The Manchester United Thread

Simon Stoney just tweeted that Blind didn’t go on tour as his transfer will be done in a couple of days. Not worth the trip.

No way we could've afforded 150M? 50M per year conditions? Or the loan & pay like PSG?

It's a non-topic anyway, as Mbappe had zero interest in playing under Jose apparently. Style of football was a big factor

From what I’ve read he only really wanted the move there. And we still couldn’t afford the 165.7m transfer fee rising to nearly 190m as well as other signings.

First Tour game on the 20th :)

Sounds like the women’s team 1st friendly went well today. No result as it was behind closed doors. But there all tweeting back with a boom with smiley emojis. Was against Pool.

What's the difference of how Mou plays and how Deschamps/France played this WC? Both very "defensive" orientated?

That's why I don't buy the talk that Pogba is performing better for France because he has more freedom. Deschamps system has anything but freedom and it's not like Jose hasn't experimented with Pogba in 3 or 2 man midfield.

We've seen a better Pogba this World Cup because he is more focussed, we're not getting all the sideshow with the different haircut every week and all the other stuff that is rather unnecessary.

Here's hoping he can show this dedication, focus and quality for United this season. He has all the ability in the world, but now it's time to start showing it consistently.

Yeah, funny how complaints about Pogba's hair were being waved off as old people not understanding the youth. But the one month he keeps his hair like a normal person he ends up playing best football of his life. Funny how that works.

It's almost as if it was never about how he looks but about what he is focused on and what priorities he has as a person.

Was that not one of the reasons Fergie didn't give him a run in the first team and he ended up at Juve for 800K?

In the World Cup final, Pogba for France:

• completed the most passes
• completed the most long passes
• won the most duels
•won the most tackles
• completed the most interceptions

No other player has accomplished this feat for a single team in World Cup final history.

but he was poor :P

He was in Russia. He couldn't actually go to his usual barber. Christ almighty that argument is nonsense. He's died his hair for France before

Nope. He was well driven at United and completely ready. He was told to be patient and then his agent kicked off over the contract and we lost him

Its almost like being in a 3 week tournament is very different to a 60 game season where you have been injured several times and fallen out at times with the manager

In fact I hope he continues to get ridiculous haircuts every day of the **** season, because apparently nuanced reasoning is no longer relevant these days

Clearly his hairstyle had nothing to do with it, it was probably playing with a number of world class attacking players that helped the most. I really don't get this argument I mean by the same logic did David de Gea's decision to not get a haircut and keep trying to grow a ponytail impact his game against Portugal for the Ronaldo goal, Karius I feel would have been much better in the CL final had he got a number 1 just before kickoff, Beckham was truly at his best with the corn rows and when he got rid of them it all went downhill and I feel since Messi lost the dyed blonde he hasn't been the same player. Also since he started going for the combover the referee in the world cup final has been bottling the big decisions.

Those are all ridiculous statements that everyone would laugh out of the room if they were brought up in a discussion of football and for good reason they have nothing to do with how they play it's not like players skip practice to get their hair done they can work fully to there best and then get a haircut in their down time. It has literally no impact and a huge number of players change their hairstyles frequently I have no idea why its only mentioned when Pogba does it.

Tbh he had stupid haircuts every week at Juve and was outstanding. Really don’t think that has anything to do with how he performs. He had dyed his hair City blue for the derby and was outstanding.

Tbh wouldn\t surprise me if that's our summerr business done... not spectacular but when you think about players who are in the team like pereira and TFM then there isn't really enough room for others unless they go back out on loan again.

Personally think we haven't strengthened enough to compete with City but lets wait and see. Midfield and attack looks decent enough but defence is still big questions. Looking at the defensive options you don't see any standout CB pairing where you think that will carry you through a season. Obviously you will use more than 2 CB's during a season but it's nice to know you've got a first choice pairing who can be relied on like when we had Vidic and Rio.
