The Carabao Cup Third Round Draw

View attachment 79522
View attachment 79520

So the Carabao Cup Third Round Draw has been made and it sees Tottenham travel to Middleborough in a tie which will not be as easy as it looks. The Championship team who were relegated last season are a plucky team and could cause Spurs some problems at their own ground.

Two of the tastier ties see Arsenal travel to Liverpool and Burnley at home to West Brom. Chelsea will face Swansea and Southampton will take on relegated Sunderland.

The Champions League Group Draw

View attachment 79514
The Group Stages of The Champions League have been unveiled and it sees Tottenham fall into a potential group of death. Group B contains last years winners and best ever Champions League team; Real Madrid, German giants Dortmund and strong Portuguese team Sporting CP.

Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping Tottenham's home form at Wembley will help them to gather up the points against Madrid and Dortmund. Suddenly things look bleak for Spurs in the Champions League. Progression will be extremely hard work.

So the first game of the season saw Tottenham pick up a draw against Burnley away from home... The fans were disappointed with that result and will definitely see it as 2 points dropped rather than a point earned. Spurs will be aiming for a Top 4 finish this season and to perform well in either the Carabao Cup or The FA Cup. Performances like the draw against Burnley will not be accepted or appreciated by the fans or the hierarchy.

Luckily this campaign is still in it's infancy and there will be plenty of time for Tottenham Hotspur to grab points.

A completely different Tottenham Hotspur side turned up today. Spurs who drew their first match of the 2017/18 campaign looked fantastic. Whether it was because they were playing at their makeshift home ground Wembley or because Pochettino has given them some firm words of advice after the draw with Burnley we won't know.

Son Heung-Min playing in the left midfield role scored two great goals. First a volley from a lobbed Dele Alli through ball and another from a Christian Eriksen cross. Harry Kane managed to get Tottenham off the mark early and the Lillywhites never really looked like losing from the early 4th minute goal scored by the Englishman.

Oh the difference a week can make! After performing well against the Potters last week Tottenham were taken to task by Newcastle who although they fell behind early on played well throughout the 90 minutes. It was Harry Kane who grabbed the goal to give Spurs the early lead once again. However Pochettino will be disappointed with the way his team then decided to rest on their laurels and allow Newcastle to claw their way back into the match.

Mohamed Diame levelled the score just before half time making Pochettino's half time team talk very different to the one he would of had in mind. The second half became scrappy for both teams. The game was end to end but neither team could muster a breakthrough in the match,

Summer Transfer Window 2017 Summary

View attachment 79392
View attachment 79391

With the summer Transfer Window having now closed on the 31st August 2017 we will take a look at a few of the top transfers. There have been a few surprises in what has been a rather quiet window. Manchester United's acquisition of Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea's purchase of Alvaro Morata were the stand out transfers within the window.

View attachment 79390

As you can see below Chelsea added to their transfer dealings with the signing of Jordi Alba, Tottenham signed Lucas from Atletico Madrid who they had alot of dealings with this summer. Manchester City signed Manchester United target Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan. It was Spurs who spent the most money and Swansea signed the most players.

View attachment 79381

Other transfers of note are below but the standouts include Pizzi moving from Benfica to Manchester United, Arthur moving to Spurs, Derlis Gonzalez moving to West Ham and Lorenzo De Silvestri going to South Coast club Bournemouth.

Financial Breakdown Of The European Summer Transfer Window

So the Premier League outspent every other nations league in Europe this summer! The league outspent the second place Bundesliga by over double the amount the German top tier managed to spend.

View attachment 79373

Tottenham Hotspur Transfer Window 2017 Summary

Tottenham bought in several players this Transfer Window... They signed Arthur from Gremio and three players from Atletico Madrid... Nicolas Gaitan, Lucas and Angel Correa on loan. Pochettino had already signed Serge Aurier, Juan Foyth and Paulo Gazzaniga earlier on in the Transfer Window.

There were not many outgoings at all at the club and Tottenham managed to keep hold of all of their star players. Only fringe players were allowed to leave on loan.

