The Manchester United Thread

Oh shoot...now what?

He really has to sign a new contract...

Maybe one with a release clause of 35 million?

Btw, did you guys see that apparently De Gea has sold his Manchester home already? Was tweeted if I am not mistaken.

"Right, where are we at with the potential deal of the day: Anthony Martial to Manchester United? Well, our man Saj Chowdhury has dug out this nugget... Monaco say the deal is 80m euros (£58.75m) including bonus. The club were reluctant to sell him until United raised the initial fee they were willing to pay to 60m euros (£44m)"

Manu is lost it if they pay so much.
Even Griezmann release clause is a lot less.

Don't believe what you read about fees as they are all over the place from various sources as the present time of a deal happening.

If you want the truth wait until weeks, maybe months, after the transfer has happened.

What was SCchweinsteiger reported at the time, £15m by some? £25m by others in Germany? Turns out it was £6.5m which no one said at the time from memory.

All the more reliable journos are pointing to it being £36m plus add ons, but like I say, don't read much into fees when a big deal like this happens wait until well after it has happened.

Got to remember this is massive in France because it doesn't happen often that a young star of their's joins a big club for big money, so it's bound to be inflated and exaggerated to seek attention. Then factor in Monaco perhaps feeding lies to appease supporters and fans in the middle of all this.

No, his wage & loyalty, sign-on bonuses are already tied into any contract and are his reward for excellent service. You don't give him more for acting like he is supposed to, on top of that. He is a professional player, he is already paid to deal with situations like this accordingly.

Getting 1/3 of what he's worth is not being paid accordingly.

Madrid not even appealing. Really didnt work hard for De Gea there. Hope he takes heed from that.

I refuse to believe we're not doing more business, one injury to Rooney and who replaces him? A 19 year old in Martial or Fellaini.

An injury to Mata who replaces him? A 19 year old, the same one, who can apparently play on the flank as well.

It literally makes 0 sense to only bring one 19 year old in when Januzaj and Chicharito have left. Wilson pretty much as well.

We still have pereira and young...

He's getting paid exactly what he asked for when he signed the deal.

Also, worth £210k a week? :lol - That would put him in the top 5 players in the world.

Young is much more suited to the left and Pereira hasn't even featured at all so far. Shocked if LVG is suddenly massively counting on him.

Out of nowhere he started counting on McNair. Pereira will get chances and people are reading too much about him not getting any mins.

The plot thickens. The Champions League tweet, supposedly confirming that David de Gea will be staying at Manchester United has now been deleted. Read into that what you wish.

OOOOOooooohhhh... slow news hour, must be

Are we though? Why hasn't he even been on the bench? I'm all for giving Pereira chances this season but we're still short of an attacking player to replace Januzaj. I have no idea why we have loaned him out when he would of been more than useful option to have to cover no.10/shadow striker and on the right especially as an alternative to Mata.

What's he meant to take from it? His personal situation still hasn't changed and you have to imagine he'll still be off back to Spain ASAP.

Doubt even if he has he'll be struggling for a place to live in the interim.

I presume United are the same, but both L'pool and Everton own quite a few 'club' houses in Formby for a few million or so that always have new players and players in-between new houses moving in and out of.

Stay at Adnans place, while hes out on loan. :)

Which doesn't change the fact that he's now worth a lot more. But I'm sure you'd be quite satisfied missing out on dream job, only to end up in your old one, making 3x less money, and being separated with your woman for another 12 months. That **** would demotivate anybody, its simply human nature. No amount of internet flexing about how people just need to "man up and be professional" is gonna change it.

He rejected the bumper contract.... if he had accepted that he would of been on better terms and would of gave Madrid no option but to pay big or not get him. Instead they've cocked it right up by offering what they said they wouldn't all summer, on the last day of the window.

I disagree totally with paying him more to act 'professional' when we as a club have already done all we can to let this move go through. Madrid have cocked it up, not us, we've been insistent all a long on what we want and they've only decided to go through with it on last day.

So he needs support, not cash. You are talking of giving him a million pound bonus, coz he's upset.

It is deleted and I'm 100% sure. I had it opened in other tab and posted in couple of forums. Refreshed the tab and the tweet was deleted.

He was on bench couple of times.

Van Gaal likes 2 players for each position and 3 GKs, he wants 23 player squad and that's how we are shaping up.

I don't agree with it but that's how it is.
