Great article mate. I've always followed Freddy Adu to see what he's been up to and I have to say it's a shame to see what's happened to him now.

I very much doubt he is older than he says he is.

I am just sick of hearing ppl saying lukaku is 25/26/27/28... In Belgium one of the countrys that has most influence in European politics and those craps... how can you even doubt? face it , hes a good player and has alot of potential. not like Adu, we always knew he was gonna flop when he came to Benfica... Donovan for ex is a GOD in MLS and had a decent world cup, but what has he done in europe? NOTHING.

I never said he was 25/26/27/28, and I appreciate Belgium is a political powerhouse, it won't stop me having my doubts about certain players ages though. I would bet anyone a decent amount of money Lukaku is not playing well for a top club at the age of say, 32?

Landon Donovan was good in an Everton shirt, a good side who play in arguably the best league in the world. I reckon he could hack it in any league in Europe...

The height statements are dreadful, yes Adu hasnt grown since he was 12 but neither has Lionel Messi.

what was the result of those bone marrow tests?

Nigeria and the other african players played f*** about it, and insisted ALL teams go through the procedure, I think quite a few african players failed it. The test can determine your Exact age within a few months. Though I think what really happened was that Nigeria were a lot more careful on whom they selected for their junior age group sides.

Untrue, Messi has grown since he was 12, not significantly but he has grown.

I think age conspiracies are pretty much rubbish, especially for Adu. If he was 2-3 years older then the players he was playing with, why did no one bring it up then? I've been a referee for enough years to know that coaches will go out of there way to determine if a player is too old and get him off the opposing team. And Africans, stuff is messed up over there so some might not actually know when they are born.

It was definitely the pressure placed on Adu. A 14 year old should not be a professional at anything, he should be kicking around with his friends on the play ground not people twice his age. It was at a time before the MLS has a development system running, which they do now. If he had come through an academy he would be in much better shape. But being rushed into the spot light took the chance of going to an academy to learn away from him.

Trying hard not to go off topic here but Lionel Messi has a growth hormone deficiency, so he naturally doesn't grow.

Maybe Adu naturally doesnt grow, maybe its more sinister but nothing's proven so claiming he's lying is harsh to say the least.

The only played i doubt about his age is Muntari. Not saying hes bad, cause hes not but still...

He got the treatment when he signed for barcelona.

Simple answer, they did. Since he was very young, I am talking 12, 13 there have been doubts about his age.

Barcelona, since he signed for them have countered the deficiency. River refused to pay for the treatment but Barcelona happily did.

At the age of 11, he was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency. Primera División club River Plate showed interest in Messi's progress, but did not have enough money to pay for treatment for his condition as it cost $900 a month. Carles Rexach, the sporting director of FC Barcelona, had been made aware of his talent as Messi had relatives in Lleida, Catalonia, and Messi and his father were able to arrange a trial. Barcelona signed him after watching him play, offering to pay for the medical bills if he was willing to move to Spain.

He has grown several inches since he was 11.

Ok then... Asamoah Gyan.... 24? He looks 35+.

If you're judging people because of their faces you fail. Its all about the ability, Adu was good in MLS, flop in Europe, nothing else.

I am not judging people by their faces, you are talking complete rubbish. Lukaku looks very young looking at his face, although he looks, physically like a 25+ year old. I am not accusing anyone of fraud or whatever else here, but I have my doubts about certain players, mainly players of African descent.
