Agree with this, why I put both Mata and Lingard as backup in my lineup, but I think Rashford can start out wide for us next season

Think Rashford starting left depends on Martials end of season form and pre season. Just my opinion I prefer Martial out on the left to Rashford.

Somebody else recently highlighted the dire straits of their squad in more detail. Their only decent central defender is Stones. They have no competent fullbacks or goalkeepers. Central midfield is also a disaster. Yaya Toure is still getting games, Fernandinho is starting and Delph/Fernando get minutes. KDB isn't good enough to play as a central midfielder and Silva is on the decline. Gundogan is totally finished. Their front line is talented but young. The goals that they've been scoring are systematic magic. I don't see how this isn't an accurate analysis.

The Gundogan, Stones, Nolito and Bravo signings are questionable. Bravo has cost them the title potentially (City are one of the best defensively in Europe) and they haven't addressed the pensioners at fullbacks. That's Guardiola's biggest mistake. How's that an irrational analysis?

And I agree with what you're saying about Jesse, but something the likes of him, Herrera etc do that some of the more glamour names possibly don't, is do exactly what you tell them with every fibre in their body. Easily motivated.

LOL at Herrera. Most overrated United player I've seen in a while. Seen United fans compare him to Kanté. Decent tactically but limited. Plays in AW favourable role. Mourinho will replace quicker than you can say Saul.
 
That's decent analysis but it's lacking in Juego de Posicion department.

Rashford is a 9. Keep him on the left and he becomes a kick and rush player. Why would you play a 4-2-3-1? Why you'll need a 9 and wide forward. Mata is easily expendable and Herrera has no justification to be starting. Fellaini should be nowhere near the match squad. Luke Shaw is physically finished and a left full back is needed. Quality > quantity
 
There's no way you go into next season without replacing Zlatan. Rashford isn't ready to score 25 a season, though he can certainly contribute a lot.

Herrera's become quietly brilliant again. Positionally hes excellent and he maintains our tempo constantly both in attack and defence, creates well from deeper too.

Took one peek and Damola's post and remembered why i left him on ignore.

Mourinho will want to switch between 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 plenty, So you're looking at a CB, DM, RB and Striker. LB and flexible attacking player might come into it if price is right.

So false #1 in Bravo, 1 decent centre back, no fullbacks, an over rated midfield = one of the best defensively in Europe. lol. Under Mancini maybe.

I was right with you till then. (Personnel mostly sucks!!) We're not even the best defensive team in Manchester at the min.. lol. We could be potentially if/when Pep gets people in, flashes have shown that, but we're far far away from it.

You didn't really need the forward firepower reinforcements tbh. Gundogan made sense definitely, just a shame about the injuries. Full backs and CBs should have been the priorities

Spurs, United, City, Chelsea and Liverpool are in the top 6 for least shots conceded in Europe this season. The managerial talent has improved defensive systems in the league. The shot quality City have conceded are of a moderate quality. Bravo is the difference.

Totally agree, the fb situation should have been address going into 14/15 at least. Could have had Shaw & Clyne & Trippier for Mangala £££ alone.. lol.
 
Gundogan is a great player, but it was a dumbass decision to base the team around a player who's had like 3 years of constant injury problems.

The Premier league is seriously deficient of central midfield quality.
