The Manchester United Thread

FWIW, don't want Perisic. Good player, but not the same level as Mkhitaryan, and Martial has a ceiling that'll comfortably surpass him. Would be the definition of a 'meehhhh' signing for me, and a bad one if it were to force Martial out the door.

I wouldn't mind him as an option for the left wing. Be an big upgrade on Young and give us better depth! And he does have quality. But not for the price quoted! Plus Perisic agent denied it.

Thing is, if he comes here, there's no chance he's going to be just an 'option'. He's started like 25 times for Inter already this season, they're starting what's a pretty exciting project (from what I hear, don't know too much about it), everything's rosy for him over there, he's not going to back his bags and come here just to be an option.

Which keeps bringing it back to the arguably rather unsettled Martial.... who I think the world of. Where would he fit in? He's too good not to be starting week in/week out, and he's at that stage of his career where he just needs to play, develop, and kick on. With Mkhitaryan, Martial, Rashford and Lingard we have plenty of options who plays inside left, don't think signing him to halt Martial's progress, or even worse, force him out the door would be the brightest thing. I think Griezmann is the signing we need, playing off Ibra/Rashford.

We shall see I guess. I wouldn't mind him here. But obviously not at the cost of Martial leaving, which I don't think he will. Think Griezmann is happening. If Young, Rooney, Wilson, Januzaj all leave and Zlatan gone next year I wouldn't mind 2-3 attacking players coming in this Summer. One think I like about Perisic is he has a great left foot and very comfortable playing on either wing. Had a cracking cross and high chance creation for his team mates. And his dribbling and pace are good also.

Maybe Jose thinks our wide options are a bit much the same. Martial and Rashford like to come in off the left more like inside forwards. Lingard, Mky, Mata the same from the right always drifting in linking up play coming inside like extra playmakers. Maybe Mourinho wants a more tradition winger who likes to stay wide and put in good crossing. Also staying wide leaving more space inside for whoever plays behind Zlatan. Just a thought.

I agree tbh, if I was United fan wouldn't really want Perisic given your wide options, probably just an alternative to Greizmann or something. Would block Rashford and Martial too not a move I expect to see probs just paper talk, and a would sooner throw money at them and get Barbosa as he is ******* wasted there had really high hopes for him once he made the move to Europe but not working out so far, hope he can sort it out though because the kid has talent to burn.

Mourinho has come out and denied any reports that he was there to scout or negotiate for any players the other night. Just that he was there to see a friend and enjoy the weather while attending the game. Been confirmed that we did send our head scout to the French match against Luxembourg though.

Oh and on my earlier post. Both Henderson and Tuanzebe were fantastic against France U20s.

Glad to hear Lingard getting a new deal. Very good squad player. Also read Rojo and Herrera will sign new ones at the end of the season.

Yeah, nice goal from Mkhi. Rashford was also terrific when he came on for England; Marcus Rashford: Completed the most dribbles (7) and created the most chances (7) in England vs Lithuania despite only playing 30 minutes

Yep good Cameo by Rashford. Only reason I watched tbh.

Would of been a good international break if not for Jones and Smalling getting injured. From what I read most of our lads have played well. Mky getting a goal and fitness back. Shaw even getting game time. Read today Pogba could be available for WBA which would be great! Would start Rojo and Bailly for that game, Shaw at LB. hopefully gets a run now the other 2 CBs are injured.

Fellaini pulled from Belgium squad. Damaged foot/toe could be out a few weeks. So likely no Fellaini, Herrera, Pogba, Smalling, Jones, Rooney for WBA.

United have signed Will Vint, a 15-year old American midfielder. Son of Everton’s Academy Director Peter Vint. Has had trials at Everton (surprise) and Fulham.
