The Manchester United Thread

He definitely needs to win something to have any hope of staying for the 3rd season.
Actually he could qualify for the UCL next season, which would be impressive at this point, and be allowed see out his contract.

All true - which is why I dont understand why you cant see we need to buy a proper cb (at least)
There isn't actually very much wrong with this Man United squad, just needs solid back ups and changes in how certain players are used.

Signings
Young Centre Back(Mammana, Stones or Laporte?)
A more flamboyant and pacy Right Back(Mario Fernandes from Moscow is pretty good and must be looked at!)
A Left Winger(out and out winger, not someone who cuts inside like Memphis)-Theo Bongonda???
Renato Sanches- Go all out for him, please

Team Tweaks
Use Blind as Left Back mainly sometimes as back up Central Midfielder
Blood James Wilson into the first team
Use Young as a Winger, never at LB or RB

Philosophy changes
Stop going for big proven names all the time, look to make a long term team
Change back to 4-4-2

That will never happen as long as Woodward has a say on the footballing side of things, if we get that Berto chap from Atletico it may start to happen though.

I'd find it hilarious if we pipped City to 4th spot with Pep taking them over next season in the Europa league. :$

Sadly it won't happen, because as bad as they are this season, we are even worse.

I don't understand. You want us to go after young players but also want us to challenge for the title? You can't have both. We need 2 or 3 proven players to make us title challengers again.

I would love that. City just have an injury crisis like we have, with Kompany being out for a long time, they start to fail. Man Utd then start to pick up form with our injuries coming back, Martial and Rooney continuing to score goals and Depay deciding its time to show up.

Would be great.

Dont know if its true, but there were some rumours that Peps deal with City is contingent on them finishing in top 4.

Do you really want to be up in the league against Guardiola who has 7 days to prepare for every game?

If it means we have CL and they don't, of course?

It would be absolutely hilarious if they didn't make CL and Pep had to take part in the Europa League.

Mammana is FM wonderkid. Not that good currently. Need first team quality. Only Laporte fits there. Stones is overrated.
Mario Fernandes is another who's not good enough. Good going forward, liability defensively. Well, not really liability, but he gets out of position often.

Theo Bongonda? He has worse stats than Memphis this season. No thanks.

Renato Sanches fits well on the paper, but he's still 18. I would love him, but wouldn't expect Martial effect from him any time soon.

Blind has done very well at CB. Still if someone like Laporte is available, then go for him and use blind as backup. He's versatile enough and United squad is injury prone enough for him to have 30-35 games.

James Wilson has done nothing to earn right to be in the first team. He needs to go on loan first.

Young has done well as cover fullback. He's fine there.

You need mix of both.

Let me stop you there, CBJ didn't exactly light any places on fire and look how he has done so far in the first team? I honestly think he has better a shining light of this dismal season alongside Martial.

Players like Wilson obviously have huge potential but they need games, why would we want to send him out on loan when we are lacking goals ourselves and Rooney is looking back to his old **** ways? A few good games and a few goals doesn't redeem him for a dire season.

Also this applies to players like Pereira, how he is not getting any chances despite how poorly players are playing in the first team annoys me a lot. We're going to lose him if we keep him on the bench constantly for no reason.

Stones? Please.

Stones is like Blind, if Blind couldn't defend.

Remind me, what did Wilson do in last 6 months to get chance in the first team? Rooney has been in good form lately. Will Keane is in much better form than Wilson pretty much has ever been. Yes, he has potential, yada yada. This is Manchester United. You need to be good enough to be in the first team. Sort off. Can't explain how Fellaini is here, but hey. Anyway, to continue. CBJ did very well for reserves. And he was emergency LB after everybody got injured. And he's doing fine. I would ******* love to see Wilson doing fine, but thing is, currently, there are better options.

Why Pereria is not getting chances? Well, when he did play, he didn't exactly set the world on fire. Ideally I would like to see more from him and Januzaj. Hopefully they will get their chance soon.

Because unless that ball playing CB is a genuine upgrade,it's a waste of money. CB isn't an issue tbh. There is no point buying any other type of CB to replace Blind.

But you're forgetting that the aim for last season was 4th, this season it was admitted by LVG and Woodward to being 3rd and a small title push. So it's way below their expectations they had at the start of the season regardless.

The biggest mistake in all this is the boards indecisiveness just like under Moyes, it has cost us another season. If they had of acted at the right time and sacked LVG after the Norwich or Stoke game this season may of still of been salvageable.

I'm not, as of several weeks ago he was 100% safe, despite the paper reports. That's changed now.

Probably a random nobody.
