Josep van Branco / I've Made It / 2019

Well, that was the best year of my life.

After being anxious about going to Shakhtar, they were actually really good to me. I become a key player straight away, we won the league, and played in the Champions League Group against Aresnal, Leverkusen and Slaven Bratislava. We were knocked out in the groups which was disappointing, but I put in some good performances, especially at home to Arsenal in a 2-2 draw.

In September 2018, I was called up to the Holland squad, and started in a friendly against Slovakia. I was over the moon, it was a dream to play with players like Robin van Persie and Memphis Depay. I have since made 4 appearances for the national team, including a 5-0 over Moldova where I was named MOTM. I aim to cement a place in the side before the Euro's start in 2020.

I also played in the U21 Euro Championship. Holland were knocked out in the groups which was disappointing, but I was named player of the tournament! Players like Luis Figo and Juan Mata have won the award before, it was an honour to be among those names.

I was in holiday in Valencia with my girlfriend, when my agent called. There had been interest from Barcelona, Atletico and Liverpool in my services, and he told me that Barcelona had made a bid, and it had been accepted! To be linked with Barca and Liverpool is an absolute dream, they are my two favourite clubs since I was a little child. I flew up the Spanish coast that day, and put a pen to paper! It was done, I was a Barcelona player! I couldn't believe it, it all happened to fast to sink in. The La Liga champions was my new home, and a chance to play with Messi..

On the first day of training, I walked into the changing rooms nervously, and he was sat there. Lionel Messi was right in front of me, talking to a young Italian named Simono Minochi. Messi introduced me to the club, he told me he had seen me play and I have a lot of potential. I hardly replied I was so nervous! But what an honour it was for him to say he believed in my ability. I then spoke to Minochi. He has been at Barca since 2016, he was signed from Pescara as the heir to Messi's throne. He showed me round the facilities quickly, before introducing me to the rest of the squad. He seemed like a good guy, off the pitch. We started pinging some balls to each other and it was quickly clear to me why Barca had signed him. He hadn't been in the 1st team much, but I was sure this was his breakout year, and I hoped I would be on the pitch with him.

What a year. And what a year I have ahead. I get paid 80k per week by Barcelona, to do what I love. Let's win some trophies!

Wow I went to City! big move...lets just hope they play me haha!

I feel like I've progressed as a footballer over the past 4 seasons, still waiting for my big break but I'm patient because I know there's a lot more to come from me

My biggest achievement? That's easy, representing my country at U21 level. I see a lot of my friends have moved onto pastures new and good luck to them. I aim to establish myself in the Southampton team, but I do owe a lot to MK Dons for my successful loan spell, which I feel helped me to my U21 caps.

Laurent Dubois - Season 5 review (July 2019):

For the third season in a row, Dubois has been sent out on loan to get more first team experience. However, unlike the past two seasons, Dubois made rather good contributions to the Bertha Young Boys club in the Swiss Super league.

Dubois has made 20 appearances for the Swiss side, scoring 3 goals and assisting 3 goals. Local media suggests that Dubois has grown as a player while playing for the Young Boys. Dubois, mentor Patrice Daudet said he was very pleased with his progress and had a lot of encouraging words for the 20 year Frenchman.

"Laurent has done well for the BSC Young Boys. His passing - accuracy and range have gotten much better. He is trying to emulate the likes of Pirlo and Scholes with his long range passing and it's delightful to see," said an enthusiastic Daudet.

Daudet believes that Laurent Dubois is ready for Southampton's first team and he should look to cement his place once he gets the chance as he is entering a crucial part of his career.

Dubois expressed happiness following his progress at Young Boys. "It's a nice club and the staff here are very friendly. A bit disappointed with them [injuries] as I've missed about two months football but despite that, it has been good."

Well there has certainly been some progress made over the last 5 years. I think the 4th season really knocked me back a bit due to injuries and I am not sure how much longer I will be at Liverpool in my opinion. My determination and jumping reach seem to be the only stats to have dropped while the rest look to have increased, especially my composure on the ball which is up from 5 to 12.

A career stats update will hopefully be up soon once I find the link and the time to get access to the game.

