The Manchester United Thread

Well, that was thoroughly deserved. Not many teams will go to Anfield and get a clean sheet. Terrific set up, terrific tactics, really good all round performance, particularly in the first hour when COMPLETELY shutting them out and not allowing them to string 5 passes together. Herrera fully deserved MOTM, he's been as good a #6 as I've seen so far in the league, Fellaini was also really good, as was Valencia (what a world class challenge on Firmino), Smalling, Young & Bailly. Ibra handled the hardest role in world football like a proper pro today; a lone striker with limited runs off him. I could sit here all day naming out what everyone done good today, but as a whole, superb. On to Thursday now, get it out of the way, and hit Chelsea more positively on Sunday at Old Trafford.

It's at Stamford Bridge.

You just think that because our smothering midfield made them look that way, if we were more naive in pushing men forward, trust me, it would've been a different story.
good result and performance. Not many if any will get out of Anfield with a point or without conceding. Herrera MOTM.

I'm not even happy really with that result because I just feel we could of beat them if we were a bit more expansive, they were there for the taking tonight.
If you had played expansive our front three wouldv'e destroyed united with the space that would've been available. Mourinho got his tactics spot on, zero space for the LFC attack for majority of the game and you could've won it if Zlatan was more clinical. You should be happy matey because that was an excellent away perfomance.

Maybe your right, but for me United goes out to win games. Today we went out to contain them and come away with a point. Luckily for us we did and we executed the plan well don't get me wrong. But I just can't for the life of me be happy with us just going there to take a draw from the start. I mean we didn't even have a shot on target against a keeper who has looked very flappable and we didn't really test him in the air either.

Are we going to take that approach to every big game away from home? ****** hope not. It was a bit of a snoozefest. Hope we at least try to get 3 points against Chelsea and set up with a bit more intent.

What the **** Ibrahimovic is doing lately I have no idea.. should of buried his chance tonight and one vs Stoke.
This is anfield tho. You don't play expansive football without playing into klopp's hands...doubt me, watch how leicester, arsenal and others get torn apart.

Bailly was absolutely superb. Surprising how our least hyped signing has been our best signing of the summer.

Oh. But to be fair, do you not think the fact that Liverpool have been arguably the most fluent team in the league so far, didn't warrant a careful professional performance here? I don't think we'll be as wary against Chelsea.

Yeh true, my negative side is kicking in. They just looked really ordinary first half.

At least we got a point out of it and come away with something. But if we draw or lose to Chelsea, for me this means very little as we could be 7 or 8 points behind by then to Arsenal and City.

Yeah, playing for a draw would've been fine if you weren't already five points behind top 2, with tough run of games coming up next.

Beat Fenerbache that 4 wins and 1 draw from our last 5 matches. Going into Chelsea game, and confidence will start growing. Especially after that little blip.

Played for a point, got a point. Not disrespecting you guys but that was a pretty **** game. Neither team produced the football they were capable of...
Smart move not attacking Liverpool at home though. Bailly was impressive it has to be said and top class from De Gea as always.

On another note, Rooney not playing tonight and hardly anyone bats an eyelid. Definitely the end of Rooney, hopefully his last season so he leaves with a shred of dignity. As he nearly cost us twice in the space of like 15 minutes he was on by letting Milner go.

I would agree with you on any other game barring going to Anfield on a Monday night, under the lights, facing a side who are blowing teams away.

Not only did we take a point, we took 2 points off our title/top 4 rivals. Job well done for me, would've took a draw at Anfield all week long.

It's 8 games tho. We have 30 more games to play

The base hilarity/ irony of Chelsea fans trying to ridicule other fans aside, that just encapsulates all that is wrong with modern day footie.

I still can't get my head round that being the lowest percentage of possession Utd have ever had in a PL game.

That can't be right can it as that's just staggering when you think on it?

its just another pointless stat the only 1 that matters is the score

I'm shocked tho but not overly bothered. The possession stat is the most useless Stat in world football today besides pass completion.
