The Manchester United Thread

A 433 of

De Gea,
Darmain, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw
Herrera,Morgan,Mata,
Cavani, Rooney,Martial

isn't a bad FM team on paper. :)

Another case of sticking a big money player out of position though. I don't think Cavani would offer much in that position.

In fairness thats where he plays for PSG, scores just over 1 in 2 games

We are bottom 5 in the league in terms of chance creation

Do you want cavani to **** up those little chances?

The thing with Cavani, is that he takes quite a lot of shots and always had the ability to score completely out of the ***. So that might not be the worst idea.

That i like about him, God knows we don't do enough of that. LVG has a habit of late season surges (benefitted from that last season) Let's see what happens. Think we will shuffle into 4th and he will leave.

Idk how I feel about Cavani. Would rather we stick Martial up top with Rooney instead of brining in another striker.

On another note though, rambling thoughts.

I feel like our team could do well with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson at LB with Memphis as LW. CBJ does well with crosses and likes to overlap. Basically Shaw but less experienced. Would combine well with Memphis always liking to cut inside.

Then on the right have Young and Lingard or Darmian and Mata. I feel like those two combos work well together. Young and Lingard both are good at crosses and track back well. While Mata doesn't track back so well and cuts inside so would be good to have Darmian who seems more defensive being at RB over Young.

this sounds like edd being billy big balls and saying look at us sepending **** loads on players than rather than build a team

Yeah, team is desperate for winger and striker, so when team signs striker it's showing off rather than building team.

Saying that hopefully this is just a rumour. He will be 29 in a month and won't be a long term solution for the money we have to pay.

@ZZeezzy: Morata scored few goals last season but this season his record is very poor. Just 1 goal in the league and overall 3 goals in 24 games. That's atrocious record considering how good Juve are than the rest of Serie A teams.

it is shjowing off when you think how much we would have to pay for him

So Madrid signing Ronaldo, Bale, James; Barca signing Neymar, Suarez are all just showing off?

When you sign big players they cost more. It's not showing off.

For the money reported from the Cavani, Surely it makes more sense to spend just a bit more and get lukaku. He's playing well in the EPL already, younger and more of a physical presence.

You'd need a boat load more to even tempt Everton to talk.

Nobody of any note is leaving there this window.

And you're talking ridiculous money the summer. Kenwright's in no hurry to sell with the TV money/ wanting to build something and a very possible takeover still on-going.

He would, if Memphis knew how to use the overlap. He doesn't. He always cuts inside almost immidiately without waiting for overlap to catch up and take one defender with him. Then Memphis is up against two, loses the ball and you get hit with the counter.

Its frustrating as ****.

them buying them players made the team better geting cavann will not

Would be brilliant addition but I don't think he will leave in Jan window. We should be all over him and do everything to sign him.

Yeah, it's hard to improve on Rooney.

Gareth Bale, Anthony Martial, contract leaks, and a situation to be treated with caution.

The Spanish media are full of screenshots of what is stated to be the contract which saw Gareth Bale move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid. It's from something known as the 'Football Leaks' website which apparently has an aim to reveal the secrets of football.

When the Football Leaks website started, it was dedicated to Portuguese clubs mainly, and shedding light on the work of Doyen investment group. Documents had been taken and then published, and it's the subject of a criminal investigation in Portugal and, rather than shedding light, it appeared to be someone getting even.

Whilst it was believable that someone had got hold of documents relating to Doyen and Portuguese clubs, possibly by illegal means, because they could conceivably all be together, what has followed since seems a little convenient.

In the space of a few days, the website has claimed to have the full contract for Anthony Martial's transfer to Manchester United, and then the full contract for Gareth Bale moving to Real Madrid. The Martial paperwork didn't appear to be as accurate as perhaps it could be, with clarification over the player's clauses a little elastic.

For example, Manchester United are, according to the claimed paperwork, contracted to pay AS Monaco €10m if Martial is nominated for the Ballon d'Or, and whilst that outline claim fits in with previous reports, the actual contract would have been expected to clarify exactly what they meant, which shortlist. Nominations for the Ballon d'Or go through a stage of two shortlists and it's hard to believe that a legal team wouldn't have made that clear in a contract where €10m is at stake.

The Spanish press can't agree whether the leak means Bale cost €100,759,417, €99,743,542, €91,589,842 or €87,010,350, relating to various clauses and payments, and are all picking a figure which suits their earlier reports best. Basically, they're all claiming to have been previously correct but using different figures to justify that.

It's astonishing that in a short period, the transfer paperwork of Martial and Bale has been leaked, when the transfers had nothing to do with each other and nothing to do with previous leaks.

Indeed, you may say it's unbelievable.

Like I said, there are many holes in that document.

well i dont think he will be any better than rooney but if you do then more fool you

Yeah player whose first touch is a tackle is better than Cavani. 1 good and 1 decent game clouds people judgement so easily.

Even I don't want us to sign Cavani for various reasons but to tell Cavani won't be an improvement on this Rooney is nothing but foolishness.
