Decent enough player, but five mil? For a central defender, which is probably 'Pool's strongest position? Blimey, whatever hack thought that one up is smoking something impressive.

On the other hand, he is actually in talks with the club. And I think you'll find a Benzema rumour has already cropped up. :P

If Houllier brings in any talent like Anelka I for one will not be complaining. ;)

I can see us selling him to you, but I can't see him "fitting in" in quite the way you think he might. Young is a big fish in a small pond, and he likes it that way. Because he has little sense to see that, he could move to United, become a small fish in a big pond, and possibly falter.

Fair enough, but Houllier decided not to buy Anelka, and bought one El Hadj Diouf (A)

But no, I totally see where you're coming from. Has he said something along those lines somewhere? Seems to lack ambition :/

Yeah, if anyone could get him in line it's Ferguson.

I don't think the problem is lack of ambition, I think it's monstrous ambition coupled with relatively limited talent, as well as a sense of loyalty. Villa have been good to him and he's loyal to us, but ambition is pulling him onwards. He wants to become one of the best in the world, but anyone can see he won't be. Tricky situation, I think.

Bit harsh? You can't blame him for his team hoofing it up to him, and he's never been given the chance to prove himself as anything else. Either way, you can't deny he's very good at what he does.
 
Fair points, but not someone I'd like to see in a Spurs shirt.

Dzeko or Llorente would be my first choices.
