33 starts, 11 goals, 13 assists. So in over 70% of the games he started this season Fabregas has either scored or assisted a goal. Average overall rating of 7.3 from Whoscored and 7.5 in the Prem, making him the joint-best Premiership performer. All this whilst he's adapting to a new role in a new system. If this is a bad season for him, I'd be trembling at the thought of what he could do in a good season.
!

Sorry, but I don't use WhoScored to base my opinion on a player. From what I've seen this past year, he doesn't look like a player that should be commanding a £60M transfer...especially when he might not be a guranteed starter at Barca.

Manchester United target Ashley Young has made a decision on where his future lies, and has chosen to sign a deal with Liverpool, according to BBC Radio.

Young’s future with Aston Villa has been dicey all season, and after Dalglish took a liking to both Young and teammate Stuart Downing, the Liverpool manager was reportedly hoping he might be able to offer Villa a sum they can’t refuse.

*

Young recently said he was hopeful of signing with a club that would be able to offer Champions League football, putting Manchester United ahead to secure the 25-year-old.

But while Liverpool aren’t playing European football in any capacity next season, Dalglish is still confident he can secure Young’s signature with a long term plan to take the history-rich club back to their glory days.

The January signings of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, along with the permanent signing of Dalglish as Liverpool manager, appear to have shown Young that the Merseryside club is serious in their ambitions to challenge for trophies.

While reports are circulating that Manchester United have a £50 million summer budget to splash on new talent, The Daily Mail is reporting that Sir Alex Ferguson has refused to pay the £16 million asking price for Young, and would rather bring younger, fresher talent to the Manchester United camp.

This leaves Dalglish in the hot seat to cough up the fee for Young, who looks to be all but exiting his current club.

I can't tell you how happy I am about this.

Neither do I, but you've conveniently ignored the rest of my post. I use a whole range of things, but WhoScored actually uses statistics (which are irrefutable) in order to generate ratings. The myth that Fabregas had a bad season is one I'm beginning to get fed up with now...

it not insulting it is clever, They make an offer, they put pressure on arsenal, Fabregas is aware he wants to leave, he pushes through the transfer, barca get him cheaper then then 50 being quoted. So yeah, It is just a tactic by barca.

He could have done that last season. He clearly loves Arsenal and Wenger, and I really doubt he's going to push through a deal that undercuts Arsenal valuation because of Barca's 'tactics'. And even if it is a tactic, it's still an insulting one to Arsenal regardless.

Still don't see why Barcelona want him, to be honest. Great player he is, is he better than Xavi or Iniesta? No. Is he a holding midfielder (Busquets,Masch,Keita) No. Unless he's the long term replacement for Xavi, then what's the point signing him to sit on the bench for three seasons until Xavi retires when you could wait, look at what the academy's bringing through, and bring youth in instead.

I didn't say he had a bad season, but he hasn't blown me away either.

Lille striker Gervinho is planning to announce this week which club he will be joining this summer.

The Ivory Coast international is being tipped to leave France and a number of Premier League clubs are interested.

Newcastle are the latest name in the frame and The Magpies have been linked with a €11million (£9.5m) bid.

However, the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool are also said to be interested, so Newcastle will have a fight on their hands.

Gervinho has confirmed he loves the Premier League, but he is not ruling out possible moves to Spain or Germany.

"During the week I'll announce my decision so that everyone knows," he told skysports.com.

"I love the Premier League, but I have interest from Spain and Germany as well, so let's wait and see.

Where do people stand on the Ivorian international? He's just turned 24, can play as a winger or a striker and has scored 25 goals in 54 appearances for Lille.

Earlier on in the season, when Comolli was spotted watching Lille, the obvious thing to suggest was that he, like every other major club in Europe, was scouting Hazard. However, It wouldn't be too outlandish to suggest that the Frenchman was taking a look at Gervinho.

Iniesta is bit injury prone so that might be a reason.

All the indications are that Gerard Houllier will indeed be leaving #AVFC because of his ongoing health problems.

Hang on. Confirmed. Let me make a celebratory thread!

Was going to post something similar about Cesc, thanks!

:-( I love Gerard Houlier - always liked him when he was at Liverpool, too for some reason. Probably for the best that he concentrates on his health and doesn't continue to manage some **** club like Villa that will only bring more stress when they get relegated ;)

I didn't say he had a bad season, but he hasn't blown me away either.

You implied by saying "especially after the season he's just had", that he's been generally poor. A suggestion which, as was pointed out, isn't really true. It's not about basing your opinion on a player from statistics, but using statistics to show that while he adapts to a new role in the side, with increased importance and hasn't wowed everyone with his performances, he's stayed remarkably consistent. Yes, he's had a few bad games and you can stick whatever clichéd leadership (or lack thereof) tags on him, but he's a ****** good player and is only going to get better.

The ratings created by Who Scored use a very accurate algorithm based on Opta statistics to calculate theoretical influence and performance.

For an example of one of Cesc's "off days" and why he wasn't as bad as everyone made out, read the first part of this (Analysis of Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool)

Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool: Cesc’s performance lost in TV translation? | Arsenal Report

Also - my valuation was based on a) the fact he's our captain, b) our finances - under no pressure whatsoever to sell our big players c) the value of other players, signed by Barcelona in particular - Ibrahimovic: 40M + Eto'o, Chygrynskiy - 25M (and they sold him back a year later), Keirrison was signed for 20M ffs, Rossi - 35M - Cesc is better than all of those players. d) he's still young and is only going to get better.

So really - it's not that unrealistic.

Rumours has it that Juventus offered Marchisio in a part exchange deal for Nani.

According to Jamie Redknapp's official Twitter account;

Spurs are set to put in an improved offer for Giuseppe Rossi and use first team football to get his signature ahead of Barcelona. Spending will not stop there.

Manchester United have shown massive interest in Luka Modric, but dad hasn't confirmed whether or not he'll leave. However he has replacements lined up just in case.

Spurs will play kids in the Europa League and concentrate solely on finishing in the top four.

Are you sure that's his official twitter? 3000 followers?

Who to say they made a concentrate bid last season? This might be there first concentrate bid for Fab, So maybe he hasnt hasnt had the chance to push it through, and after all he is a Barca boy in his heart, That was his first club and the club he loves.

The tactic may be insulting but the offer inst, which was your original point.

Jamie Redknapp has said he doesn't have twitter..
