I made the arm ends :o.

Plus retro/simple > OMG Let's add all the templates together and colour them.

---------- Post added at 04:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:12 AM ----------

Never said you weren't but to me the Arsenal home kit is plain. It is the same style with sleeves and a less flash sleeve end. Now I am not being stuck up but surely that means you don't like the Arsenal home kit?

For me simplistic isn't exactly a criticism in kit making as simple often is better and when doing a kit with lots of history such as France sometimes flash patterns aren't always the best way forward (plus France has had too many flash kits recently so I though I would mix it up). Obviously still that is your opinion but to me it isn't really a valid one as I have mentioned above (don't forget there will be a number in the middle of a shirt). Not to mention England's World Cup kits and retro being the rage lately.

Edit: He deleted his post.

Fair enough!

I just felt that it was too plain for me personally, not suggesting you should stick all the templates together and make something ultra flash/confusing, but maybe e.g. a different colour down the side? Even just a different shade of blue..

I do like the Arsenal kit, but it is boring!

I do like the sleeves more every time I see it though ;)

[I deleted my post because I didn't want to start any arguments, but since we're being civil, I replied!]

I do take criticisms from kits but obviously retro is "in" at the moment and not everyone will like it but I love it so I make retro kits and it respects historic clubs too. If you look deep enough you will see arm outlines but that is stiching so subtle - yes I do go that deep, however for me a flash across the arm or the side would ruin the kit completely hence why I stuck to plain sleeves on the home bar the ends and a light mesh striping on the away.

I can see where you're coming from but it is all down to slap a sponsor across the middle and it is less plain, the same goes for a number.

Not posted kits here for ages.

6.5/10 for me.
Like what Joss said, its a bit boring and tbh, and I don't make kits often and it looks like i could have done that. Just seem like a plain template coloured blue.. Might be wrong, but thats how it looks to me/

Feel free to make the sleeve ends using the pen tool, would save me 10 minutes in the future.
I concur with boring, any person with half a brain can create a kit and not think but it requires time and skill to take a kit and bung history, pride and modernity into a simple kit that not only will every fan love but also those who don't support the team. Now as I said with the sponsor it would make it less as you say "boring" but look at England's WC kit. Did you hate that?

Does no one on this site like retro any more :(?

@ Dec: Home one is very good although it does have something missing from it, 8/10. Away one is perfect, quality kit, faultless, 10/10.

Thanks mate, the home one is missing a number but the away one's stripes compensate for that a bit as the chest area looks a lot less vacant. Well I think so anyway.

@ l3east- Try holding shift while you resize your badges so as they stay even. Also make your sponsers a little smaller and move them up to around the bottom of the sleave

I can create my own textures and numbers thanks. I chose not to add it though to keep it looking crisp.

To be honest I don't like your home kit as I feel the arms ruin the pattern but apart from that it looks quite good for a recolour (bar the big logo of course). On the away did you think of removing the red and colour overlaying the badge white? It would make it flow a lot better in my opinion.

Thanks for your honest opinion, much appreciated.

I hadn't thought of doing that with the badge tbh, will bear it in mind.

EDIT: Sounds like i'm being a sarcastic ****, i'm genuinely grateful as it will help me improve!

No, i liked Englands world cup kits, and i like yours. Never said i hated them, there just not very exciting, and in my opinion i prefer exciting kits. To be fair tho, i agree with everything you said, and if you were a professional kit maker that would be perfect, but you would prob be better off if you didn't spend 10 mins on something a lot of people won't notice, especially if, as you said, it takes alot of time and skill. Seems like a waste of your time.

Personally i beleive these are the bet kits ive ever made. just wondered what people thought of them

btw Dec... those kits are perfect.. although i hate the french logo (buts because it allways looks squashed and it iratates me, not your fault ofcourse)

Joss, no problem. It is something I have done time after time with away kits now to keep kits perfectly smooth and not blocky. Just trying to help :).

Micky - You and I are very much diffrent as I prefer simple kits and retro ones staying close to the clubs' fanbase and colours (which to me is what kit making is about) and my adventure is very little on home kits due to this. However, you pick a good template and recolour it for your team and not really think about it apart from the home and away colours and what colour is what. I suppose it is as I started 3 years ago and you're new so for me kit making is more in depth and practiced.
The fact is though little things makes big differences on kits and I have spent over 30 minutes on a tag before as that is what makes good kits great and when doing a kit so minimal then you need to do something small that will take it from a blue shirt to a fantastic kit and I felt my sleeve ends did that as it also embraced the French culture. Plus kits don't need to be exciting and if they did it would divide fans. I am sure Manchester United fans would prefer a white away kit with a red V neck and black logos than the kit they have now.

Jos - Love them kits bar the sponsor position, they look like centenary kits with everything faded. Thanks for the kind comment too :).

Erm, explain how you've bung history, pride and modernity into a simple kit? you've coloured the base layer, then added the france flag to each sleeve?

and as for the England kits, yes actually, there was a lot of uproar from people that they were paying a lot of money for something so simple...

Suppose i can't really argue with any of that. As you said, your the expert and you know what your doing.. Maybe in 3 years time, the ends of my sleeves will be as good as yours :P But seriously, i have seen your other kits, and know how good you are, and how much skill it takes, i just didn't like these particular kits as much. Just so you know mate, i wasn't trying to cause aggro or nothing, just giving you my opinion.

History - A royal French blue dated back that Adidas never used.
Pride - The flag.
Modernity - The way the flag has been presented.
The England kit was very basic however this isn't so and obviously the England shirt was £40 and hence the rage. However a lot of people liked the kit and no one truly hated it like a Nike goalkeeper kit this year.

Micky, I know mate. Not exactly my best but felt boring was the wrong word (empty may have been better). I appreciate your comment though.

Next person to comment on this will be infracted. This thread is within touching distance of being closed, as arguements break out every day.

- If you don't like a kit, be constructive rather than cruel.
- If you cannot handle someone's opinion of your kit, don't post it here.

@Jose22 what is the sponsor used on those Rubin kits?
