The Manchester United Thread

Maybe, he is much better now tbf, that's what regular playing time can do for you.

Indeed although nonetheless, Mourinho did fail to spot the potential and is now ready to rectify his mistake by spending another near world record fee. Fault lies with Chelsea as well of course for all the players that got away during the Mourinho era.

Why are Everton denying that a fee has been agreed though? Seems very much like United have jumped the gun here ...

Is he though unhappy? Only thing that is for certain is that he said after CL final that any player would be crazy to leave Madrid now and that he hopes to play more next season.

Also that Morata and/or James money going to Mbappé was all paper talk again. Real could easily buy him without selling anyone off the team, but the main thing I believe is selling someone to make space for him. They are more than happy to let him stay at Monaco for a year to develop some more and in a way confirm his value.

Chelsea if United do sign Lukaku will be truly the losers of this development. I think they will move for Belotti, but will need to pay the release clause of € 100 million or possibly make a move for Aubameyang.

Would much prefer if we had kept Costa but thats no longer an option and I can understand why Conte feels that way. His move to dump him by text message was complete bollocks though. Anyways, if we do sell Costa, would much prefer Morata over Lukaku any day. Everton's ****-ish stance towards us ever since the John Stones fiasco might end up working in our favour.

Personally feel Morata would absolutely thrive under Conte who has always wanted him. Also there were hints that Chelsea board pushed more for the Lukaku signing whereas Conte has always wanted Morata. Maybe true, maybe not ... Nonetheless, would be very happy with Morata.

Nothing to worry about happens a lot. Everyone saying it's all but done Paul Joyce confirmed and he's about as reliable as it gets down that neck of the woods. Plus Matt Law who is spot on with Chelsea news has confirmed and said Chelsea have lost out. Plus Oliver Norwood who has never ever been wrong with Utd transfer news.

Can't speak for the rest but Matt Law has not confirmed anything. Merely going by what other people are saying and even he acknowledges that Everton have denied that a fee has been reached and he does not know what is really going on. Nonetheless, glad if its all agreed. Forces Chelsea to go for Morata.

I really don't care which one we get, as long as we get one of them. Really don't care about the general feels of blue noses either (sorry ajt09). He looks sometimes one dimensional at Everton, because Everton were one dimensional.

Also journalists can't confirm ****. The only confirmation that exists, is when he's signed for the club.

We need to stop saying x person is never wrong. They will always get something wrong

I'm just wondering why all of a sudden United have seemingly pulled out on Morata? Probably because Madrid are messing us about but maybe he has committed to Madrid for another season? God knows.

All I do know is that Morata or Auabamayang (if his move to China hasn't progressed) is your only two options really. If they can't be pursued then you really need to hold on to Costa or else you might have to go all in for Belotti which is like a 100million euro release clause.

Lukaku is first choice for both Chelsea and United. Morata was Uniteds second. No idea who Chelsea was, except they haven't shown any interest in Morata this summer. Despite Conte being a fan.

the morata deal has dragged on and on then all of sudden we get news that lukaku deal has been 'agreed' so i stand by what i said that morata deal is virtually dead.relationship with madrid doesnt seem too clever imo

It was never dead. If it dies now ita because United have ended up with Lukaku

Perez has been played like a fiddle by Woody again? Ha!

I wouldn't say played like a fiddle. Firstly because neither deal is official. And secondly it's just United trying to make sure they have bases covered. Where United seem to have done well is using Rooney and a potential to generate good will with Everton over any deal, lowering any potential costs

i for one am happy we aint buying morata now dont get me wrong i prefer morata and i think he is the better player but i hate perez most of all with a passion and he was basically trying to rip us off with either a no deal or ridiculous price so and im glad we aint funding them to buy mbappe well done woodward on sticking it to madrid for the 2nd time :D

I am extremely torn here..I'd like Morata to stay at Madrid coz I am a Madrid fan, but I don't want Lukaku at Utd..

No, Woody didnot play Perez like a fiddle.Perez simply refused to budge from his asking price.

First things first: we absolutely need to land one of them

Secondly we shouldn't celebrate that either as our work isn't done. We need a passing DM, and ideally passing righr back. A multi positional attacking mid/forward wouldn't go amiss either

I find it hard to see Matic coming if we get Lukaku from under Chelsea's noses. Not that I'd be bothered really if we didn't get Matic as long as there is another DM incoming.

I'm fine with Lukaku over Morata. Lukaka is used to the country, used to the league, and a proven goalscorer in the league. All good signs.

Clubs don't work to spite each other that way. They would have known for ages he was a target. Bakayoko is what will hold up matic. They don't want to sell him anyway, but matic wants out
