The Manchester United Thread

Lol, did you guys see all this drama in the media about Mourinho allegedly writing a letter to United board with a repair plan?

Jesus Christ, the journos just have no shame anymore, do they? Mourinho and LVG are very old friends. Jose went on record countless times that he learned a lot while working with Van Gaal. LVG's wife knows Mou's wife. Their kids know each other.

Do these scumbags seriously expect me to believe, that Jose went and basically tried to get his old mentor fired, because, well, he just really wants United job?

And even if Jose actually was that much of a ****, which I don't believe - that Jose would be so dumb and leave a paper trail? Something that can be leaked?

The whole thing is some the most disgusting pile of horseshit I've seen from a sports media.
I burst out laughing when I heard of that 'love letter' he might want the job, but the only time a manager writes a letter, it is to the fans or a farewell letter to everyone at the club, but in a world where Bale is thinking of returning to Spurs, anything can happen..

Dito. Remember to bump the 'wrong' post at the end of next year.

Saying England have more teams so they have advantage makes it so obvious.

Nice covering act though, as no one is saying what will happen for sure. People are saying if Italy matches England then 4th place is gone as that's how points are calculated.

Nah, England's keeping it's 4th place trophy no doubt.
Juve will almost certainly lose to Bayern, the way they are going, Roma will lose to real.I really feel that Chelsea will win against PSG this season after what happened last season, you can bet on City going through against kyiv while United have the potential to make a deep run into the Europa league(dortmund's got their name minted on the trophy already, though)Spurs could beat fiorentina and make a deepish run too, I don't think that will result in England losing the 4th place trophy, will it?

English teams arent arsed in progressing in the Europa. Never have been. By the time it starts again, teams will look where they are then prioritise the league. Teams arent even arsed about an FA Cup run nowadays. More money in finishing higher in the league and European qualification.

You think Chelsea will beat PSG? They cant even get away from a relegation battle at the moment. PSG will be laughing.

Miguel Delaney, how he convinced everyone that he is a journalist and got sources is beyond me. I used to believe him but the amount of **** he posts, lol.

Saying that Sid Lowe said Jose usually prepares excellent presentation about his plans for the clubs. He did it to Barca and Liverpool (when he was Porto).

Good that Mendes laughed it out, journos should be named and shamed like that.

Dude, simple maths FFS. Italian clubs gain .8 a win more than English clubs this year. That balances out with an extra team having two more chances per round to win the knockouts. Which is balanced out further on the lack of Champions League teams by the extra Europa knockout round.

The players seem to have a new belief now, we'll have a reality check tonight.Dont forget that they beat Porto last time out in CL, 2-0.Their performance in the CL wasn't too shabby either, they qualified in first place, we'll see.

If everything goes as expected then 1 English team in CL and 0 from Italy. That's hardly an advantage considering number of teams eliminated from PL is more. Also England will lost 4 points advantage of 2011-12.

Yeah will see. If England clubs don't get their head out of their ***** then they will have 3 CL spots which is nothing to worry for them because of new TV deal.

He'd be an absolute miracle worker to get that from the current group.

No. As I said before we have at least 7/8 really good players and the rest are decent also. Its just that they all seem to have forgotten how to play at the same time.

Also I wasnt referring to this season. This season Mourinho would comfortably put us into CL.

Personally think you've as big a rebuild as ourselves if you want to get back to the very top but time will out on that.

That is what it looks like every time Van Gaal's time as a coach at a club nears it's end, it is usually followed by an extremely successful era and in the last try has ended in a treble(Bayern)so even if the present seems bad, the future looks bright for us ;)

I wouldn't go that far, despite the **** results they are still in the top 4 hunt. hey a really good mix youth and experience just need a bit more quality. Liverpool well they need just about everything except AMs

When Van Gaal complained about preseason tour schedule, ManUtd cut down the preseason and camped in one major training base rather than covering entire US like we always used to do. But somehow Woodward doesn't care about football side of the club and is only worried about commercial aspect.

All down to opinion but you sit and pick a best combined XI out of both squads fully fit and you're looking at a 5/6 split either way.

Don't see much of a difference in either personally. Both are a long way short of a top end group.

Lol, ok then, so you think Glazers are good for this club, is that ultimately what you're saying?

Oh btw the "£250m" spent is a load of baloney in reality considering the departures and wages we cleared at the same time.

Everything about the Glazers is pure filth to this club, nothing good about them whatsoever. Anything they do they do it for themselves ultimately, don't ever be fooled or you become another one of their muppets.
If that were the case, they wouldn't have dished out that kind of money to sign anthony martial

I just wonder what else do people want him to do...

IMO, he's been really good. I can't fault any business he's done...heck he may have been the one behind the fax machine incident with de gea which was probably the best thing any fan would've wished for.

He supports van gaal in any way he can...tells him which player to sign and he tries his utmost best.

Making a team of the two solves little and to be fair Uniteds back 4 and GK would take each one over what Pool have because frankly Pools are ****. add to that Rooney over Benteke (cannot count Sturridge really can we?) Mata and Martial over Pool's width because they have zero, so barring Firmino IF he can do it week in week out and Henderson I do not think its a 5/6 split. but its neither here nor there ecause that is fantasy.

The mega difference between Pool and United and what will be the massive difference going forward is Uniteds defence, they have the best keeper in the league and possibly the world and their back four is pretty decent. They have shown they have a good defence and that is what wins you championships. Whoever replaces LVG is inheriting a good defence and spine when you add in schneiderlin and schweini, whereas Klopp is going to have to rebuild his and also Mignolet is going to be number 1 for the foreseeable future which is going to be a big hurdle.

Uniteds back 5 is not as good as the one Wenger inherited at Arsenal but you can very much liken the situations and look what happened there.

I think you're being very generous in United's favour there but it's all about opinion.

We shall see going forward but as regards North West football, I don't think City's under any real threat from either anytime soon.

in what way?

De Gea >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mignolet
Darmian >Clyne
Smalling > Sakho
Blind> Lovren
Shaw>Moreno
Rooney>Benteke
Martial> Ibe
Mata > Who even pays on the right? Milner?
Schneiderlin=Lucas possibly
Henderson>Schweinsteiger its close
Firmino >>>>Fellaini

Also I hate United more than most, but I can put that aside and look at it objectively and with a dose of realism, do not get me wrong I wish Pool was better and all that but they just are not.

What United need is either LVG to go **** it all out attack and go balls deep in this window or a new boss who will come in and take the handbrake off not a major rebuild at all.

If mourinho does come in, their real threat will probably come sooner than you think
