The Manchester United Thread

I do think he took unnecessary risk in selling the likes of Chicharito and leaving us short, but I also like that he allows space for young players to come through and into the main squad. We started this season too heavily reliant on the goals of Rooney and Memphis in hindsight, but I certainly didn't foresee such a drop in form/ability coming.

And I completely agree that he has failed to get the best out of some players. I always saw Schneiderlin as a more energetic box to box type and I don't think a holding role suits him completely. With Memphis too, I would criticise Van Gaal for his handling of the player. There were times when he had seemed to turn a corner, only to be dropped the next game. I think he's a complete confidence player and he needs to be given a long run in the side. Of course, Shaw's injury didn't help matters.

But then you must consider the improvements in other players such as Smalling and Blind. Louis hasn't been a total failure and I would still rather he saw out his contract than bring Mourinho in at this point.

We've gone backwards this season, and I'd much rather a more capable manager took our potential forward instead.

Very good what about the rest of the season?

What about the rest of the season ? You were top of the table in Semptember, no? Then you've had injury crisis so bad, Van Gaal had to use people not just from reserves, not just from U21,but even from U18 at some point. For like 5 months. Now you have most players available and suddenly you have excellent results. I wonder how that works.

It doesn't matter if you spend 250m, when most of that 250m spend more time in physio room than on training ground. Money doesn't play, people do.

Even now he STILL has to waste 1-2 subs on fullbacks every game, because most of them been out for so long they're not fit enough to play for 90 minutes. He can't even influence the game with subs, because has to make preventative subs by bringing fresh defenders.

Van Gaal has made some mistakes, but mainly he had to deal with one of the most ****** up strings of bad luck I have ever seen. Darmian never even missed a game in all of his time in Torino, and this season he's been out like 7 times.

How many excuses are in this post, every manager has to deal with squad management and injuries are a part of the game.

Fact of the matter is this, lets put it plain and simple, the aim for this season was 3rd, we're not getting it so he has failed.

We might be picking up wins of late, but it is by no means through the substance of football we are playing, as seen yesterday, performances are still often woeful.

Remember, that old saying, "you make your own luck", he hasn't helped himself and there was serious concerns raised by myself and others at the start of the season that certain areas hadn't been addressed enough and even one injury in that position would cause us problems. Referring to striker and CB mainly. We've actually been fortunate in the fact that Blind and Smalling have been consistently playing this season or we would of been screwed in that area as well.

I just don't see the value whatsoever in keeping him for one more season.... it would be a horrendous decision considering that all major managers are switching this summer so won't be available next summer.

We need to act now, also considering the fact as the big clubs are changing managers we will transition at the same time as them if we change manager now.

LVG's rotten football philosophy has been forgotten about in recent weeks by some on here it seems, the total garbage we have played this season has been masked by a sudden slight optimistic hope of top 4.

He hasn't got the best out of players, his signings have been very hit and miss, I still think he makes the most out of the issues he has to excuse the job he has done during his time here.

The only (small) reason someone can want to keep LVG is because of youngsters but that is down to injuries AND how he didn't address positions last summer that badly needed attention where he let a fuckton of players go.

Oh and I should also add it also sets a benchmark very similar to Arsenal if we let LVG stay for another season, we're no longer a club who demand success but rather accept that top 4 is our trophy we now happily compete for.

The club are never going to announce he's gone before the final. If he goes (and hopefully we've won it), they will thank him for his services, and make it look as good on him as possible.

That's what I thought is going to happen for a while now. It's a win win for the board. If he wins the cup they can say thanks and it can all end well and fans will be happy for him winning the cup. If we don't win the board will release him and say he's not reached expectations/targets and the fans will be happy with a change of manager and look forward to the summer and next season, most likely under Mou.

Win our last two games and we get champions league. please dont **** this up.

Arsenal has done us huge favour now.If this does not bring the passion out of our players **** them !!!!

1) Win next three games

2) Sack Lvg

3) Hire Mourinho

4)???

5) Profit

Will these players have the bottle?
I'd love to say I'm confident... But I'm not.

I really hope we don't blow it. But West Ham on Tuesday night will be doubly difficult as its there last home game at Upton Park and Bilic will have them fired up after there **** performance yesterday he won't except that again!

We have won 3 matches back to back only once this season which were the first 3 i understand your confidence level being lvg level right now XD
