1) ******* is usually wrong

2) There's not a huge amount wrong with the quality of the players, just the mentality, if there is a manager out there who can turn that around, it's him

3) There are some excellent keepers out there; Horn, Leno (this guy is going to be a superstar, genuine Schmeichel like qualities)

4) De Gea may well not even leave. Unlike last year there has been absolutely no indication of any move

Sometimes I feel people overrate de gea.

And mourinho didn't need courtois to make all those super man saves at Chelsea last season cos they had a superb back 4. If we have a very good defense, then de gea won't make nearly as much saves as he normally would.

Mourinho has never been the type of manager to hinge on goalkeepers putting up performances, he makes sure those situations don't occur.

I've been talking about system for the best part of 2 years. When you get this right, it takes the pressure off individual players.

All you need now are a group of individual players that are better than average.

But as you'd still naturally take the counter view, we'll just it let play out next season under Jose or whomever.

I have no idea why you'd then make this post then tbh. So I'm going to ignore it.
 
I would replace Carrick, probably with Blind. Which means a ball playing CB (hardest target imo). Need a wide player and maybe a dominant mid. I'd also get Zlatan just for the lols. Striker is the hardest for me, I'd like to see Rooney under Jose, but also he is actually finished? Would rather add goals either side of him first tbh
 
In my FM game, Mourinho got the job and immediately bought Laporte, Icardi and Kongdogbia.

He's right. The system is what makes a player tick. Lvg's system made di Maria look like a pub player but he looks world class at PSG.

System is more important than individual ability imo. Look at leicester...their only stand out players are mahrez and vardy.

That shores up the spine of the team. He'd most likely play kongdogbia alongside schniederlin with herrera taking up that no. 10 spot

Your problems go a lot deeper than the manager and the way he set's out IMHO. He's spent £300 million or whatever it is on one of the most distinctly average group of players Utd have had in a LONG time. And I don't see how a manager change and adding a few to that will make that much of a difference to where you expect to be. Particularly if De Gea goes. Yeah, there's other up and coming very good goalies out there. But it's still a BIG drop off to everything he's brought the last few years.

But again, it's best left to see how it play's out on the field. You and I have had this discussion before and you don't think your squad is half as mediocre as I do so it's an endless debate.

Again with the de gea thing. You see, once mourinho arrives, he will sort out the defence. With a strong defence, we could have mignolet in goal and still keep clean sheets.

As for the average players part, I don't think he spent all of it on average players. I think martial will most likely come up strong...as will memphis. Juan Mata isn't average. Luke shaw is the future of england. Schniderlin was the best DM in the epl before he came to united.

If LVG goes in the summer, and DDG goes to Real Madrid, expect a turn around from Valdes. Not a long term option but a keeper thats been there and done it and would allow us to concentrate on filling other areas of the team. Possibly with a view to waiting a couple of years until one of the younger lads is ready.
