Karpin Sacked

The news broke early this morning. The table topping Spartak have been rocked by Leonid Fudin's choice. News filtering out from the clubs training ground has claimed it was after a serious argument about Karpin's apparent affair with a member of Fudin's family but this is only speculation. A replacement has already been announced it is Youth Coach Gareth Davies, a Russian international footballer who's promising career was cut short only 2 years ago due a devastating broken leg in a domestic game in Spain. The Muscovite has already outlined his goals for the club which included continuing Valery Karpin's great work with the Red-whites. But this appointment could spell danger for Sergio Rodriguez, Marcus Rojo and Emmanual Emenkie who have already voiced there disgust at the appointment and should face the wrath of this young but forceful manager. Hopefully the Red-whites will push on with the help of Wellition, Marek Suchy, Aiden McGeady and Up and coming Russian Sergey Parshivlyuk.

Dinamo Moscow First up

The new boss of Spartak will be up against it for his opening game. The table topping Red-whites will be hosting 7th placed Dinamo. Sources suggest Alexandr Zotov will enter the line up and Welliton will lead the line from up front. Metallurg Lipetsk have also been drawn in the 6th round of the Russian cup. A tricky away journey for the Muscovites. But back to Saturdays game at the Luzhniki. The kick off time is 19:45 due to Television rights. Surprisingly Davies has already announced his plans to play free flowing football much to the delight of the Spartak fans. But will the harsh reality of football be to much for this rookie or will his short time in the top level be enough? or will he have to rely on grit determination seen in his U-18 Spartak team. But all we can do is wish him the best of luck!

Spartak take apart Dinamo

An immediate impact for the new boss. Goals from Ari and Bilyaletdinov sunk the city rivals. The 1st came from a beautiful counter attacking move, sprung from a Dinamo corner and passed into the bottom corner by Ari after a sweet pass from Welliton. The second was a sweetly hit shot from the edge of the box which Shunin was glued to the spot to send the Spartak fans insane with the Stewards having to hold them back.
The Red-whites march on!

Spartak win 2-0 in Routine cup game

The travelling Spartak fans knew the result was in the bag before they set off but that didn't halt them travelling in their hundreds to watch the Red-whites. A man of the match performance by Brazilian Ari made the victory sweet for an unsung hero. A neat shot into the top corner opened the scoring after 17 minutes. It wasn't until 37 minutes for the travelling favourites to double the tally, an in-swinging corner by Ari met the head of Czech defender Marek Suchy running to the front post. The travelling Spartak fans were in good spirits as they headed back to Moscow with a huge game next Sunday away to Russian Premier League holders Zenit St. Petersburg. The game will be shown live on television from the Petrovsky Stadium with high numbers of Police expected to be in and around the stadium due to the known Violence between the Spartak and Zenit fans.

Zenit fall 1-0 despite dominant display

Zenit fans will awake today still wondering how they did not at least manage a draw versus Spartak Moscow. The visiting red-whites were under siege for the majority of the game at Petrovsky. Former Manager Valery Karpin who was a pundit at last nights game had this to say "The team seem rejuvenated. Under me they became Lack-lustre but under Davies they have seemed to become like teenagers again. Loving every second of the beautiful game" Last nights game showed the grit and determination tied in with the attacking style. "Marvellous. Is one word I can say. Not just the team but the support from the Spartak fans helped the players hold onto the slender lead we acquired thanks to Demy. I salute the boys and the fans" Manager Davies spoke to us after the game. The only goal came after 22 minutes. A scrappy goal bundled home by Demy de Zeeuw after a Dimitry Kombarov cross.

7th round draw throws up Krylya Sovetov

Spartak Fans will have to try and avoid looking at a Quarter Final prospect versus their most hated rivals. CSKA. The red-whites must overturn Krylya Sovetov of Samara to atleast stand a chance of that, but surely that is routine for this hugely talented Spartak team. With the long winded Semi draw it seems CSKA and Spartak have taken the simplest bracket excusing the mouth watering possibility of another Moscow derby. The other top flight teams inside their bracket is Volga Nizhny Novograd and FC Rostov both teams who seem destined for the Relegation group this year. But back to the Russian Premier it seems Shakhtar midfielder Alex Teixeira will be joining the Title charge at the start of August. The Midfielder will be a special guest of Leonid Fudin's at the up and coming Lokomotiv Moscow game. That game will also see the return of Pavlychenko against Spartak, the team who he made his name in Russian football with.

Welliton double sinks Lokomotiv.

When the Lokomotiv fans turned up to see this highly anticipated derby they didn't expect to leave thankful for it only being 2. Straight away Lokomotiv were pushed onto the back foot by Spartak, lead by Ukrainian shot stopper Andriy Dykan due to injury to Captain Sergey Parshivlyuk. The blood of everyone was boiling almost straight away due to an injury in the early minutes. It wasn't until added time in the first half for the scoring to begin. A neat one-two between Kombarov and Ari followed by a skimmed cross for Welliton to ****** his first infront of the travelling Spartak fans. The Lokomotiv fans were hoping for a improved display. The players gave this until the 60th minute when Spartak wrestled control back. A neat passing move started by Marek Suchy was finished off in style by Welliton collecting his second. With time dwindling there was still time for controversy when Lokomotiv's players and fans were angered that they were not given an apparent penalty.

