Arsene Wenger Resigns as Arsenal Manager

Arsene_Wenger.jpg

After another heartbreaking, trophy-less season, Arsene Wenger has announced his resignation from Arsenal Football Club. The long-serving Frenchman was due to celebrate his 15 year anniversary as Arsenal manager in October, but that will no longer be the case. The club have released a statement on their website addressing the matter.

It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that Arsene Wenger has resigned as manager of the club after almost 15 years service. Arsene has brought tremendous success to this club, picking up 3 Premiership trophies, 4 FA Cups and 4 Community Shields. However, he will always be remembered for his guidance of the Invincibles, cementing his place in history as the first manager to go an entire season unbeaten.

Despite a busy start to the transfer market, signing 7 players in the last month, Arsene has made clear that the loss of Captain Cesc Fabregas and playmaker Samir Nasri has drastically weakened the team and he does not consider himself the right man to lead Arsenal to a title challenging position this season.

Everybody at the club would like to thank Arsene for his amazing amounts of hard work he has put in throughout his tenure with the club and we wish him the best of luck should he continue in Football management.

The board of directors are currently drawing up a shortlist of potential managers to replace Arsene, and a new manager should be announced in the next few days.

5th July 2011

It was a beautiful day in North London. The sun was beating down on Arsenal's training ground in Barnet. But the mood amongst the players was certainly not as bright, as many were still trying to cope with news that the man who had entrusted them, and become like a father figure, was no longer a part of their set-up. After watching the players unenthusiastically warm-up, Chairman Peter Hill-Wood and Managing Director Ken Friar stepped out of the shadows and onto the pitch.

"Gather round everybody, Gather Round" yelled Ken as the players gingerly formed a large group in front of the two men.

"Now, for those of you who haven't met me yet, my name is Peter Hill-Wood and I am the chairman of this club. Now I understand that many of you are still in shock from yesterday's news that Arsene had resigned as manager, but never fear!" - Peter

"Yesterday, myself, Peter and several other authority figures at this club sat down and discussed potential candidates for the job. We have come to a conclusion but before we introduce him, I would to explain something. This man has no experience being a club manager, however, we feel his playing experience, and his coaching abilities make him the perfect candidate to bring success and flair back to the club." - Ken

"So without further ado, please give a warm Arsenal welcome, to club legend, Mr Anders Limpar!".

To the amazement of many of the players, the youth especially, Anders Limpar walked out from the building onto the training ground.

"Hello everybody, as you can guess, I am Anders Limpar, and good god it feels good to be back at Arsenal!"

The new manager was met with a huge cheer from the players as they begun their first training session with the new manager.

Arsenal Confirm Swedish Legend as New Manager!

Arsenal have today announced that club legend Anders Limpar will take over the vacant manager's role at the club. Despite lacking in managerial experience, his playing resume is certainly astonishing. The former Swedish international picked up 58 caps for his country, scoring 6 goals and was part of the Swedish team that finished 3rd in the 1990 World Cup. He also enjoyed success at Arsenal during his 4 year spell with the club, winning the League in 1991, as well as a cup double in 1993.

5th July

Following his appointment as Arsenal manager, Anders Limpar made his way to the Emirates stadium after a busy day. Training and press conferences had really taken it out of him, and the 45 year old slowly made his way up to his office. As he opened the door, he could not believe his eyes. A cozy office with a tremendous view of the city became an image to remember forever as he sat down in his chair and picked up a team report left on his desk by First team coach Boro Primorac.

Limpar was already a follower of the club, so he new roughly who was in his plans, and who wasn't. However, he had inherited a batch of new stars that no-one has seen pull on an Arsenal jersey before. Arsene Wenger had signed 7 new players in the previous month. The signings are as followed.

