The Manchester United Thread

As "bad" as Zlatan has been lately, I really hope he's not career ending injured.. :( ....

Absolutely. What's the early word? Doing a million and one things here between replying so honestly haven't seen anything since I switched off on the final whistle.

Mate you're making the point. You made it hard work because you struggled to put them away and they had enough chances of their own. They just lacked any quality. You struggled to put away a very mediocre Belgium side. And laboured for large periods when they looked your equal across the park. That's'not a good display. Congratulations on progressing. But let's not window dress this to something it wasn't.

We're in April now. This has been happening all season long. That's not the sign of an unlucky side. That's the sign of a poor one.

All those L'pool PL sides you used to laugh at? That flattered to deceive and couldn't finish the job? You've become them.

What do you mean by "don't finish the job"?

You'd be seriously ****** off though wouldn't yer? You've more or less played every game to this point. And when you can almost touch the silverware, you're back the bench.

It's a tricky one for the manager to weigh up.

Correct, I would be ****** off, that's why I'm saying at least throw Romero a bone and make him first team goalkeeper in the league for the remainder of the season. Because if you just bench him he's going to be furious, and he's been an amazing asset as backup, despite having the style of goalkeeping that keeps people on the edge of their seats.

Mourinho said he's not optimistic about the injury :(

Well, hopefully for both him and Utd the coming days will bring more positive news.

I'm beat and am going to have to turn in.

Congratulations on progression. Friday European draws sat with a zillion browsers open waiting to get the jump on cheap trips are some of the maddest and most enjoyable days of the year. Hate when your not involved so I might be just a little bit envious tomorrow. Particularly if it's Vigo. A few days in Spain would go down fantastic right now. Sighs.

At least you didn't give Zlatan an extension yet. Because if that's a knee, he's finished unfortunately.

United actually played pretty well, some poor finishing and some quality keeping. Struggled when Rojo came off for a spell, as Tyton said it should have been 5 from us. We can't be that wasteful. Bad news on zlatan, but if rashford continues his return to form we will be good as his pace is doing things zlatan couldn't. And if that's a homer view then we might as well start discounting rival fab views too...

Pogba Stats were

123 passes
91.8% pass completion
11/14 successful long passes
3 key passes
2 dribbles
9 tackles
3 interceptinos. Beast !

Well, the weakest of the bunch, Celta Vigo it is in the semis, although don't underestimate them. But really and truly, we should comfortably get through this tie. (Yes I know I thought that about Anderlecht as well).

Celta Vigo :) away first great stuff! 10th in the liga and lost 14 games this season I think. Should be doing these! And one of the worst defence records in Spain.

Happy with that. Definitely had our rub of the green with the draws this campaign. Need to keep knocking down any team that comes in our way!

Score a couple goals in the first leg at their place and it should be as good as done.
Yep away goal key! Just need to watch Sisto and Aspas. Apart from that they really are average and just a work horse team with energy. There pitch will make it tricky that's about it.

Or hear me out on this instead why not dominate the game but miss a number of key chances before letting them score with virtually their only shot to make it more interesting for the home leg where something similar can be done but maybe scoring once or twice

Envious as that would be a great little trip.

It'll be a lot sterner test than you all are flippantly dismissing them as. Aspas has remembered he's a pretty decent goal scorer since he's gone back to Spain. Some tidy individual quality in that side. And they put out Donestk who were right up there among the favourites to win the UEFA Cup the first knock-out.

And then there's Rossi. Now that would be ironic if he did for Utd.

You've got to be happy with that draw, glad to have avoided both Ajax (who are starting to find their feet on the European stage once more) and Lyon (never trust a French team their league is better than people think). They will need to look out for that Sisto kid if he is anything as good as he was in last years FM then he will be a beast.

Unless he can score from his surgery table I don't see that happening!