Season 6 Bullardinho Review

I have had another unbelievable season here at Stoke and I feel really settled here now, the fans have taken me in as one of their own and I am considered one of the clubs favoured personnel. I have to say although I was slightly short of my outstanding form in my debut season, I am more proud of my achievements this term as I show I am not just a one season wonder and I do have the quality to be considered a great in the future. I still have plenty to shout about this season as you can see from my accolades..

Once again it doesn't stop there though, you would have thought being inducted into the Premiership Team of the Year and being the leagues top scorer 2 years in a row would have been enough but oh no.. I may have single handedly helped my country win the Euro's...

That's right, on the biggest night of my career, on the night that my entire life had been building up to until this point, not only did I score our only 2 goals to help us into a penalty shoot out situation but I scored my crucial penalty as well to help England lift the European Championship trophy.. I think I could retire a happy young man right now!

My Profile

I think as a player, attribute wise I may have peaked, although that really doesn't bother me as I have a good 10 years still in me at least to maintain this peak. I have established my self now as one of the best up and coming forwards in European football and I am not going to stop now until I win the prestigious Ballon D'or!!

Brilliant work by you there! btw how have my stats looked last couple years? just interested to see if i actually played for Man City lol

LAURENT DUBOIS SEASON 6 REVIEW (JULY 2020)
View attachment 276256
Dubois spent the last season on loan in France, playing for his hometown club of Olympique Lyonnais. Supporters of the club were delighted to see one of their own back at the club. Dubois established himself as a regular for the club in the season, featuring in the club's best XI for the season. Dubois' stats are shown below:

Dubois' international appearances were reduced to the U21s, where his performances were rather lackluster. With the exception of a good performance against Switzerland U21, the youngster struggled to make significant impact for the side.

Patrice Daudet, Dubois' mentor said that he went to almost every Lyon game to watch him play. Daudet said that he was impressed with Dubois. "I thought he did great. Everyone supporting the club welcomed a local boy, even though it was just for a season long loan. He made himself a very key feature in this team, which surprises me as to why he couldn't do this at Southampton."

Dubois will be spending the next season on loan again, but this time for fellow French club AS Monaco FC.

Laurent Dubois has made significant improvements in his anticipation (+8), off the ball movement (+7), strength (+7), penalties (+7), concentration (+6) and passing (+5). Dubois said that he feels he is ready for regular first team action for Southampton and says he is a lot more confident of himself now than he was a few seasons ago.

Did you do those graphs up yourself Mask? I've never seen them in game. They are awesome!

I can share the excel sheet with you guys in the discussion thread, if you guys want. :)

A story of what could have been.

A shattered dream
The last time I wrote, I thought I had made it big. But my dream move to Lazio turned out to be just that, a dream. Ever since then, my whole career has gone down the drain. Injuries have plagued my three last seasons, and I feel like I will never be the player I was meant to be.

Up until that summer of 2017, I was making fantastic progress. I was young, hopeful, and I thought I had it all ahead of me. Now, however, I feel like this is all I will ever achieve. For the last three years, I haven't become a better footballer at all, if anything I have become worse. Younger kids now dominate me at practices, and I can't seem to keep up with the tempo. I struggle to trust my instincts in games, and I always have the nagging feeling that if I push myself too hard, I will get injured again.

To take a look at my progress, there is a very clear tendency:

Technical progress.

I made fantastic progress until 2017, especially on my crossing, dribbling, first touch and long shots. However, since 2017, there has been no real progress, making me fear that this is as good as I'll ever be.

View attachment 276118

Mental progress.

I made some big improvements early on, especially on my composure and concentration. My vision has reached an impressive level as well, and my tutoring in 2017 made my determination really jump. However, no major changes since 2017, as I seem less determined to succeed as well now, than I did back then.

View attachment 276117
Physical progress.

Already in my first year I worked hard on my strength and stamina, to get them up to an acceptable level. The results were good, and I made steady progress, reaching my peak in 2017. I really felt I was on my way to becoming a great physical presence. My injuries have hampered me severely, so at the moment, I fear I will never reach the fitness levels I once had.

Conclusion:
It might still be a bit early to tell, but I fear that the story of Are Burheim, the Norwegian wonderkid, might well become only a story of what might have been :(
