Cahill landed "awkwardly" in Training

Tottenham defender Gary Cahill has been injured in training according to manager Jamie Redknapp.

Cahill is yet to play a competitive game at Spurs yet and will be out for there opening game against Blackburn and the first leg of Tottenham's Champions League campaign next Wednesday.

"He was playing well" said Redknapp
"He was heading the ball all the time in defence. He landed awkwardly . He jumped up with Crouchy for the ball and landed badly on his right ankle. Luckily he is only out for two games."

Tottenham announce Verrati Deal

Tottenham have announced the £140,000 signing will be joining White Hart Lane this season.

16 year-old Italian Marco Verrati will join Sours on a 5 year deal from Italy side Pescara.

"Tottenham are a massive club." said an excited Verrati.
"It is a big challenge but an exciting one for myself. I recieved a call from Davide Valeron (Verrati's Agent.) He said that Juventus and Spurs have put offers in for me, both of which have been accepted. I had no interest of going to Turin to discuss terms. I wanted to jump on a plane and head for London which is exactly what i did."

Marco will become part of the Tottenham Reserve team but is amazingly eligable for the first team squad at any time. Also, he has been registered in the Champions League play off legs against Sampdoria but is unlikely to feature.

Tottenham thrash sloppy Sampdoria

A brace from Jermain Defoe helped Tottenham to demolish Sampdoria at White Hart Lane 5-0.

Spurs started their Champions League campaign with a very convincing win against Italian outfit Sampdoria. Spurs dominated the first half with Michael Dawson coming close with a powerful header and Ashley Young hiting the crossbar.

But Spurs finally did take the lead on 38 minutes after Edin Dzeko played in Rafael Van Der Vaart who put the ball in the net.
3 minutes later, Jermain Defoe powered Tottenham two in front. Tottenham were looking good. And the Spurs fans were in heaven as Jermain Defoe added his second and Tottenham's third with a good finish on 55 minutes.

Just 6 minutes later Ashley Young's corner was perfectly headed in by Spurs defender Ledley King.

Tottenham completed the rout on 77 minutes when Ashley Young scored a calm and composed strike.

"It always feels nice to score two goals." said a smiling Jermain Defoe in a post match interview.
"Before the match, i think all the lads were confident that we could win and we just played really well and we deserved to win by five.
Jamie Redknapp though, believe's the game is not over.
"Of course wer'e not through yet! If we are complacent in Italy then we can easily get slaughtered.
Fans will say game over but this is surely not the case.
It was a brilliant win tonight but we can't dwell on this too much until we are through.
