The Manchester United Thread

Some of the arguments here are mental. We are looking to strengthen the squad, not fill makeshift holes. Of course we need to replace fellaini if he leaves. Great time for an upgrade

They'd be mad to get rid tbh. Haven't seen a teenager's game so well rounded since like Rooney

Not really potential though is it? If he plays how he played before going to Bayern, and how he plays for Portugal, he ***** all over Fellaini even now. Thats without him getting a **** of a lot better. No brainer. If it doesnt work out he goes back to Bayern. But I honestly think that Mourinho really likes him and would get the best out of him.
Yeah but there's no guarentee that's gonna happen. Young players are always gonna be inconsistent. He gonna take time to settle. 3 managers 3 different leagues in 3 seasons.

On Sanches, he only had one season in benfica's first team 24 league games is all he played for then so it's not like he has shown great form over a long period of time. One good season at benfica one poor one at Bayern makes him more of a risk that most people seem to think he is

But he's a young player with plenty of time to improve, so it's not that much of a risk. Worth pointing out that he wasn't exactly given plenty of minutes last year to shine either. He was a young man moving to a new country, a tougher league and he had to compete with some of the world's best midfielders for time on the pitch; I think the criticism he's received is harsh taking all that into account.

You forgot the euros and Portugal generally. He was very good when I watched him in the Euros. Very powerful.

I don't see why anyone is against a loan..... it's madness.

Bayern are not right on everything.... just because they couldn't get the best out of someone doesn't mean no one can.

It is a risk. He's young and inconsistent and we can't afford that in the league this year. Would only make sense if he was for sale which he ain't.

What does that achieve? And he ain't gonna come on loan to develop if he is gonna be on the bench a lot. Plus we can't afford the luxury of him finding form.

Everything is a risk... signing Pogba for £90m was a risk... signing Rooney back in the day for £30m was a risk.... sometimes risks are worth taking.

A loan is a very minimal risk, for a club like United.

Why a loan? Better just to buy a replacement.

Loan with a buy clause.

Anyway, everyone obviously has a different opinion on this.

I'd rather we just sign someone good but the way it's going.... we might be lucky if we get Sanches, let alone anyone else.

So, anyone know much about Dendoncker? I know he scored against us in the EL, but I was sorta watching out for Tielemans for them, barely noted anyone else. So I aint got a scooby snack tbh

I think I remember someone said they weren't all that impressed with him in one of the legs or over both legs, as he was an apparent target for us back then too.. was it you TOD?

Hes not for sale. That's why Milan pulled out because that option was off the table now.

He's got 12 caps for Portugal so it's still not a lot of games, I've only seen him play about 3 times so I've not really got a strong opinion on him either way

Defo improved last season. And could play either CM or DM cover. But I don't think he's ready yet for the step up, and defo not worth 34m!

Maybe Fellaini's departure means that Jose wants to switch to a 4-2-3-1. With a DM coming in, I don't think your midfield would be too thin at all tbh.

Be very happy if the reports are true about Matuidi and Aurier! Be long term replacement for Tony V. Big upgrade on Fellaini. Plus that would hopefully see TFM in CM if Aurier signed. Add to that Matic. It's a great window imo. Both players would be cheap in today's market. 15-20m for Matuidi and 20-25m for Aurier. And hold out hope for Perisic still happening or Bale ;) then get Zlatan back in Jan.

People been saying Aurier regressed, any truth to this? Was very good a couple of seasons back. Would like Matuidi's lanky strides as an option in that midfield though, would be good depth

Not regressed from what I've seen. And he's been quite on and off the field since his arresting.
