The Manchester United Thread

You could easily argue that 8 of them 11 players that played last night were viewed at starting 11 material beginning of season.

Smalling, Blind, Carrick, Herrera, Martial, Memphis, Mata, Lingard.... he started this first game against Spurs this season so why not?

So this team is now not good enough to beat a team that has not played since December?

You think we'd be any better under this clown with these injured players who we've already seen in this system and have mostly been bang average or invisible just like the ones out there yesterday?

If you don't see how 14 injuries can be massively disruptive, there's not much more to be said

The whole core of the team was missing yesterday...just take a look at the subs, it was like having a pre-season game to give u18s some game time.

Injuries aside, I don't think LVG survives this week.

I think we're arguing two different things here, I'm saying in the grand scheme of our problems LVG is more of one than the players he has available or not available in the case of injuries, because he's getting the best out of none of them.

Aston Villa, the bottom and worst side in PL acted on their manager after 10 games, what the **** are we doing?

Asked whether he watched the match, Powell told a news conference:

"No, I completely forgot - I was playing FIFA, if I'm being honest.'

'I did read the reports and, I don't know, it’s hard. They're under pressure because the gaffer has come out and said [winning the Europa League] is the best way to qualify for the Champions League next year.'

'They've had so many injuries, with Wazza going out and David was injured before the game.'
'But there's no excuse. They should have won, but that's just the way it is.'

And this guy played 21 minutes in our crucial CL game against Wolfsburg. :D

IMO that's an excuse. We are playing a team whose wage budget might be less than Rooney's.

We had players like Smalling, Blind, Carrick, Herrera, Mata, Lingard, Martial who were first choice players. If Van Gaal can't beat some Danish team without Rooney and De Gea then he needs to go.

Also performance wasn't any better when we had all players available.

Exactly man, you can say yesterday we had starting 8 out of 11 first team players, 9 if De Gea didn't get injured.

It's all excuses after excuses for Van Gaal, he doesn't get the best out of any player as you and I have mentioned.

We basically played a team who are a pub side in comparison and hadn't played competitively since December. We're just a laughing stock, even worse is the fact that the board doesn't take responsibility and act upon this mess.

Exactly. If we can get competent manager then our players look far more better than they are today. Everyone has regressed under Van Gaal and playing worse than they did for their previous clubs.

I wish I did the same thing...would've saved me the trouble of watching that garbage

why are the injuries even that important?

And look how well it has worked for them there still last and got hammered 6-0 by Liverpool

I'm not saying Van Gaal shouldn't be sacked but, surely you could find a better example to support your argument

Just seen this post on Facebook. Says it all.

We need pace on the wing=lvg sells Nani,
we need to score goals=lvg sells Hernandez and van persie ,
we need players to chase the ball down and lost causes=lvg sells welbeck
We need a right back who will get forward= lvg sells rafael
What we need is a leader that brings out the fight in players= lvg should sell himself

Linked with Nagatomo and Icardi, Nagatomo said he rejected the move and Icardi said there was some interest from United.

Lol, United couldn't have picked worse option than Nagatomo and sold better version of Icardi in the summer.

Also few papers running with Van Gaal getting sacked but when you read the content it's just nonsense with if he loses FA cup and knocked out of Europa then Arsenal tie might be interesting. These people are paid to write this. *facepalm*

Not to mention begging Arsenal to sell us Debuchy...

Point is, any club, no matter how good or bad would of acted by now apart from United.

9 WINS IN 5 MONTHS, that is atrocious.

Begging? Source? Don't know why you're so against the idea of us trying to get a full back in when we don't have our first choice, second choice or even third choice rb available. Like what?

Nani - Inconsistent. Wouldn't of solved our issues out wide.
Hernandez - Wanted to leave and was never going to get picked ahead of Rooney.
Van Persie - He's not good enough anymore. He had a great season 12-13, but you could see that he was declining the next season, and then even more the season after that.
Welbeck - Maybe was a mistake considering, but then again same problem, wasn't going to get picked ahead of Rooney.
Rafael - Very reckless most of the time and somewhat inconsistent. Sometimes he could be bombing down the left being a menace and causing all kinds of trouble for the opposition, other times he could be doing stupid challenges and getting Yellows and reds.

Nani > Mata, Lingard, any winger we have capable of playing as RW.
Hernandez > not having any back up. Also Rooney was playing worse, should have been Hernandez in the line up. Van Gaal poor management made him leave, he told him outright that he won't be the first choice so he left.
RVP - Agreed. It was better to let him leave.
Welbeck - Same problem like Hernandez. He was told he was way below the pecking order so he wanted out.
Rafael > Darmian, Varela, whoever can play as RB for United.
