The Manchester United Thread

Darmian>Rafael by a country mile, sorry.

Well, I think they are both useful to have in your squad as they are different types of players. As such I dont think one is better than the other.

Well yeah. I strongly prefer a defender who can defend first of all.

But people don't give enough credit to Darmian's attacking ability, he's not a master crosser or dribbler, but he has the confidence and bravery to always go forward in support, and the ability to recover if something goes wrong. To me that's perfect kind of skillset you can expect from a fullback. Defense first, but willing to go forward.

When I watched him playing for Italy vs England, he was awesome playing as LB/LWB. Even this season he started well, contributing in the build up but with **** poor crossing (which is his biggest weakness) but after the first month or 2, he is just afraid to contribute anything in the attack.

Same with defense too, he was rock solid at the start then later turned very average. Can't judge him though as this season everyone underperformed but Rafael showed much better performance in his time at United.

Mourinho in Milano: "Inter? I'm not going to return. Man Utd? I can't talk about it. I'm not looking for a club, let's see who'll call me"

It's all heating up.

When was that exactly? 50% of the time when he was injured, or 50% of the time when he was pausing for a red card?

Whenever he was fit and played. Rafael is a red card waiting to happen but somehow had only 3 red cards, that's something superb for a player like him who is a fiery character.

I said many times, he makes a cynical foul he is clueless and headless chicken, someone like Ivanovic makes a cynical foul, he is experienced and knows when to foul.

These arguments are already done long back and how there are double standards when judging players.

He was at United seven years, and averaged 15 league games a season. That's how unreliable he is. There's no point keeping a backup player who can never play. Darmian in comparision was injured twice and somehow still managed to have 18 games this year. Once he adds a couple when his shoulder heals, he'll have more games than Rafael ever managed in one season, with exception of 2012-2013.

They're not double standards because we're judging two different things. Rafael just loses his ****, fouls recklessly, refs see it and they book him. Ivanovic fouls cynically, with a cool head and he knows how not get booked. One is a good skill to have in a defender, the other is not. Carragher was a violent ****, for example, but he usually got away with it. Chellini fouls people in every contact, but he somehow always manages to play +40 games a season. And I could go on with examples.

Some players have a Master's degree in Dark Arts and they know how to get away with fouls. Some players are just not very bright. That's Rafael.

Moratti confirming Mourinho is as good a source as you're ever going to get, well that explains why they are holding on to LVG with every last ounce they can to get us through this season. But I'm doubting he'll even make the end of this season the way it is going.

Honestly, out of FA Cup and Europa and he'll be gone.

Somehow survives in one, he'll still be here.

Yeh but we have to appoint interim and Giggs reportedly doesn't want it. Mourinho won't come until summer apparently so it will have to be someone like Warren Joyce maybe.... god knows.

I'm actually interested to know whether this is going to be something LVG actually knows about or not, if he doesn't know about Mourinho coming in the summer and it has been done behind his back then this is going to cause some serious waves in the very near future.

Warren Joyce deserves a shot as interim manager IMO.

Confirmed by Moratti's sister. Jose is in Milan and will attend game against Sampdoria. They had planned for lunch as they didn't since he left Inter. Jose said yesterday that he won't go back to Inter at least now as it's Thoir project and he believes in Mancini (both Jose and Thoir), today Moratti's sister said he will sign for United.

Hopefully we make the sensible thing and hire Jose midseason so that he will get time to assess the squad for next season.

**** is a boss now, completely admin side. Field work, arranging cones, carrying training balls is left to people like Giggs. **** is above all the donkey work (H)

The best thing United can do is hire Zidane as next manager. Maybe results would be bad, but you can be sure that Zidane and **** would headbutt.

I'll go sit in the corner now.
