The Manchester United Thread

You really wouldn't want him back, he's been horrendous really. Injuries a lot and when fit he was ****.

If it was United Vidic you could get back then **** yes, but this Vidic is finished

Also he hasn't played a game since last 6-7 months. He was out injured and got operated. I'm sure he won't back to his best or anywhere near it. He is done and we should move on.

Vidic should move to MLS and enjoy his last few seasons.

Vidic was barely good enough 2 years ago, let alone now.

Letting Ervra go was definitely a stupidass mistake, though.

First time in months enjoyed United game, shame in the same game Smalling and Schneiderlin had an off day. Should have won the game. Lingard and Fellaini should have scored those 2 very easy chances. No excuse for missing them. Liked Depay when he came on, committed players and created excellent chance. His play was very important for 3rd goal too.

Van Gaal ****** it up with Fellaini. Everyone knew he would have got second yellow card for any foul so he didn't even challenge for any ball but Van Gaal was ok with it. Awful decision.

Also with Lingard we are better team. His movement is excellent so he gets into many goal scoring positions. Rooney had his best game in probably 2 years.

I did enjoy united vs chelsea

Yeah, IMHO the currently optimal lineup would be:

Bastian-Schneiderlin
Lingard-Mata-Martial
Rooney

Plus whichever defenders aren't currently injured.

Alternatively give Mata a bit of a break, and give Herrera a run of games. Herrera is always excellent once he gets into match rythm. The problem is that he usually gets injured shortly after, has to pause, he heals but can't break into the squad cause he's **** without being in the rythm, finally breaks into the squad, gets injured, and the epic cycle continues, forever and ever until the end of time.

We're better at the latter though, much better. It's our natural game, and if we had done this from the start, we'd be a lot more comfortable than we are now with it

Yes but: Last night imho showed that if we attack, we can still do so with relative aplomb even with the much maligned players available (Rooney was our best player ffs!), but that doing so exposes an obviously not good enough defence. That is to be expected when our only defender in their natural position is the apparently overrated Smalling (who was involved in two of the goals conceded). Maybe LVG knows about our weak defence and thats why he set us up /instructed us to play so conservatively all season. We need to seriously bolster in defence, and invest in a top-class centre-back to partner Smalling or Jones. We also need more fullbacks cos Young is not one. And dont tell me Shaw is injured. Team of our standing should have better backups (or at least backups that are fit for the positions they play in NOT square pegs in round holes).

Now at the other end, Lingard continues to be weird. He scored yet he also showed once again that he really isn’t very good at this shooting lark, and has cost us a few other important results with his profligacy.

Fellaini was **** again. I wanted us to buy him cos at Everton he looked very combative and thats what we needed. But he should be booted out. He could easily have been sent off (yet again) and missed another great chance when supplied an almost perfect way to use his one obvious skill (other than elbowing all and sundry_.

The problem is Fellaini. We average 2.4 points a game without him, in fact we havent lost when he hasnt played 7 wins and 3 draws

we average 0.9 points with him in the side. thats relegations stuff, he basically throws the side out of balance so badly somehow.

I don't think that's entirely fair. I mean, he is coming on as a sub when you're are already behind. He also only broke into first squad at the time when nearly entire defense and half of midfield were injured.

He hasn't been good, no argument there, but if he took even half of his chances it would be different thing entirely. Last year he had 7 in 20, this year he has 1 in 10ish.

If there was ever a perfect example of misuse of stats then that's it.

Those stats are useless as many a times when he was on, United were already losing and he played as plan B to hoof the ball to the box.

In fairness he has started most of these games.

Those starts came when there where lot of injuries. Mostly he was subbed in for late game.

LVG dosent know how to use him I think. He dosent fit to most of teams tactics. But if used right he can prove good value. He needs to be controlled and laid down what and not to do. He is strong and aggressive what somewhat is missing from todays football. He is only 28 so he should be able to alter his game a bit to be more succesful.

His game time when we lost the games.

vs Swansea. We were losing 2-1
Vs Arsenal. We were 3-0 down when he came on.
Vs Bournemouth. Started and played 74 mins, he scored our only goal. 1 goal was scored directly from corner, nothing he can do about.
Vs Norwich. Lost 2-0 and he played almost full game
Vs Stoke. Lost 2-0 and he played full game

Fellaini is not our problem. Problem is manager and his safety first tactics. He hate all out attack and thrilling games which was common at ManUtd.

So guys, apparently we've signed Dragovic. Couldn't really look for a reliable source as I'm just having an x-ray on my knees. :D

Yeah, papers are full on with this ****. It's not the ban (nor Woodward's faxmachine) that will keep him at OT.

I didn't know people actually believed in De Gea's act that he had a complete change of heart because fax machine broke in Madrid.

Get real.

Excellent analysis you may well find interesting from a calibration with United Peoples TV:

Yet the later and the mess that Madrid made of the registration is the only reason he's still with you now.

-David? This is Jorge Mendes.

- What's up?

- Yeah, so fax machine broke here and transfer won't go through. We'll try another year, meanwhile I'll fix you a new contract so you won't be paid so badly anymore. Buy Edurne something nice. Oh and I'll get your PR team to prepare some messages to United fans. You know, the usual bollocks about how much passion you have for the club and ****. If the fans started booing you, your sponsors wouldn't be happy.

- Sounds good, keep me updated.

Not sure what is worse - this or the John Stones handing in a transfer request by accident?!

- Hey David, Jorge here again.

- Sap?

- Still want to go to Madrid?

- Well let's see. The city is better. The weather is better. The team is better. I'd get paid more. I'll live in my home town. I'll probably become a starter in national team. My girlfriend will be closer so no more blueballs.

- Well, there's the fax machine thing...

- Oh that. You're absolutely right Jorge. **** no, I don't want anything to do with a club that can't keep their office equipment well mantained.
