The Manchester United Thread

But they are not the issue, so harping on at them is irrelevant. Even Rio and vidic would be in massive trouble this exposed. remember the 6-1?

Why are they not part of the issue? Young has got caught out numerous times with his defensive awareness, Ramsey missed an absolute sitter and with Cazorla earlier in the game. They are part of the issue, not all of it.

Hoof ball and hope we pick up the scraps. Plus I don't see how that is not playing into Mertesackers strength, should be targeting him on the ground.

Lets not even pretend Arsenal are even that good either, we've just been absolutely awful and created next to nothing. Their defence is nothing special whatsoever, just conceded 3 to Olympiakos.
Ozil, Alexis, Cazorla, Walcott etc aren't even good? You can't walk a win at the Emirates. Referencing the result at Olympiakos is no reason to walk here and expect to score. There would have been an inevitable backlash to 2 shocking Champions league results. The last thing you would have expected here after those results is suicidal defending.

I was personally shocked to see Blind and Young in defence, on the same side. Players like Blind and young are playing out of their natural position and it would be unfair to blame them. The issue is the collective performance and Schweinstiger is playing in a more forward role, in which he looks out of sorts.

You expose your defense they are like to make mistakes. Games against Arsenal for us nearly always come down to the midfield.

You're always so negative. Can you just support another team and post in their thread?

What single positive do you take from this though? Ok... we've heard Martial lets have another.

It's not about being positive, it's just not about overreacting to every kind of set back like its the end of the freaking world. It must be exhausting.

Why can't Rooney play with this same hunger/desire all the time that's the real question. He's actually been fairly good.

We are losing vs a team that is basically as strong as us, if not stronger instead of vs a team that is bottom half.
We are behind yet at the moment we are playing better than Arsenal.
Rooney is looking brighter.

Rooney needs an edge to his game to play better, I think no pressure on his spot in the team hasn't helped him.

You can't blame defenders when Arsenal was just bypassing the midfield. Its a team game, for proper defending everybody has a job to do. Even Maldini wouldn't be able to deal with being overloaded with numbers.

That's where I'm so angry. Schweinsteiger, Carrick Scheiderlin. Martial and Depay off Rooney.

Wilson looked really sharp during those 10 minutes, I don't get why he doesn't play more.

2nd half sums up how we play football. Lots of possession, look good on the ball but toothless up front with very little cutting edge. Everton away next, don't think we will get much out of that. Let's see what ***** van gaal comes up with

First off, we always knew arsenal would be setting up with a lot of pace. So why play Carrick AND Schweinsteiger? We needed schneiderlin in there. Secondly, what the **** was Rooney doing? Schweinsteiger had to keep coming out of midfield to close the space because Rooney would rather stand in our own half trying to be scholes than do his job.

He cries he wants to be a striker but comes deep. That's nobodies fault but his own. He is supposed to be the link between midfield and attack. When our midfield has the ball, they have 2 choices. Pass forward to martial, who is surrounded by defenders, or play it sideways. Why? Because Rooney is too ******* busy being a deep midfielder than hold his position to link the play.

If he's not disciplined enough to play a role and stick to it then he needs to go. If his play was helping the team and he was assisting then fair enough, but he offers absolutely nothing in his play and knocks the balance of the team all over the place.

Thirdly, young being exposed is all down to Depay not tracking back, and too a lesser extent in this game in particular, schweinsteiger stepping out of midfield on that side to close down the space that our captain should be occupying instead of doing **** all in midfield. A combination of Rooney not doing his job leading to schweinsteiger doing it for him, and depay not tracking back is what exposed young.

In the second half when Rooney went to the left, young was nowhere near as exposed because Rooney tracked back. One of the few things he actually did right in the game.

But saying that, at 3-0 down and in control of the game in the second half, why was Rooney still not in and around the box setting an example? He was still too deep meaning schweinsteiger had to advance.

We need to drop Rooney asap because he offers nothing whatsoever to the team. And so far, neither has depay. We play a lot better with young on the left wing. He's more effective going forward and always tracks back. Until depay learns to play for the team, he needs to be benched.

LVG needs to grow a pair and drop his captain, and that's just for starters. He's had his chance and he's doing nothing.

It kind of tells you the potential this team has, when you're still two points of 1st place, while playing two players who are doing nothing in every game.

Annoying thing is, play herrera at 10 and you quickly bring depay into the side. Rojo needs to return to LB and then Valencia to go end of season.

The leagues been that poor to press with everyone so up and down I think the tables even less worth looking at right now then ever.

Christmas is the time to start paying attention there.

precisely what I said when people were saying this month was decisive for us. Only remotely "decisive" one was Wolfsburg, would have made group tricky. Now it's still wide open.
