Have a look at these 3 tutorials Stu, they are all pretty easy, and when i was starting out i did them.

The last one the Robinho was is pretty easy and looks good i think.

another, I personally dont like it as its too dark, but the effects seem to combine nicely, to give a 'spotlight' on Ronaldo effect. I am starting to get more adventourous now aswell.8-|
