The Manchester United Thread

Yeah I would have left it a day or two. Just watching the replays and as soon as the players picked up the trophy ED was on the phone in deep discussion. Maybe nothing, maybe give the go ahead. But things looked friendly with him and LVG maybe he knew already hence all the evasive answer in his after interviews.

I'm more excited as time has passed about Jose taking over, I wasn't a fan of it at first, but more I think about it more it makes sense for United and him at this time.

I'm happy for LVG though he can retire with his 4 trophies in 4 countries lark. Unfortunately though, for his sake, it just hasn't been good enough to merit another year and missing out on a manager with credentials as good as any in the game.

This won't be from the club. The whole point was to avoid what happened with Moyes.

Its really disrespectful to LVG for the story break out today, which makes me think it can't be coming from the club. Or if it did, the whole PR department needs to be fired on the spot, because this is a disaster. At least let the poor gramps celebrate for one day before he leaves.

As I was saying. Wasn't the club. They wanted to avoid exact this. They hold him in really high regard despite him going.

It really ****** me off when these things happen. Fair enough things didn't meet their standards or the club standards (if it was but I don't know)-but this is wholly unacceptable, and when people say "it's part and parcel of football these days" I get severely triggered. It's bang out of order, be it a non-league manager or a manager in the Prem. Regardless if fans like the manager or not, this is BS and wholly inappropriate behavior from the parties responsible. What people fail to grasp is that this is a persons livelihood being screwed over.

No doubt there's going to be some people who couldn't care less because they don't like him and say it's deserved, but what if it happened to them? They'd be up in arms in an instant and ***** about it to all their mates.

Edit-as Mike just confirmed wasn't club, whoever did this should be ashamed. But probably won't be

Bad timing, I just hope Jose has learnt from his mistakes and realises that this a huge job he needs to be a success in.

But the defending, or complete lack of it, that followed twice over wasn't.

Just adds to a ***** week.

Hooefully the the aggro that's followed won't happen at Wembley.
hows that week looking now just have a few cold ones then look 4word to next season upwords and onwords as thay say

I think the bigger issue is whether this is the job where he finally hits stability and stays longer than 3 years.

After Milan playing so well and Juve nicking it, just peachy.

Even that complete ******* going Utd isn't helping haha.

Was thinking the same. Was saying all the right things when joined Chelsea the second time about settling down and so on. Did not think it was going to work long term going back there long term. To much history. Hopefully after time out he will be back ready. And personally I think he's always wanted the Utd job. And sees it as a huge challenge to get us back and try out do Fergie.

I agree. I think/hope he sees it as his chance to cement a true legacy in the game as well. There have been plenty of managers throughout history who've been able to amass plentiful trophy collections and high win percentages. The few who have gone down in history as genuine legends have generally done something even more and created something at a club.

The biggest issue is whether his Madrid and London meltdowns were due to toxic culture in the club themselves, or whether he simply lost it. You may be in for quite a ride.

Safe and predictable is boring anyway :)

I couldn't see the game on time so just seen everything. I feel bad for van gaal, at least he got a trophy, but he should have been given some time to enjoy it. As I saw my first united games under him I'll have happier memories of his time than some.

i am excited and nervous about the mourinho appointment. Will also be interesting what it means for Rooney and carrick especially Rooney as he seems like a mourinho style of player. Also interesting to see with the youngsters what happens hopefully they aren't fazed out.

Anyway bring on the transfer window and euros

Who are Lingard and Rashford playing for next season? **** Mata might as well pack his bags to.

As soon as the ***** started to dance, I knew United will bag it.

The common denominator is him, how many managers at those clubs had a similar meltdown?

Didn't think we will win the game once down to 10 men as Van Gaal's ManUtd rarely showed it but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a fantastic strike and good to end the season with a trophy. It's been 12 years we won it and very unlucky many times not to win it.

Very pleased for Van Gaal. I'm a big fan of his career and what he achieved. Didn't end well at United but that shouldn't cloud anyone's judgement on his career. Good to see him ending his career/time at United with a trophy.

On the news of Jose appointment, whoever leaked it should have a word with themselves. Should have waited few days before leaking/announcing it.

Can't wait for the start of next season and even preseason.
