The Manchester United Thread

Yeah Benteke was isolated and had no support at all. Ings as LW? That would never work.

I think that's the frustrating thing, because from a Liverpool POV United are there for the taking at the moment (Of course United fans will disagree), and Liverpool were quite frankly terrible today

I thought quite easily if Liverpool had been a little more forceful, they could have scored an earlier goal. ****, the Smalling clearance inches off the line could have been pivotal.

From United point of view, you have just average team and midfield is just run and run with no creativity at all. Was worried about Benteke and Firmino as Benteke always scores against United and Firmino is sort of unknown quantity, apart from them there isn't any player worth worrying.

That's from a Liverpool point of view as well.. haha!

Henderson, Coutinho, Lallana and Sturridge (of course) were missing and if fit probably would all be playing, and be our main creators/goal threat as well

The problem isn't the players missing. It's the set up.

Why play Ings and not go two up top on the counter, try and get them one on one with defenders?

We have the best full backs in the league. Shaw is a tank and Darmian is like Neville at his peak. Such a good tackler and reading of the game.

It's a combination of the two, but I'm not disagreeing with you in the slightest... We lacked creativity because our main creative players were not available

BUT, with what we had available we utilised very poorly and that was the set-up which falls at the feet of Rodgers

No wide men either, crosses into the box with Benteke pulling onto Blind would have been effective.

Even when you have had them this season you have rarely been that creative. Benteke's goal was immense, but actually he had no service today.

Yeah they are big miss, at least 3/4 are starters. But the attitude in the first half was very poor. All Liverpool did was just defend with 10 players.

Shhhhh you cant mention milner is not a centre mid because running around with no positional sense looks good for highlight reels.

I told this before and will repeat it. Miler is just average player and was underrated when he was at City. City needed him to do the water carrier role and with all their stars he fitted properly. Completely different at Liverpool where they rely on him to do passing, creative passing which he is not good at.

United definitely don't have the definitively best full backs in the league, however Shaw is definitely proving to be worth every penny United have paid for him. Darmian is a rare breed of defensively minded full backs. The only full backs in the league of this style are Azpilicueta, Monreal and Clyne.

United have the best Full backs in the league. There isn't a better LB than Shaw this season and Darmian is as old style Italian defender who closes down everything.

People will mostly talk about how much LVG has spent but look at what Rodgers has spent, in the words of floppy chops they are bang bang average. Suarez really did pull them up a level or two and also grew Brendan's ego in the process and he probably still thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread and fingerblasting.

Shaw is a very good left back, however players like Baines and Azpilicueta are definitely better. Darmian is a solid right back, however other options such as Zabaleta, Ivanovic, Debuchy, Clyne and Coleman have already established themselves in that category of the league's top full backs. Everton easily have the best full back pairing in the league with Baines and Coleman. They are both very strong in defence in attack. Darmian isn't the greatest going forward.

Ivanovic? you not been watching him for the last 7 months? Can tell you now Chelsea fans will not be sharing that opinion

And just no to Debuchy.

Darmian has been the pretty much the best full back in the league

For 5 games arguably. That's as pointless as me saying that Naismith is the best goalscorer in the league because he scored a hat trick. Ivanovic isn't in better form than Darmian, however he is a better player. You said that United have the best full backs in the league. Most in form would be more accurate.
