The Swans Fly High Part II

still going great and two good wins against Liverpool and Everton!!!

Big game coming up now, we all know what happened last time a club from Manchester came to Swansea but United are obviously a really tough opponent. This was a really close game but in the last half hour it seemed like we wanted it more, we pushed forward, create chances and right at the end we incredibly found the breakthrough. Neil Taylor arriving late in the box to score the winner! Kyle Copp came on for Gomis in the second half to make his debut and looked good. Bony's been tutoring him and he's progressing well in the reserves and in training this season, our youth system is really poor but this lad looks ok.

No changes for this one, I reminded the players to take revenge on the Sunderland team after that frustrating defeat back in September. They did exactly that and we run out deserving winners in a great team performance, Dyer was the best player on the pitch. The draw was kind for the Fifth Round, despite playing away, I'll fancy my chances against either Burnley or Fleetwood.

Montero comes in for Routledge, I was expecting a tough match, Newcastle are no pushovers. The team were looking good in the first half but I'm not quite sure what happened in the second, our defence seemed to fall apart and that result isn't good enough, when you consider our recent form. I'm not to disappointed though, we had to lose eventually. I've got to share this goal from Remy Cabella, when your opponent scores a goal like that, you have to applaud them, I mean that's just outrageous, he didn't even think about it, few have scored from their own half before! Unfortunately Gomis picked up an injury keeping him out for the next game against Arsenal.

There was more going on in this transfer window but it was all left until the final day, there was a number of players complaining about first team football over the last few months, I tried to sell Emnes but could only send him on loan. I wouldn't let Amat leave, he started complaining to his team mates, so I dropped him to the U21s and Yeung left the club, his replacement? Dele Alli, he's still young at just 18 but he's got a bright future ahead of him, elsewhere we managed to shift some of the deadwood from the U21 squad.

The window was unsurprisingly full of speculation surrounding Wilfried Bony, I was determined to keep him at the club. There was offers from Wolfsburg and Tottenham for £20M. I rejected them and convinced him to stay but with Interest from European giants Real Madrid, he wanted a new deal and I couldn't really say no. When Real came knocking I thought I would have to sell but luckily they didn't put in a bid. Trouble is his agent wanted a clause in his contract that matches the highest earner at the club, he wouldn't negotiate on it. 55k per week isn't a huge amount in today's football so if I bring in anyone in and pay them over that amount, Bony gets a wage rise.

View attachment 320677
I didn't feel Copp was ready, particularly in such a big match, so Montero plays up front in the absence of both Gomis and Bony, Alli is on the bench after making his move to the club. Even though we lost I don't have a lot to say about that match, it's clear why we lost, we didn't have a clinical striker and they had one **** of a striker in Alexis Sanchez. It's frustrating but Arsenal deserved the points and they were the favourites, after all.

This round of fixtures start off really well, beating a tough United side and advancing to the fifth round of the FA Cup, by beating Sunderland but our brilliant form of late had to come to an end sooner or later and it did with frustrating loses to Newcastle and Arsenal. Next time I see some very winnable fixtures, we can progress into the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup by beating Burnley but our squad depth is going to be hugely tested with four games in just twelve days.

Can't say I'm to disappointed to lose when a player scores a goal like that! Ye, he's been popping up all over FM fan sites this year, so I thought I'd give him a try.

Bony is back from the African Cup of Nations having won the competition with Ivory Coast, he also finished joint top scorer with four goals, unfortunately though, he'll need a rest and only makes the bench. Tottenham are having a fantastic season up in second place but I didn't let that bother me, we deserved the three points here but we just couldn't find the net.

Bony lad is back, with no goals in our last two and no wins in our last three, it couldn't have come at a better time. We certainly made it difficult for ourselves, we could of won much more comfortably but after our recent dip in form, I'll take any victory. Unfortunately Bony didn't pick up where he left off but Montero struck a beauty, taking on his man and smashing the ball into the top corner from 25 yards, brilliant strike! It's going to be a very tricky match in the Quarter Finals, against either Arsenal or Chelsea.

Gylfi hasn't been great this season, I've even had a couple of chats about his form in recent months so I'm bringing in young Alli for this one, hopefully he's ready. The Sig must of heard me slagging him off, he came off the bench to score the winner right at the death, a sweetly struck free-kick. We deserved that win and it's good to see us getting back to winning ways.

You've probably noticed that we've had a really congested fixture list and I've not been rotating much. Every day other than a match day has been a rest day, the tired legs had to catch up with us eventually so approaching this match, there's plenty of changes. I was anticipating a tough match and we were very lucky to win that game, Alli came off the bench to announce himself to the Swansea fans, by scoring the winner! My 4231 tactic seems to leave us wide open at times, we give up to much possession and give away to many chances, leading to conceding goals. Don't get me wrong when we're confident and in form it works brilliantly, our fantastic run through late November until late January, is a great example.

Despite a slight dip in form we're still going strong in the league table, if we keep this up a top four place and Champions League football is definitely on the cards, who would've thought it, I've surprised myself. We're getting a weeks rest most weeks to prepare for the next game and that's been vital this season, there's probably only about sixteen players I trust to play in the team.

