The Manchester United Thread

Did you see the vid he posted his garden the other day?

He's barely fast walking nor lightly jogging. People are so gullible these days.

Despite what people think he's not a superhero, I'll be surprised if he comes back from this injury the same player. He'll probably still bag goals, but at what cost to our overall play? Teams can play a high line against us with Zlatan up top.

Ivan Perisic: Of players to score 10+ goals in Europe's top 5 leagues last season, only 1 had a worse conversion rate than Perisic (10.6%)

------

Sums up my thoughts about Perisic tbh, if it happens. Decent player, but inconsistent and we're signing him more for his work-horse attitude Jose loves than anything else.

Last thing we need is another attacker who can't convert!

Argh, I'm so mixed on Perisic, but overall not that happy if it happens. Think we could of done better.

He'll be our new Nani.

Tbh having seen most of our attackers last season I would take one that scores 10+ goals in the league! Plus he's not exactly playing in the best of teams as it is. Watching Inter Perisic and Icardi aside made my eyes bleed seriously they've slipped! Hope Perisic is done soon and onto the next :)

With his bad conversation rate though, he won't get anywhere like the chances he does in Serie A, so he needs to take the limited chances he will get here. Which I can't see him doing very well.

I don't know why anyone thinks better of Griezzmann now he appears to be staying. Atletico Madrid are in the position they are with this transfer ban because they cheated, so why is being loyal to a cheating club anything to admire?

For me Griezzmann appears to of bottled it, he has been ploying for a United move for months, now suddenly the ban is unheld and he has gone cold. You're telling me he never contemplated the ban getting upheld? Massively stupid if he didn't.

Either way, Griezzmann has only gone down in my thoughts after all this.

As we all know Di Marzio is one of the most credible in the game at the moment on transfers. He has said all along that our priorities are M'Bappe, Morata and Griezzmann, in that order.

Absolutely crazy if true... why is there such interest in M'Bappe? The cost is absurd for a one season wonder... that's all he is at the moment. It would just be a less proven Martial for me. I don't want M'Bappe for that price, maybe I'm the only one here.

Strange take on Grizz, seems bitter to say that one bad world cup would show that he is not world class player and ruins a big move. There are many world class players who have had bad international record, clubs still want them.

absolutely no bitterness towards griez whatsoever,i applaud his decision to stay.sorry if you misunderstood what i meant.no guarantees he will still be the man jose wants after russia

Another stat that says absolutely nothing. Where are most of his shots coming from? Outside the box? Does he take all the free kicks? He's not in a great team is he. Half of them shots could be from distance when there's no other option.

If it says nothing to you that's fine, but for me it says a lot.

How many games did we have this season against smaller teams in league that we couldn't get the win despite creating many chances BUT we were not converting them as our players were not clinical enough. Perisic has quality, but is bad decision-maker and as the conversion rate shows, he isn't clinical either.

Our main problem this season was converting chances... doesn't matter how you look at it. The fact that Perisic has such a bad conversion rate doesn't exactly make you feel our main weakness has been addressed with him. It was being addressed with Griezzmann though but we now know that likely isn't happening.

We will get a no.9 to address our lack of goals hopefully, so this isn't all on signing Perisic. But we need more goals from elsehwhere in the team, hopefully Perisic will give us that. But Serie A is no PL, so you can argue he won't get the same volume of chances anyway.

How does that say he's not clinical? If 90% of his shots are from outside the box, what do you expect it to be? For all you know he could have 100% conversion rate for one on ones or a very high rate from shots inside the area. Without the full stats its meaningless.

Yes our problem was scoring goals but it wasn't through lack of trying. How many keepers came to OT and got MOTM by having a game they will probably never have again in their career? It was just one of them freak seasons where nothing seemed to go in. You wouldn't expect that again this year regardless of who we add to the squad.

Griezmann coming in may or may not have addressed the situation either. He has just as much chance as anybody else of being a flop coming to the Premier League. Not saying he would have been, but you never know. Until they put the shirt on and get on the pitch, its all if's and but's.

What was Martial's conversion rate before he arrived? **** that what's been his conversion rate since? He was the second coming of Jesus last season, and I bet his rate was just as bad.

I guess you make a fair point, that statistic doesn't show the whole story. But Inter fans themselves this season and by watching them generally you see parallels between them and us this season. Some Inter fans have even put this blame on to certain players in their team, Perisic is one of three they specifically target.

Here is a brief paragraph written about Inter and Perisic earlier in the season. Honestly if this wasn't being specific you would think it was about United this season as well!

Inter fluff the most crosses per game in Serie A (26) and are in the bottom six for shot conversion despite being second in total shots. Perhaps even more surprisingly, this may have a lot more to do with Ivan Perisic than many would have assumed.

Stats aren't everything, it can be debated all day. But Perisic for me has always been a player who create that odd moment of brilliance and he does have quality. But he has shortcomings which have been mentioned before that I believe could outweigh what he will bring to this team.

According to who scored he has .2 shots a game from inside the six yard box .7 from outside the box and 2.1 shots a game from inside the box. However as he is a wide man who cuts in they could be due to terrible angles and not having any teammates forcing him into taking shots he wouldn't really want to

I'd expect him to stop shooting from every position as soon as he sees the goal.

I think after being a main player in a team that won the league and had a great run in the UCL and scoring a boatload of goals I would say much more proven than Martial

Looks a tremendous talent but clubs should see how he goes the second season before ponying up this kind of ridiculously stupid money.