August 2017 Premier League Update

View attachment 79358

So after the first 3 games of Premier League the table is starting to take shape. Some of the usual suspects are at the top of the table with Chelsea sitting atop of the table at the moment. Huddersfield are surprising many pundits and media outlets at present having won 2 out of their 3 opening games. Leicester, West Ham and Stoke haven't managed to register a single point yet this season and if they don't start producing some results then it may well end up becoming a long, hard arduous season for them.

Manager Of The Month - August 2017

View attachment 79357

Jose Mourinho claims the first Manager Of The Month award for this season. He has led his team to 3 straight wins in the league whilst managing to get his team playing an exciting brand of football. With Chelsea top of the table alphabetically it must have been a tough decision to choose between Mourinho and Antonio Conte the Chelsea manager.

Player Of The Month - August 2017

View attachment 79356

Lukaku has played some scintillating football so far in the league. The Belgian has scored 5 goals in only 3 games and will now be starting to wonder if he can go on to win the Golden Boot award for this season. Lukaku will have his team mates to thank for this award as they have laid on the goals for him this August.

Young Player Of The Month - August 2017

View attachment 79355

Tottenham Hotspurs Dele Alli claims the Young Player Of The Month award for August having played two games but playing sensationally well. Pochettino will be hoping that Alli can continue his great form and continue to score goals to better aid Spurs' chances for some silverware this season.

Tottenham will be looking to improve their form over the next couple of matches the fans have been let down by some shoddy performances as of late. Tottenham do still however boast an undefeated record in the league and with games against Crystal Palce and West Brom they will be looking to keep this record untarnished. Spurs do however have their first Champions League match of the 2017/18 campaign against Dortmund away at the Westfalonstadion in Germany and will be hoping to come away with that match unscathed.

Tottenham Hotspurs best game of the season by a country mile. The players are starting to look like they are gelling and there are some lovely passages of football on display. Wembley seems to be positive stadium move at the time being and the players seem happy to play there. Pochettino will be disappointed to have conceded 2 goals but Tottenham looked sublime going forward.

Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-Min scored two goals a minute apart after seeing their side go 1-0 down from a Christian Benteke header. The Spurs fightback continued after Palce levelled again and it was Harry Kane who scored Tottenham third goal with a curling effort into the top right of Wayne Hennessey's goal. Arthur grabbed his first ever goal for Spurs too with a simple tap in from a Nico Gaitan cross.

Spurs continue their decent form in this game and Pochettino will be ecstatic that his team have managed to come away with a point from this match. The match in itself was very even but it was Dortmund who had the more dominance and intent when coming forward. Some good news for Spurs fans is that Danny Rose made a comeback for the club and finished the match earning some valuable match sharpness.

With Real Madrid winning their game against Sporting Lisbon it opens this group wide open and literally it could be any of the 4 teams qualifying from it. Exciting times in this group.

Nicolas Gaitan has announced himself to the Premier League and will be starting to become a cult hero for the Lillywhites. Two goals in this game helped see Tottenham cruise past a unfit looking West Brom side. Danny Rose again grabbed some vital minutes in the game and all of a sudden things are starting to look rosier for Tottenham at the moment.

There was a red card for West Brom as their new signing Salif Sane was sent off fo two yellow card offences. Tottenham however didn't benefit from the advantage and were happy to keep control of the game.

Tottenham have been in steady form so far this season, one critique is that they have drawn a few more matches than they would of liked to but it is still early days for Pochettino and his team. One big positive is the away draw against Dortmund which will have given them confidence going forward in the Champions League where they will face Real Madrid next. Spurs now lye 4th in the Premier League and with their target to end the campaign in the top 4 it will be up to the Spurs manager to ensure his side remain in this position.

THIRD ROUND

Do not be fooled by this scoreline Middlesborough deserved more from this game and spent alot of the game on the front foot. Lewis Baker on loan from Chelsea was phenomenal and had a couple of chances to score for the Borough. The Riverside was rocking when Patrick Bamford equalised for Middlesborough cancelling out Mousa Dembele's opener for Tottenham.

