The Manchester United Thread

You said 'literally nobody else is reporting this,' which wasn't the case.

Anyway, Daniel Taylor from The Guardian now saying it's a hamstring issue. I've been told that he's still expected to play tomorrow though.

I should have clarified that with credible.

And no he hasn't. He explicitly stated "this isn't confirmed, and the relevant people are not commenting but heard it might be a hamstring issue"

This is exactly how rumours get told as fact

I treat this **** like "Man predict football outcome with shape of dog ****".

It's all ******* bullshit, they know it, we know it, so don't waste your Friday beer time commenting on it.

Just get ******* ****** and enjoy tomorrow.

Anthony Martial debut goal, racing onto a mistimed header by Dejan Lovren. Alternatively, Martin Skrtel receiving his marching orders after a rash challenge on Juan Mata.

Pretty feasible.

Rooney injury is a massive concern, not only for this game but for next few games. His performance this season and his usual performance against Liverpool means he is not a big miss at least for this game but it might be from team's perspective as he is one of our senior player.

Hopefully it will be Martial as #9 as don't want Fellaini leading the line. He is better playing behind the striker. Maybe chance for Wilson?

See this is what I mean. A late fitness test would be tomorrow. United are making no comment. So how could they know for sure.

Because for all you know they've had Taylor's information confirmed?

They're journalists, it's their job to find this stuff out. They don't make things up ***** nilly for views because it effects credibility. Especially a local paper who have a very good record with breaking stories.

If he plays now I'd be very surprised.

Fellaini up front has to be a joke... this is why I seriously don't understand why we didn't keep Chicharito or replace him at least. Martial was our only incoming who can be classed as a striker.

One injury to Rooney and we look so thin there it's ridiculous, at a club like United, Fellaini should never be a striker.

Good to see Mr Negative is back. I was getting worried for a second there after your jubilant posts at De Gea's renewal ;)

Confirmation, from where, from who? Taylor's tweet was second hand information anyway.
I think the hacking scandal has proved the bold to be wrong.
If this confirmation is out, why has no one actually said, United confirms he's out. He might well be but there not been any actual confirmation.

Marouane Fellaini starting up front for Manchester United... Wow.

Not that strange. He played that role a bit last season. Monster in the air, good with his feet, and holds the ball up well to link up with players. No pace for the counter, but then you wouldn't use him for that. Liverpool can't just sit deep now.

Judging by the team, I dont think that was Liverpool's plan regardless... it may sound strange but I think Fellaini poses more problems to Liverpool than Rooney would have

Rooney's hold and build has been really poor. Fellaini is exceptionally good at hold up play. The key is to maintain our passing game with him, rather than hit it long. The former will cause you lots of issues, the latter will waste the 3 men behind him who.

I understand why LvG has picked him but it's still strange to see Fellaini starting up front for United.

Last year i would have been utterly bemused tbh, but actually his play has shown it makes a bizarro sense. Martial to come on against tired legs either out wide or up front

On my way back from the Leeds game and Adrian Durham has just said on talksport bastian Schweinsteiger cannot run OMG he ******* steals a living

I find it unusual that the standard of our attack is predicated on speed and creativity, yet the players who were just that have left or not deemed good enough.

Not signing Pedro is one, sending Januzaj out on loan is another. We don't know how long Rooney will be out for, but having Fellaini anything more than a last resort forward is a bit much.

After all the hype, this game has been as much fun as watching paint dry in slow motion so far. Hopefully one of the teams will actually go for it in the second half.
