The Manchester United Thread

However Pogba deal turns out, I can't help but think you wouldn't have to spend such an obscene amount of money if past recruitment wasn't so ******.

I mean for God's sake, it was just couple of years ago that Modric was available for 30 million.

We did go after him. He rejected us for Madrid.

Ta for that. I read that early and I thought I recalled Fergusin being heavily in for Modric. But I didn't want to question it as I wasn't 100%.

We didn't go for him when Chelsea bid, because we knew they were ****** with Chelsea. We went in season after, but he was set on Madrid so it never went further.

True. But despite the monstorous fee and everything else along with it. I can't help but admire the fact that we have the bottle to admit a mistake we made with a talented young player that we mistakenly let go of before in order to get him back.

I don't understand the logic of why one has to sign him to admit the mistake of letting him go. You can admit a mistake without signing him.

Whats with all this controversy over Martial not being informed that the No.9 shirt was stripped from him? Rather petty from the management if true

Stupid incompetence not petty I think. Martial seems to be annoyed as he changed his profile and cover photo on facebook to ones clearly featuring the number 9

Hey now. You know Zlatan's really in charge. :P. And what Zlatan wants, Zlatan gets!

Scholes criticism is interesting in its timing. He's been more critical if Pogba than he has of Rooney. Yet as recently as last year he said we should bring Pogba back. Hmmm

More wonga :)

I don't think this is some stupid story journalists concocted on a slow news day. Asking a player before taking away his shirt number (a coveted number at that) is pretty SOP at literally any club, even a Sunday League one. The fact that United did not do so is hilarious and ridiculous in equal measure.

Player actually rarely get asked too much about this (I've cut a feature about this before) they get asked their preference and of there is a particularly unique number like 23, that gets used, but outside of unique numbers they are usually just assigned. he's gone from 9 to 11, the only number more legendary than 11 here is 7. So that argument doesn't work. Someone should have told him, but it really isn't a big deal. People outside the club will talk about it more than people in the club will.

Joking on this aside, Martial will more than likely of gotten a nice 'present' from Zlatan to compensate the switch of #'s. Sounds very spurious he knew notiin' about it.

No he wouldn't. Wish people would stop making things up to make it sound much worse. He's just got the second most legendary number at the club. No major CF would have come to the club and not got that number. People hear Zlatan and make **** up.

I'm not making anything sound worse. That happens often up and down the Country.