All Middlesborough's hard work was undone in the 71st minute when Juan Foyth scored on his debut from a corner and after a mix up from the Borough defenders. Foyth stabbed the ball home from close range to ensure Tottenham took the 3 points in this match.

A real peach of a match here, Leicester were extremely plucky and gave Tottenham a massive headache in this match. Harry Kane was in great form and scored 2 goals. Riyad Mahrez however was also in great form and he too scored 2 goals to keep Leicester in the match.

Tottenham's Arthur who signed during the summer is now starting to get to grips with the Premier League and has had many admirers from the media who are toutig him to become a Tottenham sensation. It was the Brazilian who scored the winning goal and it was a fantastic 20 yard curler from outside the box. Tottenham deserved to win the match and they did so in style.

Spurs looked overwhelmed in this match. The power of Real Madrid was just too much and Gareth Bale looked astonishingly good. It was the Welshman who punished his former team scoring from an acute angle from a Toni Kroos cross. Marcelo scored Madrid's second goal after a mix up in the Spurs defence which allowed the Madrid left back to waltz into the Spurs box and slide the ball past Hugo Lloris.

Tottenham did have more shots but couldn't make them count. Pochettino will be disappointed his team couldn't convert and he will now be hoping his team can claim points against Sporting CP in their next Champions League match.

Manchester United looked good at home in this match and really took the game by the scruff of the neck. Tottenham did take the lead via a Harry Kane goal but Romelu Lukaku equalised just before halftime to change what Pochettino would of been planning to talk to his team about at half time.

After halftime the United onslaught continued but Spurs did manage to keep them at bay. Jan Vertonghen and Lucas played well keeping Lukaku and Rashford from giving United the lead. Hugo Lloris was also in great form and he helped t keep Tottenham in the game.

It could be something FM did but they pics started working for me again when I replaced my files.
I opened them in paint and just "saved as" and overwrite the original files and they started working again.
Might be a coincidence but I figured I'd share that tid-bit :p

September 2017 Premier League Update

View attachment 78928

The Premier League is 7 games old now and it isn't looking good for Stoke who still haven't picked up any points as they dwindle down the foot of the table. West Brom and Leicester have all picked up points this month and it leaves Stoke having to pick up points as soon as possible or else face certain relegation. Arsenal are at the top of the table with Chelsea breathing down their necks followed by, Liverpool, Tottenham and Man Utd who are all only a few points apart. Tottenham and Chelsea remain the only 2 teams unbeaten so far this season but with draws costing them the 3 points in matches it is Arsenal who deservedly lead the Premier League.

Manager Of The Month - September 2017

View attachment 78927

With Arsenal sitting pretty at the top of The Premier League there is no wonder why Arsene Wenger is Septembers Manager Of The Month. Arsenal did however lose their last match away to Crystal Palace but the style of football Wenger has his team playing is fantastic. It will be interesting to see if Wenger can keep his team running on all cylinders or if his team as historically proved start seeing their form dip running up to the festive period.

Player Of The Month - September 2017

View attachment 78926

Liverpool's impressive position in the league has in no doubt been helped by Roberto Firmino who has scored a goal in each of this months Premier League matches. Jurgen Klopp seems to know how to get the best out of his Brazilian striker come winger and it looks as if Firmino may be in for a hugely successful season.

Young Player Of The Month - September 2017

View attachment 78925

Tottenham Hotspur's latest import is already making waves in the Premier League. The young Brazilian has scored 2 goals in 4 appearances this month and has been impressing the fans and pundits alike. The Youngster has been likened to a younger Kaka and with plaudits like that coming his way Arthur will need to keep his feet on the ground or risk becoming one of the many players who fail to live up to their potential.

September 2017 Champions League Update

View attachment 78924

Tottenham see themselves in a rather precarious position at the moment in their Champions League group. WIth a rather impressive away draw against Dortmund they capitulated against Real Madrid, a result which sees Spurs with only 1 point from their opening 2 games. With the away and home matches against Sporting CP coming up, Pochettino will be hoping to claim 6 points to aid his teams cause in this competition.
