The Manchester United Thread

Why do we give players like Tuanzebe a pre-season with us when they are going out on loan anyway? Surely we could of at least prepared and loaned him out at start of pre-season so he can have it with his new club.

Our transfer business really does make the mind boggle sometimes. Fred was done during the season and Dalot was easy to do. It seems we've just monumentally not put much thought into this window.

Jerome Boatang on his way to United?

This one has been one of the biggest talking points of the day, and is really gaining some momentum now.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly in for the Bayern Munich defender, a player he was first linked with last summer.
United are looking to strengthen their defence in this transfer window, and with negotiations for Leicester's Harry Maguire and Spurs player Toby Tony Alderweireld stalling, the Reds have turned their attentions to Boateng.

Thats from there transfer round up page. And it doesn’t say there he’s the number 1 choice.

Probably cause Mou needed players for this pre-season tour.

Maybe we didn’t know he was going out on loan. Maybe he’s only going out on loan as a signing is imminent. Maybe negotiations regards fees have dragged on or he and the club couldn’t decide which club to choose.

It doesn’t have to be the club being so called useless all the time.

Players often have pre season with their parents club before going on loan.

If this summers deadline day isn't one of the business in recent memory as a whole I'll be shocked. All clubs look like they are scattering around for players. Problem is that European clubs have a big advantage over PL clubs knowing that their deadline for buying doesn't end until August 31st or something like that.

The Premier League Clubs have definitely shot themselves in the foot with that stupid decision, dread to think which club first proposed it but safe to say it wasn't the red half of Manchester.

Yeh it is stupid, it should be made same date for all European clubs. This hasn't solved anything really because in effect it gives every other club in Europe outside of PL a shot at signing your players until August 31st.

no but it does say the attention is on boateng as toby and maguire deals are stalling.tbh mate i dont believe what any journalist says until the deal is done.pure speculation and this window is driving many crazy.cant wait til the window shuts, what a circus

Both Manchester clubs voted against it. Not sure about the rest.

Manchester United refusing to sell Paul Pogba amid Barcelona and Juventus interest: https://ind.pn/2vIo3tn @MiguelDelaney reports

So them so called rumours of Pogba wanting out and Raiola offering him around are probably true. I expect us to keep him but honestly, why has it come to this already with Pogba? We know his relationship with Mourinho isn't right but surely Pogba isn't throwing in the towel already.

As much as we criticised Fergie for letting him go the first time, there is almost an inevitably about it, even if it doesn't happen this summer.

Locking the window early is a good decision, you just ****** it up by not doing your deals quick enough. I don't see Guardiola and Klopp complaining.

Just seen Pogba back in full training today. Joking around with Bailly and the lads :)

Mike you should Ban Zz for quoting Delaney after all the **** you give me :P

It's not Pogba wanting out. But Raiola being a **** and Barcelona needing to strengthen. You need to chill out. You'll have a fit before we even kick off. Pogba will outlast Jose.

pep was against it tbf.

express now say 60 million deal for alderweireld is a matter of 'when and not if'.please ed just pay the money and we can all move on

As we see here, a lot of the first team/spine is entering or in their peak years going into this season. Add Toby on top of that, we've got a side ready in the NOW to strongly challenge for the league, imo. Smalling as our most used & experienced CB is shocking, Toby a must needed signing. Can also see that Shaw & Dalot really need to take the guard sooner rather than later.

i personally think its a good idea to close the window before the season starts but what with it being a world cup year maybe it would have been better next season, especially when you consider how incompetent many big clubs are at getting their transfer business done properly

It's only a good decision if other leagues had agreed to do the same thing. It doesn't matter if certain clubs have not got deals done quickly when there is a chance for the other Big European Clubs can still pinch the best players for two weeks after the Premiership window closes. A better decision would have been to limit domestic transfers to pre-season and still allow international transfers to take place. I'm sure if that would have been the case none of this cluster **** would have happened.

Agreed, locking out domestic transfers would have been a better option.

From the BBC-

It is looking increasingly likely Anthony Martial will remain @ManUtd beyond Thursday. Club not actively looking to sell at this stage. To late in the window, and no reasonable offers.

Also so say that Toby is defo first choice. With Maguire and Boateng as fall back options.

How is it too late in the window? Players can still be sold until the end of August, it is only incoming transfers that are limited to the 9th, and then only in the EPL - European clubs can still buy and sell through the month and players from England can be sold - they just can't join an English club.

Its to late because Utd won’t have time to replace him.
