The Manchester United Thread

Just finished watching the match again. Don't know why lol. But after watching extended highlights of the City game before hand. It just goes to show how important Pogba is to our team. I would go as far to say THE most important player. Without him there is not link up play from defence in to the attacking players. Against City we missed that ability to transition from defence to fast counter attacking football when in possession. And today against Swansea despite seeing much more of the balk we didn't have his quality to spot Rashford making very good runs. For me better depth in CM is just as key as the attacking signings this Summer.

THIS^^ I sat almost all game and asking the United players on TV how they not can pass it when Rashford keeps making those absolute bonkers runs.. Everyone just passed it sideways or started dribbling in to Swansea players..

I still can't believe PL clubs wouldn't pay pitiful 30 million for Modric. How can you be so blind. The guy deserved world transfer record much more than eitther Bale or Pogba.

Hey we wanted to! Chelsea maybe not, but United did.

When I see rashford not being picked out enough, I have no interest in Dier. Certainly not at 40 million pounds. Get into the cl and go big on Carricks replacement, a multifaceted player who fits alongside Pogba and Herrera and can sit in for them.

Lets go for Busquests. Barca might be tempted to sell.
White text.

Bakayoko anyone? Lol. He's not exactly Carrick but he's still a **** good DM

Have a quick question for Utd fans here, now right this second i accept Jose's beliefs that winning the Europa League is the more realistic way into the Champions League however surely that wasn't the case before a ball was kicked?????? Surely Europa league is second priority when you've hired a world class manager and spent what over 200 million to bolster your squad? So even if you are to win the Europa League would you class this season as a bad one or not?

Getting CL is all that mattered this season for me. Don't get me wrong I had hopes of a title challenge but things in the league haven't worked out for a number of reasons. I consider this season a success if we get into Europe. We will have won 3 trophies, maybe made top 4. Gone a long way into sorting out the squad. Fazed Rooney out. And have been playing good football until injuries and fatigue have kicked in a Mourinho has gone more pragmatic. Next season no excuses!

Hes complained about the volume of games you've had this season etc but next season you'll potentially be in the champions league, a tougher competitions whilst trying to win the league too. I just think from an outside view of Jose now that he always has excuses regardless and its tedious.

Tbh lets no kid ourselves every manager dies throughout the season. And it's always been tougher being in the EL to the CL. For some strange reason.

I still don't see that or anything being an excuse for such a shocking home form which is quite staggering to be honest.

Its not an excuse. To my mind i can't think of any Prem team challenging for the title and getting to the semi or final of the Europa. Yes our home form has been bad. But that's down to a lot of factors. Not worried in the slightest going into next season!

I mean, you could read the posts from last summer and see for yourself. Everyone expected serious title challenge, then it was a solid finish for the top 3, then it was top 4 is fine, we totally didn't expect anything from Jose this year, squad is not ready anyway. Under LVG people were saying it maybe needs 2-3 good transfers, now the same squad is full of useless rabble and needs a full rebuild for a truck of dollars.

The revisionism is just amazing.

This season is extremely complicated. It's easy to say let's blame mourinho but there's more to it. A manager's job is to set-up a team and find the right balance to be able to defend well and create chances in attack. We've done both well for large parts of the season yet, we find ourselves fighting for UCL.

That said, I don't believe a manager is ever at fault when the players don't take the chances they get, which has been the case for at least half of the frustrating draws this season. The players are the ones choose how they score in real time. Turn half of the draws into wins and we'd be 3 points behind chelsea. That's how frustrating it is.

Title Challenge and trophies was expected. Wont get the challenge, can still win a second trophy and get into Europe. Still a good season. And I said from the start i'd rather do it through Europe than 4th place.

It wasn't the volume, but way they stacked up badly. Before LVG we needed 2-3 signings, then LVG gutted the squad.

Should also be really obviously that players rise and fall, and members of the defence have falled away and need replacing now

Utd must be desperate to get players back if they're doing some mad crazy foot transplants to fix problems!