Spartak hit four past Krasnodor

The red-whites continued there unbeaten run with an easy win over Krasnodor at Luzhniki. The scoring was opened after a neat penalty by Dinyar Bilyaletdinov after 41 minutes, it was only 5 minutes later when Spartak doubled their lead. A neat and tidy finish from Brazilian Weliton after skipping past two defenders. After 53 minutes disaster struck by Welliton having to go off injured. Kiril Kombarov added the 3rd with a tap in after 79 minutes. The scoring was finished up by Artem Dzyuba, Welliton's replacement, on 83 minutes with a typical strikers Goal

Welliton out for 4 - 5 Weeks

A huge injury worry for the Red-whites. This will be a test for Davies. Welliton went off after 53 minutes in Spartaks game on the weekend. He was involved in a crunching tackle in which he suffered a damaged Knee Cap. The possible replacements are Ari and Dzyuba with Emenike being frozen out due to news reports claiming he was seen at a Moscow Night club at 2 am the night before the game.

Spartak to name Stand after Egor Sviridov

Spartak's board announced this after extensive talks with all of the supporters groups. The club gave the privilige to manager Gareth Davies to announce this move.
"Its an honour. I remember seeing this first hand. I was involved in the fighting and I am not proud in saying that in this statement but its a subject very close to my heart" Egor was killed during a fight with another group of youths at 00:30am on the 6th December 2010. The club has taken 2 years to reach this decision, in which it described "The right time for this" The following of the incident back in 2010 was mass riots through out cities in Russia but Spartak are hoping this sends a huge message in support of anti-violence. The ceremony will take place before the game with Volga NN.

2 goals enough. Emotions High!

The emotions were high all game. From the moment Egor Sviridov's family took to the pitch to the final whistle. After the emotional ceremony was over it was over to the red-whites to show a momentous exhibition. Spartak didn't take long to open the bank account. Artem Dzyuba hit after 3 minutes, Marek Suchy with a beautiful long pass to the newly capped Russian. With time ticking down on the first half a swinging free kick from the right wing was met at the back post by a perfect Czech header. Marek Suchy's goal and assist was enough for his Managers praise and the Man of the Match. With a trip to Cyprus next for the boys. A European date with Anorthsis Famagusta. The Spartak fans will have to behave as UEFA have promised to punish them for any unruly behaviour.

Spartak fans behave as Red-whites win 2-1

The Spartak fans kept cool even though the red-whites silenced the Famagusta fans.

Dzyuba opened the scoring after 23 minutes with a bullet header into the top corner from a corner. The red-whites held this till the second half. Within a minute of the restart it was all square, miscommunication between defenders allowed Laban to stroke the ball home. But Kiril Kombarov made the Spartak fans return to Moscow happy and with the Aggregate lead after a nice lofted ball from his brother Dimitry allowed him to fire low and hard past the goal keeper

Very, very good story mate. I'm actually really enjoying this, keep it up!

Sheshukov suspended

The news broke after Spartaks early morning training session broke the weekend game versus Anzhi. It is apparent that the Russian turning up late been the last straw for the manager. His attitude had declined ever since he was transfer listed and dropped to the reserves. "He is just negative. He brings us down and distracts the boss" said Pareja, leaving the training complex in his Range Rover. This seems to be the end of the Russians Spartak career unless a massive change of heart occurs from the manager but that is highly unlikey

Scrappy victory enough. 1-0.

Spartak travelled to Dagestan to challenge Anzhi, fielding players like Eto'o, Samba and Zhirkov. A mistake in the defence of Anzhi allowed young Georgian Jano to nip in and fire in after 27 minutes. The day got worse when Anzhi missed from the spot. Another European adventure will occur in Moscow on thursday as Spartak hope to advance in the Euro cup in the second leg of the tie between Famagusta.

Spartak advance. 3-0 victory

Spartak hit almost immediately. Jano has become the quickest scorer in the competition history after a deflected shot after a minute. A long ball was played for Artem Dzyuba was prodded home to extend Spartaks lead. The final goal came on 69 minutes a fierce curling shot by Bilyaletdinov. Also Aidy McGeady made his return from injury replacing Dimitry Kombarov.

Spartak march on. 2-1

Despite falling behind to an early goal to Amkar Spartak came from behind to win. The goals came from Evengy Makeev and Kiril Kombarov. Amkars fans will leave disgruntled after having a goal chalked off in which most pundits thought was the wrong choice.

Preview: Spartak vs CSKA

The old rivalry will be re-ignited when the weekend arrives. Moscow will come to a halt as families, relationships and entire groups of friends will be torn apart by the bitterest rivalry in Russia. Spartak ran out winners last time around after a 3 - 1 victory. Spartak have home advantage and more than likely the support up to the rafters.

With Spartak the form team with 9 wins in 9, CSKA Will have to be at there best. CSKA Are currently in 7th place much lower than predicted at the start of the season. Last time out CSKA could only manage a draw. Spartak Moscow have been placed at Evens while CSKA 11-5 the same odds for a draw.

The game will be officiated by Igor Yegorov from Niznhiy Novograd.
In the games he has officiated he has handed out 50 yellow cards but no red cards.

Spartak and CSKA have also released a joint-statement hoping for a pleasant affair. The last time out Riot Police had to intervene at a Metro station where fighting broke out on the escalators. Numerous fans have been imprisoned over that incident joining the ever growing list of arrests made at any Spartak-CSKA Derby. Hopefully for both clubs sakes that there record is not tainted even more by stupid behaviour from both sets of supporters and keep the tense atmosphere upon the field of play.
