Great story.

Rodrigo Gomez is great on this game. Signed him at the beginning/middle of my 3rd season for 1m (contract running out) and he went on to win player of the year in the next season and is now valued at ?15m. Getting Balanta nice and cheap as well is a great bit of business!

Yeah he's had a very decent start, Balanta has very good stats for his age. Reminds me of Zouma a bit

Stunning 3 goal comeback against Olympiakos
Get spanked by Dortmund
Average month in the league

League

Southampton 2 - 0 Sunderland

Osvaldo, Barry

Straight forward win over basement boys Sunderland, good to see Osvaldo and Barry on the scoresheet.

Southampton 1 - 0 Everton

Schneiderlin

I'll take this, Everton might have had a disappointing season last year but they're no pushovers.

Manchester United 2 - 2 Southampton

Lukaku, Cerci

WHAT. A. GAME. Twice we took the lead, twice they came back. Then in the dying minutes Omeruo gives away a penalty, but the in form Alex McCarthy dives low to his left to deny United the win!! Super game.

Brighton 1 - 1 Southampton

Lukaku

Shock package Brighton showed me why they're doing so well this year, it took a goal from Lukaku in the 79th minute to save us a point here!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Champions League

Olympiakos 3 - 3 Southampton

Barry, Lallana, Balanta

Superb comeback from the lads here. 3-0 down but we never gave up, I got my tactics a bit wrong here but a bit of tinkering done the trick and we walk away with a draw!!

Borussia Dortmund 4 - 1 Southampton

Osvaldo

Yeah...we got the D. They were simply too good for us. Reus and Schmelzer ran the show for them and gave Clyne the run around all game the poor lad.

Monthly Review

So not a bad month really. We secured third place in our Champions League group with a game left against Madrid and I'll be fielding the kids in that game, its meaningless really. Undefeated in the league as well but drawing to Brighton was a bit of a let down but it's still very tight up there and United are catching up...

In other news City sacked their manager and Guus Hiddink who was Liverpool manager got the job, Liverpool then offered me an interview.... I obviously declined. I despise Liverpool, being a Chelsea fan an all plus they're 12th.. why would I leave a title contending side for a team in 12th?!

Player of the Month

Romelu Lukaku

romelu_lukaku_1748412c.jpg

It may not be raining goals for the big Belgian but he's getting decent ratings and is always a handful for defences. Also won BPL Young Player of the Month.

Like I said tight at the top but just look at how bad a season City and Liverpool are having.. already miles behind us and Chelsea. Fair play to Stoke too who I thought might have fallen away but they're still well in there!!

Can't wait to read more! :)

What are you going to do when Chelsea finally offer you the top job? :)

Sorry about the lack of updates been really busy with work. December will be out tonight!!

That depends on when they offer it to me. I have a lot of targets with Southampton, I won't consider leaving them until I've won everything!!

Barbosa finally hits some form
Kids do well against Madrid in the final Champions League tie
Good results in the league until the final match against Newcastle

League

Southampton 1 - 0 Norwich

Cerci

Solid performance here with Cerci netting to get us the three points!

Crystal Palace 1 - 4 Southampton

Cerci, Lukaku(2), Omeruo

Very decent win here, a mad final 10 minutes really made it interesting but we were always in control.

Southampton 3 - 1 Wigan

Gomez, Barbosa, Ward-Prowse

Tidy enough win and Barbosa finally netting as well. Three young stars all scoring is nice to see.

Southampton 4 - 1 Aston Villa

Osvaldo(2), Omeruo, Barbosa

Very decent performance here with Osvaldo netting a double, Omeruo on the scoresheet again and Barbosa also finding the net.

Newcastle 2 - 0 Southampton

The worst performance I have ever seen us give. Dreadful all over the pitch, certainly a match to forget.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Capital One Cup

Quarter Final

Southampton 2 - 0 Brighton

Barbosa, Gomez

Those two summer signings net again, we move into the semi-finals where we've been matched up with United.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Champions League

Southampton 1 - 2 Real Madrid

Barbosa

I kept my promise and gave the likes of Stephens, Digby, Chambers and Barbosa a start and they all did well. Stephens and Balanta managed to keep Ronaldo quiet which is some feat. We finish third in our group so drop into the Europa League.