View attachment 320528
We haven't made it easy for ourselves in these games but we've got three massive wins to keep our league campaign going strong and progress in the FA Cup and we were unlucky not to get to beating of Spurs. Next time we've got some huge games, Chelsea come to the Liberty to battle for a Champions League place and then there's the FA Cup Quarter Final against either Chelsea or Arsenal.

Still a great month there mate! Keep this going and CL football will be at Swansea next season!

I let Gomis continue up front for this one, with Chelsea one point behind us having played a game more, this was a massive game. We looked fantastic in the first half, Chelsea of course were in the game but we were clinical and went into the tunnel with a deserved lead. I warned the team not to become complacent but they did exactly that, we got absolutely slaughtered in the second half and I don't know how Chelsea only scored the one. Very fortunately then, we pick up the victory but I guess it pays to be clinical in front of goal.

I knew this would be a difficult match, Southampton are a good side. Not for the first time this season, the lads really surprised me, they dominated the Saints in their own back yard, Montero was again on form and Bony managed to get himself back on the score sheet, which is great news.

A quick note on our youth intake, I had a good look through and there was nothing, I mean literally nothing, I was so disappointed I went to the board to ask them to improve the youth recruitment but the only option they gave me was to cut back on it. On to the football anyway and in lots of ways this game was similar to the one played last week against Chelsea. Except this time it was us who dominated them but just couldn't find the goals, this time they were clinical and unfortunately we go crashing out of the FA Cup. We'll have to find European football through our league campaign now.

We should really be winning this match and we definitely deserved the three points but for the second game running we just didn't get the rub of the green. They literally had two chances from two set pieces and scored from both, we've conceded a **** of a lot of goals from set pieces and crosses this season. If you asked me I wouldn't say we have the tallest team so maybe that's something we need to look at, in the transfer market.

Our form has tailed off a little bit over the last two months, I expected the likes of City and Chelsea to push on towards the end of the season and really push for the top four but they haven't. We've still been in decent form and we need to keep it up as the table is still wide open, plenty of teams in with a shout for those European places.

View attachment 320010
A mix of good and bad results here, a brilliant win against Chelsea followed by a solid victory against Southampton but we went on to lose against Chelsea, who got their revenge and only managed a draw against Villa. Next time we're approaching the end of our first season and we've got some nice fixtures, we should pick up plenty of points.

It'd take a huge collapse not to finish in those European places this year, we just need to keep going, hopefully it will be Champions League.

amzing job here...west brom may be tricky but i do think you will win all 4 and secure 2nd place

Bony's not been anything like his best since he came back from Africa, I had a word about his form and he agreed that he hasn't been good enough, I'll keep him in for this one but if he doesn't start performing, Gomis will come in. Against the run of play West Brom scored and went in at half time 1-0 up, we squandered more chances and it looked like yet again, it wasn't going to be our day. The reaction I get from my team talk in the second half was absolutely brilliant though, they went out and slaughtered them, super sub Alli levelling and Bony completing the comeback, with a big goal for him.

Sigurosson picked up an injury in training, keeping him out for 3-4 weeks so Alli comes in. Hull were unlucky here and probably should of got something from the game, we should be controlling these sort of matches better, the stats don't back up the result. We'll take any win at this stage of the season though.

This is the sort of match we should be winning but we just couldn't find that opening goal, it's frustrating but I suppose we can afford to drop the odd point after two solid wins previously, we're still looking good for top four.

Sigurosson and Britton come back in for this one, What a game it was at the Liberty. Unfortunately our defence was an absolute shambles, we scored enough goals to win the game but some of our defensive mistakes were just incredible. The midfield could of controlled the game a bit better as well, we really should win that game.

Despite those two frustrating draws we're still going strong in the league table and it looks like most things are decided. Burnley and Leicester look dead and buried at the bottom of the table, United have almost wrapped up the title and those top four places look sorted, just maybe not in that order.

View attachment 319665
Even though we should of picked up twelve points instead of eight, you have to say it's been a good run of games because we're just three points away from securing a place in the top four and Champions League football next season! So in our next three we've get plenty of opportunities to confrim CL football. If we somehow didn't pick up three points in those three games and City caught up, the last game of the season would virtually be a Champions League playoff game. I don't fancy that at the Etihad, I'm confident it won't come to that though.

A couple of draws at end but im sure out of West Ham, Stoke and Leicester you will get that win you need! good luck!

I dropped Britton and Fernandez after their poor form of late and bad performances against Crystal Palace. That's more like the Swansea we've seen this season, We dominated the Hammers, Bony and Montero were the difference, with two goals from Bony and three assists from Montero. We've done it at the first attempt, we'll be in the Champions League next season!! There's still places to fight for though, finishing in the top three will guarantee a place in the Group Stages.

Dyer is suffering from an illness and he'll miss the next two games. I can't believe we didn't win that game, we battered Stoke. Very similar to the Burnley game in that we had plenty of chances but our finishing let us down, I guess that happens sometimes.

With Chelsea just one point behind and a difficult away trip to Manchester awaiting us in our final game, it was important to pick up a win here. Leicester are already relegated so really we should walk this, we certainly had the better of the play but we never managed to kill the game off, the only goal coming from a 25 yard Shelvey screamer. Chelsea drew against Southampton, which means we now have a three point lead going in to the City Game.

An away game against City is no easy game but as we're almost certain to finish third, I thought I'd go all out and try and win this one. Well that is what you call a stalemate, neither team could find the breakthrough, it really was such an even match. When they got a man sent off I hoped we could push on for a winner but it wasn't to be, we were underdogs so that's not a bad result.

A productive end to what has been a brilliant season for the Swans, we could of picked up wins against City and Stoke but I can't complain with a third place finish. Next time there's plenty to get through at the end of our first season in Wales, we'll take a look at the final league table standings, player stats and awards. I've got a few awards for the players myself, we'll also see who's won what this year and take a look at how we performed as a team this season and how individual players have performed over the season.

What a season! Congrates on finishing 3rd! The finances should receive a huge boost, hopefully your given a tb that will enable you to challenge for top 4 again next season
As your guaranteed group stage your board should share the cash, how much do you get for finishing 3rd in pl?
Any chance we could get a look at end of season finances aswell?

Thanks! It's been a fantastic season, hopefully we can continue in the right direction, the board gave me £25M to spend on players and 150k to spend on player's wages. I managed to convince them to increase the wage budget to just over 200k. I couldn't quite put my finger on why we didn't have more to spend. We do have a small loan to pay off, hopefully the board will pay that off sooner rather than later and the club isn't exactly worldwide known like Real or United. We don't sell a lot of shirts and we haven't received the CL money yet, that's my explanation. More will be revealed in the next update.

We'll start off with the Premier League and what a season for Swansea, we massively exceeded expectations, the media predicted we would finish 10th and we've proved them all wrong finishing an incredible 3rd, a record high for the club and securing CL next season. United finished Champions with just 82 points and Swansea weren't the only shocks this season, with City finishing in 5th and Arsenal and Liverpool also dropping out of the top four, sitting in embarrassing mid table positions. At the other end of the table, no surprises as Leicester, Burnley and Sunderland got relegated.

I was hoping Bony would win one of these big awards this year but Falcao won the FWA Footballer of the Year and Hazard won PFA Player of the Year, Wilfried did finish as the top goalscorer this season though. Meanwhile Eriksen won the PFA Young Player of the Year and Fabianski won the Golden Glove award. Lastly Van Gaal won the Manager of the Season award, I felt I should of won this but I had to settle for second place.

In the Team of the Season there was three Swansea players who made it, Dyer, Bony and Fabianski. All three are big names, in the player stats this season as well, Fabianski had the most clean sheets, Dyer was very under rated, with 14 assists and 10 goals and Bony and Shelvey enjoyed top seasons, storming the average rating charts all season. Elsewhere it looks like finishing outside of the top four cost Manuel Pellegrini his job, Unal Emery replaces him for the upcoming season.

In the cup competitions this year, we weren't great getting knocking out of the COC in the 3rd round to Brighton and losing out in the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup, to Chelsea. QPR surprsingly won the COC this year but I can't find the screenshot, elsewhere Chelsea won the FA Cup, Barcelona won the Champions League and incredibly the final of the Europa Leaue was contested between Celtic and Dynamo Kyiv. That won't do the reputation of that competition any favors, Dynamo won it in the end.

Unfortunately I've lost the second screenshot of the overall player stats, I'm in to pre season and transfers now so I can't get another so rather than do a screenshot for every player I'll just talk about them, if you guys do want any player screenshots that I've missed, just let me know. The pick of the players this season are Bony, Shelvey and Dyer, the team was full of good performers but these three had brilliant seasons.

Rightly so Bony is voted our Player of the Year by the faithful Swansea fans. Now let's talk about the three players I wasn't impressed with this season, it was our back up players, Tiendalli, Barrow and Richards, they all had brief spells in the team and were all very poor. Next season we've got European football so there's a lot more games to play, we'll have to replace these players with better players, who can rotate in our side.

View attachment 319278
Hopefully this section will look better in a few seasons time, I'm going to put up attribute screenshots of our young players from season to season, to see how they've progressed at the club. Unfortunately there's only really been Shelvey and Copp who've made decent progress, our training facilities are currently being upgraded, if we keep upgrading then are players will progress a lot more in training.

Finally on to some club news, the board agreed to upgrade our youth recruitment, meanwhile our shirt sales were very limited, hopefully competing in the Champions League will give those a boost, surprsingly Gomis was our top name not Bony. Kyle Copp signed his first contract with the club and our favoured centre back pairing of Williams and Bartley also had only weeks left on their contract, they also committed their future to the club.

He's everything I want in a number two, experienced and happy to sit on the bench but we'll have to find a replace when he hangs up his boots next summer. Next time we'll round up the summer transfers, coming in and going out of the club.

Well done on securing the contracts of Williams and Bartley but unlucky with Tremmel but i am sure there will be a keeper you could easily pick up especially with CL football as well