Alex Chamberlain - Southampton - £16m
Gervinho - Lille - £10.5m
Mikel Arteta
- Everton - £10m
Per Mertesacker - Werder Bremen - £9m
Andre Santos - Fenerbache - £6m
Park Chu-Young - Monaco - £3m
Carl Jenkinson - Charlton - £1m

He decided to wait till a week to assess the squad fully in training, and in the clubs first pre-season match.

-----------------

9th July

Arsenal faced their first pre-season friendly, and new manager Anders Limpar got a first look at his new squad, as the gunners travelled north to Scotland to face Motherwell.

Not the greatest of starts to pre-season for Arsenal, however, the draw did confirm one players inevitable departure from the club. Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia found himself on the transfer list after conceding the goal just 1minute after being substituted on.

Just 4 days after being placed on the transfer list, 34 year old Spanish goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has joined Malaga for £1.9m. Almunia enjoyed 7 seasons at Arsenal, with his best run coming between 2007-2010, when he replaced Jens Lehmann as Arsenal's number 1. However, he fell out of favour to Lukasz Fabianski in 2010, and with Wojciech Sczcezsny having a fantastic season last year, Almunia had become 3rd choice goalkeeper.

-----------------

14th July

With Manuel Almunia gone, 23 year old Italian Vito Mannone got his first team chance, as he started against Colarado. Despite conceding two goals, he was spared embarrasement by the strikers, most notably, 17 year old Benik Afobe, who shone after coming on as a half-time substitute.

-----------------

15th July

Anders Limpar hadn't been in the job two weeks yet, but he had already begun defendinghis team by batting away offers for Bacary Sagna and Ryo Miyaichi from Manchester City.

There were also a bunch of new contracts handed out to players. Andrey Arshavin and Tomas Rosicky were both notable players who agreed new deals with the club, while youngsters Nico Yennaris and Josh Rees also signed new deals.

-----------------

18th July

Arsenal had set their sights on picking up some silverware as they entered the Friendly Cup. Although the cup had no worthy credability, manager Anders Limpar believed winning this would be a good experience for a side in which most players have never lifted a trophy.

The new club captain smashed his first pre-season goal to put his side into the Final of the Freindly Cup, at the expense of Mexican side Pachuca.

-----------------

19th July

Following the win against Pachuca, Arsenal set up a tie with French side Auxerre to following day.

So Arsenal were victorious in the Friendly Cup, however their was major worry for Arsenal, as injury-prone captain Robin Van Persie picked up an injury that would keep him out for up to 4 weeks.

-----------------

27th July

Over a week had past for Arsenal before their next piece of action. The squad had a chance at another pre-season trophy, as they travelled to America to face the MLS All-Stars in the All-Stars cup.

A second pre-season trophy for Arsenal! Mr Limpar will be hoping the squad can emulate their success later in the season.

-----------------

30th July

After the best part of a month as Arsenal manager, Anders Limpar finally brought in a player of his own.

View attachment 210513View attachment 210514

17 year old Bosnian midfielder Sanjin Prcic joined for £1.7m from French side Sochaux. Limpar said in a press conference:

'Prcic is a huge talent who can do wonderful things at Arsenal if he is given the right training, and support from the staff, the players and most importantly the fans.'

Arsenal fans look forward to seeing their new highly rated man in action, most likely in the League Cup in September.

Great layout and I like Arsenal on FM. Keep it up bud. Seem to be conceding alot though, try and sort that before the season starts ;)

Next update should be tomorrow or Saturday :)

Thanks for the comments everybody.

Good start, mate. Arsenal were really fun to manage on recent FM's, so I'll be following this as I'm confident it will be good. Tough break with RVP getting injured in pre-season, but he'll be fit and firing soon so I'm sure you'll be challenging as soon as the league comes around.

August 2011 - Part 1

It All Begins Here

The Premiership was fast approaching, and with just two weeks left, new manager Anders Limpar believed his new side were fully prepared for the start of the campaign. The Swede was quoted with saying;

images

"Do not expect any big name signings in what is left of this transfer window. Being a new manager, I would like at least till January to ***** my squad and find out for myself what areas need strengthening. Some young players may arrive, as well as leave on loan, but no big names will join the Gunners this August."