So I can't remember too much about the performances from this month to be honest but results wise we done well I'd say. In terms of the players Morgan Schneiderlin has asked to leave so will be sold in January which means I'm going to need to sign a new central midfielder. Luckily I've changed the season expectations and thanks to my tight control of the wage budget we have ?30m to spend before we've even sold Schneiderlin!

We've got a big month in January with the Capital One Cup semi-final against United, and league ties against Arsenal and Liverpool.

Player of the Month

Luke Shaw

Another great month from the young full back, hard to believe he's still only 19. Also got called up for the England squad but didn't feature last month.

So we're still keeping up with Chelsea in the league, United and City are pretty much out of it already.

any way I can pinch your tactics?? can you upload them? would love to do a southampton save :D :)

Schneiderlin ends up staying after no teams meets my value
Plenty of fixtures means plenty of rotation
Lloyd Isgrove nets his first goal for the club

Two new signings for us, Angelo Ogbonna joins from Juve after he was transfer listed. The lads a top quality centre back and to secure him for such a small fee is great business. Second new signing is young Gaston Gil Romero who will eventually replace Schneiderlin when I manage to offload him. Sadly Romero didn't get a work permit so has gone out on loan to try and get one from our feeder club.

Leaving us most notably was Gaston Ramirez for a fee of ?4m, he was never the same after his horror injury and even before that never really impressed me. Jake Sinclair went out on loan to get some game time.

League

Fulham 0 - 2 Southampton

Barbosa, Osvaldo

Two early goals won the game here, after that we sat back and controlled the game very nicely.

Southampton 4 - 2 Liverpool

Lukaku(2), Gomez, Lambert

521fc7b7c5b0fa016ee442e76df6ce98.png

What a brilliant game of attacking football, both defences guilty of some errors but out front 3 of Gomez, Ward-Prowse and Lukaku were sensational.

Southampton 3 - 1 Swansea

Gomez, Lukaku(2)

Gomez scored after 52 seconds here after a great lofted ball by Prowsey, Lukaku made it 2 with a header just after. Swansea pulled one back but Lukaku scored another header late on to put a bit of polish on the result.

Southampton 3 - 1 Leeds United

Lallana, Barbosa, Ogbonna

Another 3-1 win, 2nd minute free-kick from Lallana kicked things off and after 8 minutes Barbosa scored a great goal. Ogbonna scored his first goal for the club just before half-time from a corner. Leeds got one back on the counter from a corner of ours but we held on well.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FA Cup

Third Round

Southampton 3 - 0 Blackburn

Gomez, Lukaku, Lovren

Easy win here over Blackburn. Simple as that.

Fourth Round

Southampton 4 - 1 Norwich

Cerci, Isgrove, Lambert(2)

Very tidy performance here. Lloyd Isgrove has had a top month and scored a cracking volley here. Next round we have either Spurs or City though....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Capital One Cup

Semi-Final 1st Leg

Southampton 1 - 1 Manchester United

Lukaku

Very very tight match here, Lukaku missed a penalty but scored the follow up. We managed to hold on until the 54th minute when Rooney broke free and scored. Could have gone either way but ended a draw....

Semi-Final 2nd Leg

Manchester United 0 - 1 Southampton

Evans O.G

22312b64a5db0fe47de43ce9950155a6.png

Bit of a poor game really and it was always going to be settled by something dodgy and Evans headed into his own net from a corner!! We march into the final!!

A perfect month really. I'm delighted with our performances, especially Lambert, Barbosa and Isgrove. Been fringe/rotational players this season but all had a great month especially Lloyd Isgrove. I've shown a lot of faith in the young lad by not signing a new left winger and playing him when Osvaldo has needed a rest and he's always proven to be a real handful for defences.

I'm pretty happy with my signings too, Ogbonna is a solid centre back and Romero will be a top player in a few years I feel. Hopefully we can get him a work permit in the summer. I was hugely disappointed with the bids I had come in for Schneiderlin, highest bid was ?3.9m from United and I wasn't gonna strengthen a rival for that little price.

Player of the Month

Lloyd Isgrove

In a busy month the lad has stepped up getting a number of assists and netting his first goal for the club too.

Us and Chelsea seem to be pulling away from the chasing pack right now and if we can make those games in hand count then we will go top!!! All looking very interesting!
