RASHFORD SIGNS NEW DEAL
Marcus Rashford has signed a new contract at Manchester United which keeps him at the club until at least June 2020 with an option to extend for a further year.

Rashford,18, came through the ranks of our academy and was handed a first-team debut for the Europa League game against Midtjylland. He grabbed his opportunity with both hands by scoring twice, a feat he remarkably repeated three days later on his first league appearance against Arsenal. Marcus has made 17 appearances and scored 8 goals.

Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward said:

"Marcus is a naturally talented footballer with great potential. He has taken his chances well and has integrated into the first team very quickly. I am delighted that Marcus has signed a new contract, he is at the right club to continue his development. He is still very young and we need to be patient but he is developing in the right way and we believe he has a great future ahead of him."

Marcus Rashford said:

"I am delighted to have signed a new contract. I have always been a Manchester United fan, so to be playing in the first team really is a dream come true. I am grateful for having the chance to prove myself. To be able to play football at the biggest club in the world means everything to me and my family."
 
BORTHWICK-JACKSON SIGNS NEW DEAL
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has signed a new contract at Manchester United which keeps him at the club until at least June 2020 with an option to extend for a further year.

Borthwick-Jackson,19, came through the ranks of our academy and was handed a first-team debut in our Premier League game against West Bromwich Albion in November. Cameron continued to make progress and went on to make 14 appearances for the first team. He also picked up the U21 Player of the Year award at the Manchester United Player of the Year awards, voted for by the Manchester United fans.

Executive vice chairman Ed Woodward said:

"Cameron is one of a number of young players to come through our academy to make their first team debut last season. This is something that our club has always done and promoting the academy and U21 players is something that makes everybody associated with the club very proud. I’m delighted that Cameron has signed his new contract and look forward to seeing him in the squad for many years to come."

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson said:

"I have grown up at United and have enjoyed every minute of being here. Last season was an incredible experience to make my first team debut and a dream come true for myself and my family. I feel it stands me in good stead for continuing my development as a Manchester United player. I will continue to work hard and take advice from the manager and his coaching team to improve with every training session."

hmm, I am not so sure about that.

off the top of my head in the last two years Barcelona bought Suarez for 75m, Turan 29m, then a host of 15m ish signings, also they had a transfer ban.

Real signed Danilo for 20 odd million, Kroos for 20m James rodriguez for 70 odd million,

last time I did maths that was more than 122m

and also if you check the players in and out at Atleti a lot are players coming in for players going out. I mean at quick glance they have had more outgoings than incoming in the last two seasons although the website I just checked did not differentiate for loans.

I know you support RM but I am incredulous at your extremely blinkered view that Athletico (AND EVERY OTHER TEAM WHO IS NOT RM OR BARCA!) are not clearly the underdog in Spain. The Liga is so financially and otherwise unbalanced in favour of RM and Barca, that decades would be needed to redress the balance if the whole thing was reorganised to be more equal opportunity ... FFS you even claim AM have spent more than RM and Barca!!!!

well when you consider the talent at both clubs yeah it is, I mean come on are you being serious?

Barce have Messi, Suarez, Neymar, Iniesta, LAves Alba, Rakitic

Real have Bale, Ronaldo, Benzema, Modric, James, Isco, Marcelo, Navas, Kroos

They both have a collection of players who are world clas, or not far away from world class

Atleti have 3 players who are world class IMO, Godin, Koke and Greizmann, the rest are very good players but make a team which can compete on world level. Atleti are on the rise no doubt about that but they spent 25m on Jackson Mrtinez then he buggered off to China, some of their bigger signings were youngsters. Also I am pretty sure they recruited with the knowledge they would be facing a transfer ban this summer too. I am struggling to see your point and you are being a bit silly here, the last window is obviously a rare occurrence.

also maybe compare the respective wage bills, not sure where to check but I would be surprised if both clubs don't have nearly double going out in wages what Atleti do again I am really struggling to see your point here

I think it will work, at least for a while. It's not like he has to start from scratch, Van Gaal already did all the heavy lifting. The results may have been ****, but it's a well organized team, superbly drilled in both defending deep and in pressing up the pitch, with plenty of young players who will only improve as the years go by. It's as good of a foundation as it gets.

It's just a case of whether Jose calmed down a bit, or if it will be meltdowns galore from day one.
 
Fantastic news about Rashford and CBJ signing such a big deal which means the club hierarchy rates them highly. Hopefully more will follow the path by signing extension.

Great news! And long deals. Like you said hopefully more will get the same. Be interesting to see who will go on tour, and I'm happy were looking to arrange another friendly or 2.

Yeah, hopefully the young gun Rooney will sign a +5y extension too. Don't wanna lose the kiddy. :-/
