The Manchester United Thread

It's like 'STFU already will you please!'

It didn't happen. It won't happen this season. Nobody gives a flying f whomever was at fault. (Which everything points to it being your f-up but whatever.). Dragging everyone you can out to try save face is nauseating. Just let it go already!

STFU until the end of the season and concentrate on what you do have. Geez.

The fact that United have stopped responding tells you how much they don't care now.

Mata scored but it was a fluke goal.

I was just coming in to post that ha ha.

Poor Macedonian keeper. Gets beat like that. And to top it off it hits the post, then rebounds in off him.

Fluke indeed. Still fancy Spain to retain. Though the Germans are gonna' take some stopping.

*Edit* Having seen it again, just to compound the poor 'keeper, that's an oggie. Didn't realise it was coming back out before it hit him.

Van Gaal needs to put a call in to del Bosque and ask him to let the Macedonians at least put a ball into the Spanish area De Gea can be under pressure for. Something, anything to give him some work to do.

Good to see Smalling getting the recognition he deserved. Him and Shaw were very good for England.

Rio on Rooney..
Forget how many were penalties..
Forget who the opposition were..
Forget is he the right man..
Forget all the ney sayers..

A record that stood for 45yrs.. Respect the ratio of a goal in every 2ish games at international level.

Now, compare that last stat with the 2 greatest players of our generation:

Messi - 104 games 49 goals
Ronaldo -122 games 55 goals
Rooney - 107 games 50 goals

Credit where credit is due please!

The fella has 300 career goals..

This hasn't come about by luck or because he was in a completely successful team and chances were there in large amounts. This has come about through sheer determination.

Rooney has turned himself around from the street football player we all saw in his early years to someone who is seeking out record breaking milestones.

He wasn't a natural goalscroer/finisher in the RVN/Fowler/Shearer mould where their games were based around scoring goals & everything else in their games fed off of that. Wayne wanted to be involved in everything from playing 30 yard diagonal passes to the rough & tumble chasing a player 40yards to win the ball back, scoring was an after thought.

After years of playing like this I think he saw that these records were achievable if he focused on getting goals more than he had been on scoring goals.... You would notice the difference in his finishing, taking bits from other strikers - like an ole gunner solskjaer favourite of striking the ball back through the defenders legs which made it difficult for the keeper to see & react to.

Shooting practice became more & more a part of his daily routine - not just shooting and playing at it...It was all done at match tempo & was where he tried new things and repeated time & time again. He preferred techniques of finishing, so when it was matchday & a chance would come it was ingrained in hid system of how to finish & became more natural to him.

He would talk about goalscoring more and more & who was at the top of the charts, how they were scoring & where he saw his goals coming in the coming games.. He would have been looking at the England fixtures over the last couple of years calculating where & when he will break this record, playing it through his mind...to say he became obsessed would be far fetched but his mindset had changed.....to that of a goalscorer.

Goalscorers are selfish....Wayne was known as an unselfish team player for many years....goalscorers have to be selfish to be successful & Wayne became more like that...
That is why he has broken such a long standing record & is on the cusp of breaking another one at Manchester United that Sir Bobby Charlton holds.
Will Sir Bobby be happy for Wayne?
Yes he will but I'm almost certain somewhere inside he will be hugely dissappointed because that selfishness of great goalscorers never dies!

Congratulations

Respect

Bastian Schweinsteiger transfer fee from Bayern to Man United disclosed

Bastian Schweinsteiger's first club, TSV 1860 Rosenheim, have revealed how much Manchester United paid for the Germany captain.

Schweinsteiger, 31, left Bayern Munich, where he had one year remaining on his contract, and joined United this summer.

When making the move, it was reported that United paid close to €20 million for the 2014 World Cup winner.

But his first club, Rosenheim, where he played until 1998, have now disclosed the exact transfer fee.

"The transfer fee adds up to €9 million," the club announced on their official website.

According to FIFA statutes, Rosenheim, who currently play in the regional fifth tier Bayernliga Sud, are set to receive a windfall of €38,000 for the United star.

"We have been credited for two years [that Schweinsteiger spent at the club]. We will receive the payment in two instalments, and after deducting the advisor and legal costs, we will receive €19,000," Sandro Sacco, the club's finance director, said in the press release. "We already received the first instalment in August."

The press release added: "We are delighted about Bastian's incredible career and also that we profit from it financially as his first club."

So it's official, Schweinsteiger trasnfer fee was just 6 Million pounds.

Almost all papers (times, Telegraph and few journos who are good with United news) are reporting some issues with training between players and manger.

Perez hints that De Gea might sign new deal.

David De Gea likely to sign new Man United deal, Real's Perez suggests

However, Perez said there was no prospect of Los Blancos making a move for De Gea in January, when the Spain international would be ineligible for Real in the knockout stages of the Champions League if he plays for his current side in the group stage.

"We will certainly not sign De Gea in January," Perez told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope.

Real were reported to have agreed to pay around €30 million to sign De Gea, despite the goalkeeper having entered the final year of his United contract.

Asked why his club were willing to pay so much for a player who would be eligible to move on a free transfer next summer, Perez replied: "They don't become free.

"The great players are never free. The ones that arrive for free and that are available are mediocre players."

That... doesn't suggest he will sign a new contract at all. All he said is that De Gea won't be free, which is true because RM are likely to pay him an absolutely huge signing bonus and probably a large one to his agent as well. ****** ESPN.

Not sure about that. His answer to why Madrid didn't wait, he said they don't become free which suggests either sign him or he might sign extension. He is not talking about wages and signing on fee at all, just transfer fee.

But it's very vague statement which can be interpreted both ways.

Florentino Perez: “If someone doesn’t want to extend his contract, they’ll ruin his life. You only get mediocre players as free agents.”

So that quote was not about signing on fee, just that Perez is worried that De Gea might extend his contract. No wonder he is losing his **** with all the nonsense quotes about Barca.

This story is like 3 weeks old though.

I'll be amazed if DDG resigns tbh. If he does the Perez has royally ****** up Any contract he signs will be a monster one.

Unless he no longer wants to go home, De Gea would be an absolute fool to himself to extend regardless.

But enough on that. Is he back in the squad for Sat'day? Playing him would be a major gamble.

He was fine against Macedonia. Think this is being over egged tbh. Even an average DDG is a better keeper than most, certainly would be better than Mignolet for example. He's at OT as well. Get on with it, quite frankly

The perception of Rooney is so skewed it's unreal. The problem is that when he was younger, he looked like he was going to develop into one of the absolute best players in the world, a player who had everything and could end up being England's best ever. He didn't live up to that so people **** on him for it, despite the fact that he was still WC. Then he played in a front 3 with Tevez and Ronaldo and completely held his own. And people got back on the Rooney hype train because here's England's finest playing with the best of them. He didn't turn out to be as good as Ronaldo, so suddenly he's **** again. People are judging him against arguably two of the best players to ever set foot on a pitch, and not realising why that's so absurd.

It's a bit like when you see those brats on Super Sweet 16 sob because they only got £200k Ferrari.
