The Manchester United Thread

Think ill back you guys to win it. Tasty price 9/2

I think you should back Liverpool. They have klopp who can cure cancer so winning league shouldn't be an issue. Also they have 19 year old kid who barely played at top level but is better than Blind.

You are losing money by not betting on them, at least that's whate we read here.

Seriously though, Arsenal and City looks better choice. One team have settled squad and added quality player and city will sign big players on top of having very good attacking team.

1/2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been named in Sweden’s provisional 35-man Olympic squad. He has said he won’t make a decision until Euros over

2/2. Coach Håkan Ericson: "My hopes are not huge.” Sweden play first game on 4 Aug. Man Utd play Leicester in Community Shield 7th Aug.

Fecking buzzing since the fixtures come out. Really happy tbh with how there spread through the season! And just feels a step closer to the start of the new season and new era under Mourinho. ;)

If we can get him and Embolo for around 40m that would be great business and address all our attacking options we lacked from last season. Add to that Zlatan and Bailley we nearly sorted out squad out for less than a 100m without any out goings yet either so our net spend would be very good. Plus the signings we made would give us a good balance of youth and experience. Then hope we go for Gomes in CM then there's still plenty of cash for a big marquee signing.

What you say is all well and good but where is the established class cb we are so obviously lacking?!

Well ****. Opening with Howe won't nark SNO half as much as opening with Klopp.

We'll see yers in October. Looking forward to the challenge.

What challenge mate get real Im willing to bet good money that you ll barely make sixth!

Don't think we are tbh. Our defence was good last season tbh. What we need is a proper CB that has pace, power and good in the air which we have bought. Bailley and Smalling will be a good defensive partnership, they have everything together tbh. I don't care about ball playing CBs and all that bollocks and neither does Mourinho. First and foremost he wants CBs to defend and Smalling and Bailley are very good at just that. We have more than enough experience in the back despite our defensive players being of a fairly young age. Most of them have plenty of games and are league winners and full internationals. Once Mou has them drilled and organised job sorted.

I know what you are saying but:

1) Smalling has brainfades especially if playing next to somebody not better than him (or in the case of Blind, not really a cb).
2) I dont care about ball playing cbs either but Blind is NOT a cb whichever way you look at it and we HAVE suffered a number of times due to his no sense of positioning etc.
3) Blind is too short and not powerful enough at cb.

Blind don't come into it tbh now we've signed Bailley who addresses all the weaknesses he had and our defence had. Smallings mistakes will go down under Mous coaching and with a proper CB along side him. Even the likes of Rojo will become solid under him, who was actually playing well at CB before LVG shifted him out left.

1. I thought that about Rojo myself but frankly Im not sure any more.
2. Bailly is too young and not used to the intensity of the English game. Im worried that he wont address those weaknesses from the get go and next season every ****** point will matter!!

Think Bailley will be fine. He has more than enough experience. Yes I know Prem is different but he was a key player in his team winning the AFCON also. Gotta trust Mou he obviously rates him and trust him.

Yeah I would say what Smalling needs is a taller, quicker version of Blind. Someone to be a Rio to his Vidic, basically. Bailley might get there, mind, he would never make it in Spain without being competent on the ball.

Also, I wouldn't be so quick to be mocking Lord Jesus Klopp. He took them to two cup finals without any transfers and pre-season work, and now he'll have full season to focus entirely on the league. If you're not worried about gegenpressing team that can have 7 days of rest before every game...you will be.

Fun times ahead.

I would be concerned if there weren't Liverpool in that equation.

Lol. Remember that whole pedro fiasco last summer? When the media were like "Pedro snubs united to join chelsea"

It even got worse after the first game. Lol. Now he wants to run away. We certainly dodged a bullet with him

MAN UTD TARGET 'GOING NOWHERE'

Manchester United transfer target Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not be allowed to leave Borussia Dortmund until his contract runs out, according tothe Bundesliga club's chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke. Speaking to ESPN Watzke said:

"We have been negotiating a new deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan for four months. We now know he won't sign an extension. There was never a promise that he can leave us prematurely.

"We have intensely discussed the question of an early transfer in all club bodies and came to the conclusion that Mkhitaryan will stay in Dortmund next season."
