The Manchester United Thread

That's the key point. As we discussed the other day and I mentioned over the page, someone proven in England like Austin that you could plug and play this year would seem far more beneficial to Van Gaal who isn't going to be here long term.

But regardless, said all summer long that the key to your season was keeping De Gea. And as I type, you still have so as long as the manger's not totally ****** him off and caused any animosity, that's been the biggest and key success of your entire window for me.

Van Gaal isn't here long term but club is. Club is more important than Van Gaal winning 1 or 2 trophies.

Did they? All I saw about that was rumours. Plus, I said top club. I can imagine smaller clubs with less resources using it as a supplementary tool.

It all has a knock on effect regardless. "Not a top club" Everton buy a player using the knowledge from the FM database. Said player does well. "Top club" buy player for £Xm. Rinse repeat.

If the "top" clubs dont want to use it then fine, but regardless of who uses it or not, quite a lot of these players in the database that are tipped for big things usually end up at a decent level. Obviously they arent 100% right but I think they have proven their database is extensive and more often than not accurate.

That's an entirely different thing from taking a peek into some dude's FM stats and proclaiming him to be worth 36m.
I never said he was worth 36 million. The database for the game is a bit dumbed down compared to that, however it gives a good idea of what their researchers think of the player. The database for the game, not only includes potential ability, but canassesses how likely a player is likely to reach their potential by personality, injury proneness and other factors. The database gives his potential from a good player, to a world class one which is pretty accurate to be honest.

We shall see if he comes what the difference is or isn't. And we'll leave the hypotheticals at that.

Not really. You said you were wary of it, without realising his club form is the same as his world cup form. Replacing DDG with one of the best in europe is as good as you can do without keeping him. It's really not even a point worth debating.

So out of pure interest, exactly who's will be left from what Van Gaal inherited by the end of this window?

This is one **** of a roster turnover in a little over a year.

Are we getting Navas in return? If not I'm fuming at this.

No idea. I don't even know if the reported agreement is accurate. Madrid have about 3 hours to sell him though, or 12 if to England

Absolutely. NOBODY is bigger than Utd.

Just looking at things from his POV.

Jeez, as much as I want to dislike you being a Liverpool fan, I've got to respect your input into this thread. It's actually nice to have someone who offers a balance perspective sometimes. Seems you were right about the De Gea saga anyway.

Ultimately Madrid wins and we sell for a pityful fee.... 30million euros is nothing and not even getting Navas in return is a joke.

so anyone who doesn't take your view isn't balanced? Interesting.

No, I just like his honesty and he says what he thinks, not necessarily in a biased way. It's just refreshing from a Liverpool fan to have some good input to this thread and he's not the only one as there is others as well.

I'm not aiming this against anyone, just saying it's good perspective that he offers majority of the time.

He is nowhere near the level of DDG. It takes years to replace a keeper of that quality. It took us 10 years to replace Jens Lehmann with a world class keeper (Petr Cech).

30million euros [...] Navas in return

Whenever **** like this comes up, I'm always about to say "Madrid would have to be absolutely mental to make that deal", then I remember that they are.

I think thats been his mission. Get rid of everyone brought up by Fergie. Didnt he say not long ago that Fergie moulded them to be too gung ho or reckless or something along those lines? He wants his own players, working to his own methods. He doesnt want people stood there saying they preferred it the way Fergie did it. Its easier to change the defensive players to his way of thinking, but its hard to change the mentality of the attacking players so he's getting rid.

You could increase Navas' value and then pick up DDG for free.

That is actually not true, Navas is a very good keeper and would be a great replacement for us with little time to do anything else. He's much better than Romero or Johnstone, even Madrid fans want him to stay.

He doesn't have the ceiling De Gea does but Navas is quality goalkeeper nonetheless.

Not sure everyone would would agree ha ha, but thank you. Kind words that are appreciated.

Feelings mutual.

Ballague is saying Madrid even want to sell Navas...... this is a joke if we don't get him.
