Yes, I think you are because even I want LVG to go and whilst I'm not Mourinho's biggest fan, there is no value in keeping LVG another season when you realise that there is very unlikely to be a better candidate available next summer when he retires anyway.

How do you know that? We don't know who will be available next summer. There is no way of knowing if a manager will be successful now or by future appointment, there are so many variables that can affect this. ****, I thought Ranieri and Bilic were the wrong options for their respected clubs, and look how well they have done.

I like how Van Gaal has developed many of our players, Smalling and Blind have really impressed, and obviously De Gea too, so we have a solid base to build upon. Shaw was a revelation at the start of the campaign and Valencia has proved many people wrong with his solid return. Then you have to acknowledge the exceptional work he has done with our younger players whether by luck or design, with Rashford, Martial and Fosu Mensah all major positives going forward, and a telling contribution from Lingard, Borthwick-Jackson and Varela.

I think tactically he is still learning and evolving around the style of english football, and he has been extremely frustrating, but I agree with his ideologies of controlling the game. We have improved so much defensively and I think he's finally realised that he needs to be a little less pragmatic at home - reverting to one holding midfielder has done wonders for our attacking threat and we're finally enjoying football as a spectacle again.

I honestly think another summer of spending and Van Gaal would certainly have us challenging again if we can attract the right players. Whether he is deserving of that chance is another thing, but if Mourinho is the only stand out candidate available then I'd rather keep some continuity with Louis. I think appointing Jose would be short termism and would not be in-keeping with the historical principles of the club. He would never have uncovered the talent already within the club, as Van Gaal has.

If we were to look at other candidates, I may be more tempted to let Van Gaal go, but every appointment is fraught with danger. We really dropped the ball with Klopp, although we were well placed with Van Gaal at the time, but now...who else is there? I'd love a gamble on Sampaoli or Bielsa, but the club would never take that risk, and with their supposed language shortfalls, few could argue with that.

I wouldn't mind Hiddink at all and would prefer him over LVG but I think he doesn't want a big club job for a significant period of time. He only seems interested in taking short-term roles like at Chelsea until end of season.

You're not, I'd much rather see what Van Gaal can do in a season that isn't so plagued by full back injuries. The fact is, the results and football have improved drastically in last 2 months. It's almost as if it helps to be able to field a squad with 11 players who can legally buy a beer.
 
LVG>Jose personally. Give him one more shot. If things go awry when the squad is injury free than so be it. I just wouldn't trust Jose tbh after his antics. I would only take Jose if he's the only one worth taking. I wouldn't even have him at Goodison tbh

You've always been a man of principle though, much like myself and Sir Bobby. Unfortunately football has changed for the worse with these trigger happy money men and greedy, spoilt supporters. I fear it's a matter of time before Jose walks in and destroys the core values of the club that I've cherished for almost thirty years :'(

Yeah that would be my biggest fear aswell tbh. All that can be done now is waiting and that's the worst part

Oh dude, I'm on record on here many times as saying I hope Utd get Mourinho as he's the worst case scenario IMHO. Completely with you there.

But another season under Van Gaal and his sterile ***** might just tip the match going fans in particular over the edge.

I hear you there. I know a shed load of match going fans and most of them have not renewed there season tickets and a few have not been going as much these last few months home or away and they never use to miss any games. And I'm not talking like fans who have been supporting just through the glory years I'm talking fans that have been supporting 30-40 even some of them 50 years plus. They just can't bare this dross style of football and bizarre team selections. Most of them don't like Mou either but some of them will be happy with the club to bring him in just to get us back challenging again and playing decent football. Me personally I will support LVG and the players and my beloved club, whatever they decide. I'm not a big fan of Mous cuntish antics but Fergie was no saint either in many ways. I am a fan of Mous wining mentally and win at all cost attitude and no denying he's a top coach/ manager. And I actually he wouldn't destroy our club.

Got to be careful here as this often degenerates into a slanging match as people take it the wrong way and get offended in some f-ed 'lesser fan/ better fan' way; but that right there is a major distinction between actually going the game and watching from afar.

If you're just watching via a screen, not that you're necessarily any less passionate or invested in your team than someone who through what ever circumstance is fortunate to be at the game you'd doubtless love to be at; you're more inclined to be happy if results are holding up in the main regardless of the method of getting those results.

But if you're paying hard earned money, and making sacrifices you probably shouldn't be in many cases just to be at the match, the number one thing you want is to be entertained. Yes, results ultimately are very important too. But if you're shelling out good money after bad to bored shitless most every week, those results soon wear thin. Football, as a fan, should be about entertainment. A chance to lose yourself completely for 90 minutes the end of a hard working week and escapes from the pressures of 'normal' life. An escape at the end of the week as it always was intended.

And even back two years ago when you finished 4th (and did everything you could to throw that away nearly to the last game of the season), you got the impression most Utd fans at the game were getting more and more frustrated and ****** off at the way those results were achieved. As the two City's have progressed over the years into the modern behemoths that both are, you get a lot of Liverpudlians travelling into Manchester and vice versa to work on a daily basis. So through the week you can often mix with and find out that City's vibe currently on the club. And there's not been one real period where you've felt many local Mancunian's were ever fully behind Van Gaal down to the inherently boring style of football. They wore it that first year as you at least rebounded and stabilised some what from Moyes to finish 4th. But this year the tipping point has been reached by many as you noted. There's only so much tedium you can take when you're paying to sit through it.

The empty seats surely won't of gone unnoticed back in Florida or wherever the Glaziers are hanging out these days. You're going back pre-Premier League for the last time that happened at OT. And when fans start talking with their feet, and profits drop, that's when you know you have a major problem and the board is forced to act. And if Utd retain Van Gaal, I can see things getting REAL ugly in the crowd at Utd games next year.

Take that for what it's worth. Just my take on living in the North West and knowing the general feeling around these here parts.

think that team is closest to our strongest and should have enough to blow Norwich away even though they are fighting relegation. Will most probably be a sneak a 1-0 or s bore draw.
