Not seen the game yet as was working but by all accounts Rooney was poor again. He needs to be dropped if that's the case, even if it only to make him understand that knowone is untouchable.

Martial's composure was again very impressive, so was his physicality in handling City defense. Created the best chance in the game.

Oh forgot, Origi was compared with Martial here by few and it wasn't even surprising though considering who posted that.

He was being compared on price and potential as far as I remember but they are 2 different players IMO.

Both lightening quick. Both exceptionally raw and completely unproven in England. Both have a very similar record in France. Both starting to garner similar hype before their respective moves.

You keep mentioning two Champions League games for Martial where he flashed. Origi played and scored in a WC finals and has consistently been a feature of the Belgium squad.

Both liable to have a similar impact for their clubs this year. Not much of any in all probability.

'Cept one is over double and more the price of the other.

It's npt a slight on Martial. It's just a glaring comparison at this stage of their respective career development.

Or you've just been left desperate at the end of the window.

Potentially. which is all he currently is, 'potential', you have a very good future player.

But shy of just being a body, i don't see how he helps you out much at all this year. Although I'd hope he has a far higher ceiling than Origi, who I don't hold much of any hope for; he just appears to be a lot more expensive version of the Belgium at this stage in their respective careers. Lightening quick, with a lot of hype. But little to no experience in reality, in a lesser league at that, to be anywhere near ready for the BPL.

I honestly don't see either having much impact on anything this year but time will tell on that.

And given your lack of much if any depth up front, the here and now is more important than the future as I currently type.

And here's me thinking we'd overpaid for Origi .....

Big 'IF' to gamble such a fee on is all anyone outside of having a Utd interest is saying.

At the minute, it's in-efect unproven, inexperienced 'potential.' He may turn out to be something. He may not. But right here, right now, that's all it is. Inexperienced potential, making a much bigger step up in league. Making his first move away from home. And with Hernandez reputedly going, you're adding that to Rooney who looks a pale shadow of anything he once was, and the similar inexperienced potential in Wilson. What's the difference in adding him into that mix this year than what L'pool have done with Origi? He (Origi) may or may not turn into something, but I very much doubt he contributes much of anything this season. And your about to gamble £36 million on similar. (Not comparing talent there to save that pointless debate. Just the respective, very similar stages of their careers.).

That's all anyone is saying. It's a massive gamble. And one that may well not help Utd out much at all in the interim.

But time will out on all that one way or the other.

Mmm fair enough, not actually as bad as I thought that would be. I didn't know much about Martial at all and the stats with Origi kind of do make sense. However, Martial clearly is better now we've seen him. Looks a cracking player and I would love to be able to like him, but I can never like United players! haha

Don't really see much of what he said wrong there to be fair. They were similar looking buys at the time and one did cost more. All he had wrong was the impact of each player to their respective clubs - thus far anyway.

Mmm, though if you watched either player before this season, you'd have definitely said Martial was the better player.

I did put my initial thoughts on Martial there at the time too, so not just hindsight