Manager Anders Limpar stuck to his word about young players leaving on loan. At the beginning of the month the club confirmed that Sanchez Watt had joined League 1 side Charlton Athletic on a season-long loan.

17 year old strike Benik Afobe, who scored a senior goal in pre-season, also left the club on loan, joining Exeter City for the season.

11th August

With just two days until the season kicks off, things were looking up for Arsenal, as captain Robin Van Persie passed a fitness test and would be making the trip to Bolton on the weekend. However, he was instantly replaced on the sidelines as Mr Limpar received two e-mails stating that Tomas Rosicky and Park Chu-Young would both be out for 3 weeks with minor knocks.

13th August

THE PREMIER LEAGUE RETURNS

The moment everybody had been waiting for. It would be the highlight of everybody's summer, and Arsenal fans were making their way north to face Bolton Wanderers

What a start to the season. Debutants Gervinho and Mikel Arteta showed real class in every Arsenal attack, giving fans a glimpse of a bright future. Their was also a debut for Andre Santos, who had a good game until he was taken off with a thigh strain that would keep him out of action for 3 weeks.
.
17th August

With the opening day of the league out of the way, Arsenal faced a tough few weeks, with qualification for the Champion's League becoming a top priority. Standing in the Gunners way was Italian side Udinese. Udinese captain Antonio Di Natale was quoted in a press conference with saying;

"Arsenal had a good start to the season, but we want to put a quick end to that. A win against them at home will really give us the drive we need to go to the Emirates next week and seal our spot in the group stage".

Post-match Press Conference

Journalist - "Mr Limpar, a great result for your side but just how drastic is it to lose Robin Van Persie?"

Limpar - "Of course it is a big blow to lose a player of Van Persies quality, but I can confirm his injury will only sideline him for 3 weeks, and with Walcott and Chamakh in good form, I hope we can get by these next few games just fine."

Journalist - "That win gives you a huge advantage going into the second leg next week, will you be trying to defend the lead or add to it?"

Limpar - "That all depends really. If after the weekend I have a team full of fatigued players, I may opt to give overs a chance, however, I will also need to assess everybody's match fitness and take into account who needs games in order to maintain fitness, but I would definately like to add to our lead and keep any pressure Udinese put on us to a minimum."

Writer's note

I will be doing updates of half a month instead of a full month due to the size of the updates. I also feel that it will make for a more gripping read :)

Thank you everybody for reading.
I would much appreciate some feedback on my new Match report system.

Again, thanks for reading :) Second half of August hopefully up over the weekend.

August 2011 - Part 2

20th August

With Arsenal almost on their way to the Champion's League Group stage, they had a Premiership game to take care off before they could seal the tie against Udinese. New signing Mikel Arteta was most excited, as Arsenal hosted Everton. Arteta joined Anders Limpar in the pre-match press conference, and had this to say;

Journalist - "Mikel, how does it feel for you to be facing your former club so early into the season?"

Arteta - "Obviously it is a great feeling for me. I spent so many years at Everton and I do truely respect the side and the fans. I really hope the fans will show me the same amount of respect that I will be showing them. Many players get booed when returning to their old clubs but I want to remind any Everton fan of my successes as an Everton player and to urge them not to boo me."

Post-Match Interview

ARTETA-300x168.jpg

Reporter - "Mikel, unlucky today but a good win for the side none-the-less. Was there a specific reason for your penalty miss?"

Arteta - "To be honest, I was expecting to be met with a bad reaction, and when we awarded a penalty I thought it was the perfect chance to silence them, but I just got too far ahead of myself. That is all."

