Arsene Wenger Resigns as Arsenal Manager
After another heartbreaking, trophy-less season, Arsene Wenger has announced his resignation from Arsenal Football Club. The long-serving Frenchman was due to celebrate his 15 year anniversary as Arsenal manager in October, but that will no longer be the case. The club have released a statement on their website addressing the matter.
It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that Arsene Wenger has resigned as manager of the club after almost 15 years service. Arsene has brought tremendous success to this club, picking up 3 Premiership trophies, 4 FA Cups and 4 Community Shields. However, he will always be remembered for his guidance of the Invincibles, cementing his place in history as the first manager to go an entire season unbeaten.
Despite a busy start to the transfer market, signing 7 players in the last month, Arsene has made clear that the loss of Captain Cesc Fabregas and playmaker Samir Nasri has drastically weakened the team and he does not consider himself the right man to lead Arsenal to a title challenging position this season.
Everybody at the club would like to thank Arsene for his amazing amounts of hard work he has put in throughout his tenure with the club and we wish him the best of luck should he continue in Football management.
The board of directors are currently drawing up a shortlist of potential managers to replace Arsene, and a new manager should be announced in the next few days.

5th July 2011
It was a beautiful day in North London. The sun was beating down on Arsenal's training ground in Barnet. But the mood amongst the players was certainly not as bright, as many were still trying to cope with news that the man who had entrusted them, and become like a father figure, was no longer a part of their set-up. After watching the players unenthusiastically warm-up, Chairman Peter Hill-Wood and Managing Director Ken Friar stepped out of the shadows and onto the pitch.
"Gather round everybody, Gather Round" yelled Ken as the players gingerly formed a large group in front of the two men.
"Now, for those of you who haven't met me yet, my name is Peter Hill-Wood and I am the chairman of this club. Now I understand that many of you are still in shock from yesterday's news that Arsene had resigned as manager, but never fear!" - Peter
"Yesterday, myself, Peter and several other authority figures at this club sat down and discussed potential candidates for the job. We have come to a conclusion but before we introduce him, I would to explain something. This man has no experience being a club manager, however, we feel his playing experience, and his coaching abilities make him the perfect candidate to bring success and flair back to the club." - Ken
"So without further ado, please give a warm Arsenal welcome, to club legend, Mr Anders Limpar!".
To the amazement of many of the players, the youth especially, Anders Limpar walked out from the building onto the training ground.
"Hello everybody, as you can guess, I am Anders Limpar, and good god it feels good to be back at Arsenal!"
The new manager was met with a huge cheer from the players as they begun their first training session with the new manager.

Arsenal have today announced that club legend Anders Limpar will take over the vacant manager's role at the club. Despite lacking in managerial experience, his playing resume is certainly astonishing. The former Swedish international picked up 58 caps for his country, scoring 6 goals and was part of the Swedish team that finished 3rd in the 1990 World Cup. He also enjoyed success at Arsenal during his 4 year spell with the club, winning the League in 1991, as well as a cup double in 1993.
