The Manchester United Thread

Guardian and few others reporting this morning that the board support Mourinho fully and that he is told the funds are still there to bring in the CB and wide forward he needs before the window closes.

Then again you have the Sun, Mirror, Express saying the opposite and the whole of Manchester is going into an apocalypse :P

Ultimately we/'ll only know by the end of the window, if we get the signings or not.

What you reckon to Deadline Day this year TOD, could be nuts?

Either way you're already behind because all the main title rivals have done their business early.

Liverpool have obviously, but what have Chelsea and City done? Jorginho and Mahrez respectively. A decent signing each and not much else to report.

I'd say our business so far has been on par with City and Chelsea but behind Liverpool and Arsenal. Even though Arsenal's signings have not really raised any excitement anyway.

Still disappointed with the window so far, but apart from Liverpool no one has really done anything.

United don't need to do huge business. The issue is getting more from the current players

Yeah can see a few clubs scrambling to get a few done. Don’t get how we are miles behind like some are suggesting!

If Pog joins 5th August then the Leicester game might be too early, but he should be available like Lukaku/Fellaini for the 2nd game the 19th August?

Tbh might be blessing in disguise Matic having that minor injury start of season, seeing Pereira play as no.6 with hopefully Fred and Pogba in the midfield could be real interesting.

If Matic had of been available straight away we probably wouldn't of seen Pereira much in the midfield. Especially in the PL.

Yeah Periera should get decent mate maybe mins this season. Not like we are short in quality or numbers in that area.

yes realy interested to see how pereira gets on if given the chance.Dissapointing at the lack of signings but still have a very good squad, although not one that will topple city imo

No Smalling, Herrera or Bailly training today on Utd in Tour. Also MUTV had a few journos on and pretty much all said it’s between Maguire, Toby. Willian, Perisic.

all four would be nice.realistically if we get two,a cb and an attacking player id be happy

Only issue I have with them targets (apart from Maguire) is that they are all very short-sighted, realistically you're going to get 2-3 seasons out of Perisic/Willian at their best max. For the price we're paying for either it would be nice to have someone for the long-term. Especially if Martial goes, because then we really have quite a few players in attacking players 30 or over. The next manager will have an awkward position again if that was the case. I don't believe Mourinho's comments that he will leave next manager in better position if that was the case. He's already signed Sanchez who is going to be 30 soon. We also have Mata etc.

Get 2 more in of those 4 and we will be good to go.

GKs- DDG, Romero, Grant.

FBs- Valencia, Dalot, Shaw, Young, TFM. Darmian if not sold!

CBs- Smalling, Jones, Bailly, Lindelöf, (Toby/Maguire) Rojo if not sold!

CMs- Pogba, Matic, Fred, Herrera, Fellaini, McTominey, Periera.

Att- Lukaku, Rashford, Sanchez, Mata, Lingard, Martial, (Willian/Perisic)

Players to call up if needed or don’t go on loan - Tuanzebe, Williams, Mitchell, Hamilton, Chong, Gomes.

I think we have a good balance age wise tbh.

I don't personally think we're in for Willian. Not so sure about Perisic, definitely last season but unless we've suddenly turned to desperation to throw all the money Inter want, which will be more after WC, I can't see that one either.

If I'm honest I can only see us getting one more signing over the line, might be wrong though.

Out of that squad, CB/fullbacks still look weak, midfield acceptable, attackers ok but missing something for me if no further signing.

A lot of questions over multiple positions really... if we get couple of signings it will look better.

Think baring City we have more strength in depth than anyone else in the league. Even before we possibly get 2 more in.
