The Manchester United Thread

The Chelsea Mata more than likely wouldn't of chased and persevered like that, he's added these elements to his game and it's there for Jose and all to see. Top player with an added work rate now.

This.

Tyton said he doesn't see any differences but it's clear to see. There's a reason he's starting today for mourinho.

Who would've thought of Mata scoring mourinho's first United goal?

Bailly having a really good first half. He's looking really good so far got high hopes for him thunderous tackles and some nice passing

Yeah...no. Mata always put the effort in. Even in his last half season with us, he was most definitely giving it his all and trying to press, he just wasn't very good at it. Let's not get all revisionist and circlejerky.

I would say Van Gaal taught him thing or two about pressing. But also, he's not as prone to switching off as he was at his time at Chelsea. He was never lazy, just not very good at it.

He got the ball but **** he need to tune down his aggression.

Superb backheel from Mata, great strength from Valencia, and a really good finish from Rooney.

Nice goal by Bournemouth.
Only concern I have with this team/lineup is that we lack pace.

Don't know what implant they've operated into Valencia's leg but it clearly works. He's our right side basically...think he could even be the 5th official.

two games in English football, two Man Of the Match awards, I think Bailly is settling in fine.

Rooney must have something in his contract making him start games, I'm convinced of it.

All in all, good win.

Captaincy. As long as he's scoring the odd goal and assisting here & there, then his captaincy will all but guarantee him a starting place. I for one am not in agreement that he should make way though, he always tends to need games to improve sharpness, anyone else notice that? Almost completely loses his touch after any sort of competitive breaks. But a hungry Wayne Rooney, in a side that believes they can win titles, is an animal.

Judging by recent seasons he needs half a season just to get close to some sort of footballing ability resembling Rooney of old. Although lets face it Rooney will never be the player he once was anymore.
