Flop is a transfer were player turns out **** or doesn't fit team the team. How is that a flop when obviously fantastic footballer loses the drive to play after being robbed in his own house?

Falcao was a loan. I said no transfer flops. And it wasn't that expensive, I'd rate it at about 1/4 Andy Carrols.

Guess we view this completely differently.

To me, bottom line, £59 million to £44 million in 11 months with next to no return on the field. Doesn't matter if a Government hit squad from Buenos Aires marched him onto a plane at gunpoint out of Manchester in the dead of night; that will go down as a massive flop.

Falcao cost a **** load financially, loan or not, for zero return. Loan or not, it's another big transfer failure.

But the main one is Falcao, loan move or not that turned out terrible. United need to plan more with their transfers, that's my biggest gripe with them, I think they done better last summer but still a big question around it. Was their plan really to go big and rely on a young sensation at the end of the window to solve all our attacking issues? Selling Chicharito, Nani, RVP, Di Maria, Falcao (however bad they were), loaning out Wilson and then expecting Martial/Depay in that window as the only attack orientated transfer signings to solve them areas was never going to work. All in all, there is still definite question marks around our transfer strategy ever since Fergie left, possibly even in his last few seasons as well.

I think we're paying for our mistakes once again this season from the summer transfer window because it was clear from the start of last summer we needed a CB and striker. Still very much evident now.

Reminds me of how everyone treated David de gea.

I remember it like yesterday. There was a similar hype where people dubbed him as the next casillas when we bought him for 18 million. 6 months later, that thought was being laughed at by even united fans. 4 years later, look at him today.

Good point, but even when De Gea started in his first few seasons I never once questioned his attitude. A big part of my problem with Depay is his attitude, some of the time he just looks like he can't even be arsed to put the work in to track back for example. That kind of attitude will never succeed at United in the long run. (My view).

If a loan isn't a transfer what is it?

While ownership is retained the playing rights are transferred in return of contribution to players wages and possibly a fee. I'd call that a transfer even if it's not a permanent one.

I'd call loan a loan, and I'd call transfer a transfer. If Scouse has to redefine an entire dictionary in an attempt to give his original argument more weight, I'd assess that it must have been a **** argument in a first place.

The whole point of a loan is to give the player a trial period if you're unsure if he should be hired for permanent basis. The very idea of complaining about "loan flops" is absurd.

He won't track back, lol. This is like reading posts about Nani when he was working well defensively but people questioned him because he didn't as hard as Valencia and Park.

Depay does his job well, he is not a defensive winger. He is a wide forward.

A 'loan' paying £6 million down and his wages of £1.06 mill. a month over 9 months ..... over £15.5 million for a 4 goal return on the investment .....Loans that aren't transfers don't come cheap these days huh?

When you're taking that kind of investment, to all intents and purposes it's a very costly flop.

Or a very costly 'trial period' if you chose to view it that way.

Differing views so we'll leave it there.

I was kind of hoping to see most all the outfield players he's named the bench. But in his current position I get why he'd not want to leave himself open to further criticism.

Yeah, was hoping to see Pereira start. League 1 team at Old trafford was easy enough game to start him.

Saying that, there are no easy games for Van Gaal. For him every game is a struggle :(

The only reason I haven't given up watching this team, is because during games I'm watching TV shows on the 2nd monitor.

And people think Mane is not that priority for United.

This team is shambles, or at least made to look like one by Van Gaal. Need more pace outwide and more overlapping runs from fullbacks. Our wing play combination is horrible.
 
What a shocking game. Can't even look like scoring against a team 46 teams below our own. Pathetic
