That's what Perez said and was worried about when he said great players won't be available for free just because they have 12 months on contract.

I'm not 100% confident that he will sign but excited that all the major papers in Spain and England are reporting it and all papers are saying Mendes was in Carrington to extend contract.

Also Mendes was asked by Spanish media that can he put some money on De Gea extending and whether he (journo) will lose money if he backed De Gea extending deal, Mendes replied "Absolutely not".

Jose Manuel Garcia relayed an interesting anecdote, when he reported a conversation between Mendes and one of his aides.
Mendes was asked, “Jorge, will I lose if I bet backing Man United to renew De Gea? “. The super-agent replied: “Absolutely not.”
The report goes on to confirm that Mendes has already spoken to “people” at Man United about De Gea’s renewal and “everything indicates that a renewal is imminent”.
In a damning statement, the report stated the “love story” and friendship between Jorge Mendes and Florentino Perez “is broken”.
Mendes now has three clubs who he prefers doing business with: Paris Saint-Germain, Porto and Valencia.
In a final blow, the El Confidencial article claimed that the whole Mendes situation has also unsettled his clients at Real Madrid, and there are fresh suggestions that Cristiano Ronaldo may not finish his career at the club.

Also Darmian won ManUtd player of the month award. It was between Darmian, Shaw and Smalling anyways, all 3 were excellent.

I went for Shaw but as you say, all have been excellent and all would have been deserved winners.
 
In an interview with the Daily Mail to coincide with the imminent release of his autobiography, Gerrard was asked to rank Keane, Frank Lampard, Patrick Vieira and Paul Scholes in order and he had little hesitation in naming the Irishman as his top pick.

"Roy Keane No 1. The rest? They’re all different," he stated.

"Frank (Lampard) is the best goalscoring midfielder, (Paul) Scholes the best footballer, Patrick Vieira the most difficult opponent... I loved playing against all of them."

Now we have few blokes here who ended up with egg on their faces. Saying we should have signed for peanuts and how De Gea will leave on free next season..

He'll still be gone in the summer. Probably knew he wouldnt get a sniff near the first team if he didnt sign. He's doing a Suarez. But at least we'll get a decent fee now and more if he plays at the Euro's and does well.

Im expecting him to go, so if he stays thats a bonus.

I expect there to be a clause if Mendes has played it right. I expect it to be a GK world record fee clause if we have. The speed at which this has been signed says a lot though

Yeah, i presume its only a slight amendment to the offer that was on the table already, but surely there has to be a clause in this near the £40mil+ mark now.

Yeah but Spanish papers didn't report anything about the clause.

Anyways even if there is, it's a good deal for both parties. We won't be losing him for embarrassing fee and the risk paid off.

It'd be him or Vierra partnering Gerrard in an all time PL XI for me in central midfield.

FWIW, my other defo United players would be Schmeichel, Irwin, and probably Neville for his longevity. Ronaldo I'd have to weigh up on his shirt 6 years. Then there'd be either or's.

There is no way Gerrard starts in PL 11. Keane, Scholes, Vieira are better than him.
