. On the other hand, I don't think we are stupid enough to do such a thing. It's good for Januzaj's development, but unless we bring someone in I think we are lacking in options.

Very odd, I thought we was short even with Chicharito and Januzaj in the squad. Ok we've got Martial in but we need one or two more at least if you ask me.

Jakub B is going to fiorentina.

We need at least 4 players in with 24 hours left....
