The Manchester United Thread

I do think its cute how many of you think Jose will give your youth a chance lol, no more Borthwick-Jackson, no more Fosu-Mensah, no more Donald Love, No more Varela and no more Perreira. Rashford has a chance 100% but only because he's already proven himself 10 fold. You all have to remember Jose has been appointed for 1 reason and 1 reason only and that's to win things instantly, get that winning trophy feeling back to Old Trafford again something its forgotten and unless its a special case i.e class of 92 you don't win anything with kids. Jose is a no risk manager and kids are a risk, sorry lads.

Got to be honest I don't care about half of them you mentioned, like Donald Love and Varela for example.

But our signings will indicate whether CBJ will get a chance, at the moment he will very much be the backup for Shaw.

Fosu-Mensah well he is a utility player but I really think Mourinho will like him. But again depends on departures and signings.

Pereira... well you're probably right, although if rumour true Mata leaves, that opens up a space, if there is not another incoming.

Time shall tell anyway.

Its Mourinho. He is a born winner, He will sell anyone he needs to, wants to or feels like to get silver.

Selling Blind would be very brutal and Mata just as much, although expected. Can't see how Mourinho will want to risk having a player like Mata undermining him behind his back.

Can a freaking moderator change my handle into "Legend Incredhimovic"?

I still fully expect Zlatan Ibrahimovic to sign a 12-month deal at Man Utd with a option for a year as Telegraph Sport reported weeks ago should be done early next week.

So much salt in those tears. I mean it's almost like this myth hasn't been slightly blown away already

Thing is when people talk about youth, it's not the likes of Love, who would still be well away under a manager who likes bringing them through. But those who are already a cut above: TFM, CBJ and Rashford. How they are used will be more defining, rotational back up is where they should be

Any youth/reserves who wouldnt cut it LVG culled in his massive clearout, There is a decent championship squad in the 20+ he removed. Mou will be fine with the leftovers.

Fosu Mensah will get his chances surely without a doubt. Fosu Mensah, CBJ, Rashford work very hard on the pitch which is what Jose needed. CBJ might not get much chances as we have Shaw but Rashford and Fosu Mensah will get a lot of playing time. Fosu Mensah is a beast physically, perfect Jose player.

Bojack Crossman barely had a bad game, if he works hard I wouldn't be shock if he can fight Shaw for the first squad. Kid's got wicked cross on him.

Apparently Amoyal has confirmed the Zlatan talk in an article today. Says all that's left is to agree is agent fee, it's not been agreed yet as Riola is currently in Monaco dealing with a Serbian client of his. After that will be heading to Manchester early next week to wrap up the deal. Also Pogba enquiry likely.

Massive debate on the quality of the French League in 5....4...3...2.... :)

That could be made into a straight faced debate?

Shoot, salesman of the year and then some for anyone that did that for Ligue 1.

Anyone doubting player because of the league quality needs a tight hard slap on the face and should be reminded where the best players in the league came from.

Most are from La Liga, French League, Portuguese league.

Zlatan has done it in Spain, Italy, the Champions League and every word stage available. I can't believe anyone doubts him when he scored 40-50 goals last season.

Yup. It's a strange argument to make against Ibrahimovic not being a top striker.

I don't actually think Ligue 1 is all that bad, i mean lets face it enough quality players come from there. Its just most are picked up young so you never get to see them in their prime in the french league. I watch it now and again and the football is decent enough as you would expect as technique is a what they teach in France. Its just teams lack the highest quality of players so PSG will walk it every year.

As for Zlatan I am sure he will score for fun if the move happens, mainly becuase there are about 4 teams in the EPL that know what defending is and his record speaks for itself.

It's quite the paradox in France. IIRC, there's more French born players playing across Europe than even Brazilians. With some excellent ones in major leagues like Lloris, Pogba, Greizman, Martial, Payet et all. But then there's the flip side of a completely dominated one team league that makes Scotland look competitive at times and who's club have an absolutely abysmal record in Europe. But whilst the top quality remains converged on one club, and the overall interest and money just isn't there in the league, I don't see a way out for the French to improve things as they have to sell to survive.

It's not as **** poor a league as the SPL or Eradivision (Sp?), but it's hardly competitive and of a high quality standard as you noted.

*Edit* I didn't realise the French have now been surpassed by even the Portuguese Primeira League into 6th place in the UEFA coefficients. That's how far the league as a whole has fallen.

40-50 goals in a 'weak' league will probably equate to 20-25 in a 'stronger' league and how many premiership clubs have a forward who can do that every season? He's worth a punt in my view not just because he is free (so wages and bonuses will be expensive) but for the experience he can give to the younger players.
