The Manchester United Thread

The deficit slightly flattering, but a good performance from United. Particularly in the second half, when we went back to 11 men. (SorryNotSorryMaroune)

Happy with that! Played ***** tbh apart from maybe 15 mins in the second half. Scored 3 Martial played well again. Pogba my MOTM. Romero plays we keep clean sheets ;)

Thought we were actually good for large parts of that second half, quite a few waves of pressure, but they had their chances too (although less so in the second half).

They're bound to be absolutely kicking themselves they didn't get at least one away goal to show for their efforts, but not complaining!

Tonight just showed me why we are after Griezmann. He would of gobbled up some of those chances tonight and over the season, especially when we have drawn so many. Oh btw Egg head castles tweeted today he's been told he will be Rooneys replacement in the Summer.

"Well I don't feel sorry for them but....." - 20 seconds later: "As I said, I felt a little bit sorry for them".

If I didn't pick that up wrong, another Michael Owen classic.

Played well but could see Mkhi was missing in the CAM spot.. Fellaini shambles and Lingard didn't change much!

Rashford keeps on being the super sub tho <3

This is exactly what I was hoping Mourinho could offer when he came to United, to instill that winning mentality back we had like under SAF. How many times did we not play very well under Fergie and come away with results when not at our best? That charachteristic is now coming back to us under Mourinho and it feels great to say that. Because under Moyes and LVG, it wasn't there, when we played below par, we often would lose.

Be good to have Rooney and Jones back we need as many options as possible with our crazy run in. If we progress in all comps we could play something like 28 games or so in the next 2 and half to 3 months. Nearly a game every 4 days.

With LVG, it was more complicated than that. In LVG's first season, i remember that good run of form we went on a 6 game winning run between october and november, beating liverpool, arsenal and southampton but did we really play well in those games? I'll describe how each of those games went

United 3-0 Liverpool:

This scoreline flattered us really. We could've easily shipped 3-4 goals if it weren't for the heroics of de gea. We didn't play well but we were so efficient in front of goal. Liverpool's **** poor defence helped in that regard.

Arsenal 1-2 United

I'm not sure how we won here in truth. Arsenal laid siege on our goal for the first 45 minutes, missing a plethora of chances that would've put them 3, 4-0 up against us but were let down by poor finishing more than de gea heroics. We came out in the 2nd half with a more defined gameplan and took advantage of a mixup between Szcenzny and gibbs, scoring an OG. Bear in mind that we had no shots on target leading up to that point and led with no shots on target (amazing). Arsenal started throwing bodies forward and we picked them on the break with some diagonal passes from the back.

Southampton 2-3 United

We forgot how to pass a ball yet we still won...LMAO. Having fellaini at DM was an absolute disaster plus mcnair had a mare.

Just a handful of games but i'm sure we had more games like these. We got a lot of wins during LVG's first that the performance on the pitch didn't warrant.

But too many draws and losses that the performances did warrant, which is almost polar opposite to this season.

Good win. St Etienne put in a good account, but ultimately we were the better side. Don't think 3-0 flatters us given some of the excellent saves Ruffier had to make, but it makes it sound like St Etienne were poorer than their performance was.

To be honest, I know this will be controversial, but Conte at Chelsea has eptiomised the winning mentality with that squad. The amount of times I've seen them this season and not play (particularly well, only have a few chances) but still win has been a testament to that.

Long way to go. But what a season it would be for us and Mourinho if we won the CS, EFL, FA, EL cups and got top 4 #Believe (6)

Andreas Periera just had an interesting game. Scored a goal got an assist then got a red card for pushing a player in the chest. The most softest red I've ever seen. Will 100% get recinded.

Difference between the la liga and the epl personified.

In the epl, you wouldn't get a yellow.

City needing a replay means that the Manchester derby is going to be pushed quite a long way back