----------------------

23rd August

1 game stood between Arsenal and a space in Thursday's Champions League group stage draw. Arsenal already led Udinese by 3 goals to 1 on aggregate, and the Italians would have to win by 3 clear goals at the Emirates to go through, a task which looked impossible considering the Gunners recent form.

----------------------

25th August

Arsenal had done it. Despite being handed, arguably, the toughest team in the qualifying round, Arsenal had made it to Nyon in Switzerland were the draw for the Group Stage would take place. Mr Limpar was there himself to represent his club, and to find out first hand who Arsenal would be facing in Europe over the next few months.

The draw put Arsenal in Group F:
View attachment 210809View attachment 210810View attachment 210811View attachment 210812

A very hard group for Arsenal, but Anders Limpar instantly had a smile on his face when every team was drawn into Arsenal's group. He said after the draw;

"Yes the draw has given our rivals the 'easier' teams, but I am fully relishing these games. Progression from this group will show that Arsenal really do have what it takes to go all the way in this competition. I will be an honour to play against some of the best players in Europe at the moment, such as Hamsik, Cavani, Soldado and Derdiyok."

----------------------

28th August

With the end of the month comes Arsenals toughest test yet. They would face off against Manchester City in what was shaping up to be an epic encounter. This summer had saw Arsenal's playmaker of last season Samir Nasri jump ship to Manchester City, as well as long-serving left back Gael Clichy. But the Gunners Alumni were in for a bit of a shock.

What a win for Arsenal, which keeps up their 100% winning start to the season, leaving them 2nd in the Premiership, equal on points with Manchester United, but trailing by goal difference.

---------------------

31st August

The end of a sensational month for Anders Limpar's Arsenal. The new manager was awarded as he was named Manager of the Month for August. Theo Walcott also came 2nd in the Player of the Month award.

With 3 games played in the League, and 5 overall, Arsenal's goalscoring charts look like this:

Overall

Theo Walcott - 3
Marouane Chamakh - 2
Laurent Koscielny - 2
Gervinho - 1
Yossi Benayoun - 1

----------------------

Thanks for reading. September up in the next few days hopefully :) Not sure if it will be one or two parts but stick around.

there you go man. and yeah its a tough group but it ill be a great test :) If we can dominate the group we got a good chance of getting far. Plus it will guarantee two good teams not going through to the next round :P

EDIT: I play Song as an Anchor man, not DM. Just played a League cup game with Frimpong there and forgot to chance it back :P

Good story and I like the layout, Only thing I don't like is the story in games which is really small writing and difficult to read. I've started a Arsenal game myself and enjoying it, Keep up the good work mate.

What a few months it has been for new Arsenal playmaker Mikel Arteta. Having secured a big money move in the summer to the Gunners, he topped off his summer by winning his first cap for Spain, replacing Barcelona midfielder Xavi in the Spainish side to face Lichtenstein.

10th September

Following the international break at the beginning of the month, it was back to business for Arsenal, as they played host to London rivals QPR

.A comfortable victory for the Gunners to kick off the month.

14th September

With the Premiership out of the way, Arsenal were set to begin their European adventure. Standing in Arsenal's way was Spainsh giants Valencia. Arsenal had to travel to Spain, with Valencia in red hot form.

What a way for Arsenal to kick off their European campaign. A Sensational win for the Gunners, who were truly amazing.

17th September

Just three days after their grueling encounter with Valencia in Spain, Arsenal were hard at work again, with a trip to face Aston Villa.

A lacklustre performance from the Arsenal side, but they would get their chance to regain steam in the next match.

20th September

The month was quickly disappearing and it was time for Arsenal's first taste of League Cup action. They played host to Blackpool, and the Arsenal faithful got a look at a bright future for the club.

Part 2 will follow very shortly hopefully, I have just been very busy with mas and stuff so sorry for the inactivity at times :P

Love the content in this story. The Daily Mirror graphics to update your match results is genius, you get alot of information whilst taking up little space. Very creative.

Keep up the good works even though your Arsenal! (:
